  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 12:57 AM) When did Contreras become El Duque. He just decided to go from guy who throws 95 and up with a nasty splitter to Mr. Sidearmer with 90mph. What is it too costly to get a medical diagnosis or an MRI. I miss the pitcher who used to throw his forkball on any pitch. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) Just like the ALCS I was a little nervous about Anderson getting to the plate there to shove it in our face.
  2. Big double play!! Not sure how he's doing it with no forkball either, but that's a big momentum play possibly.
  3. These low 87 mph fastballs won't cut it.
  4. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 12:48 AM) clearly you didn't watch him much in the past Career high in steals in one year is 13. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) Is eduardo perez worth a call? Yes Oh super...a walk to #9 hitter and then that. Iguchi needs to take charge on those if he can.
  5. Looks like Contreras has the Garcia disease this year. His average fastball is around 90 mph and he has no command of his forkball.
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 12:45 AM) anderson also had a very good arm and speed in LF. but you're right, he's not what he was a couple of years ago Anderson and speed have never been in same sentence.
  7. The best hitter that could be available is J. Jones on the Cubs. This offense needs some help though.
  8. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) It wasn't as good as his road numbers, during the day, against latino pitchers. Ha, that's not what I was getting at. I meant after the ASB last year, and included that his wrist was bothering him during that time. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 12:37 AM) Anyone else think Garrett Anderson is overrated? He reminds me of an Erstad with a little more power and more durability. Had a few good years, but he got old quickly.
  9. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 12:32 AM) I'm assuming they'll recall Sweeney...or do they bring Eduardo Perez back? Sweeney isn't ready to hit at this level. Perez would help, but we'd still have no one vs RHP.
  10. Missing hangers and leaving men on base....seen this show before. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 12:27 AM) Just a quick note. Thome (2006) In 222 plate appearances vs LHP: .236/.354/.361 In 375 plate appearances vs RHP: .321/.454/.749 Vladimir (2006) In 171 plate appearnaces vs. LHP: .401/.483/.687 In 486 plate appearances vs. RHP: .307/.347/.509 I wonder if there were any Angels fans looking for a platoon partner for Vlad like some Sox fans wanted for Thome. How was Thome after the ASB vs LHP when his wrist was hurting?
  11. Thankfully we have so much offensive depth in the minors.
  12. Have fun on the DL Thome. I'll be thrilled if he's back to 100 pct before the ASB. We're screwed.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) I take it back. Fathom, you lose. That's great. One thing Ozzie needs to do is get Thome some days off against LHP over the course of the season and try to prevent nagging injuries. I like the lineup tonight...Angels are playing well though.
  14. QUOTE(CryptviLL @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) if our pitchign keeps up there ways, we shud be Allright without thome. No
  15. Quoted from chicagosports: "The extra day of rest should help most injured Sox recover from nagging strains, although DH Jim Thome (rib cage) may be held out until next week's series in Seattle."
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 06:16 AM) I think fathom is right. I heard on the Score that Thome's injury could be much worse than they're letting on. Bernstein made a reference to being told by someone within the organization that this could be the type of injury that lingers all season. I don't even want to think about our chances if we're going to have Thome out for stretches this year.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 06:11 AM) I heard the exact opposite. Ozzie said Thome and JD could have played today, and even yesterday, but didn't want to risk it. CSN also reported that Thome felt much much better. He said so himself in an interview. Not what's on chicagosports right now. Dye would have played, not so for Thome.
  18. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 03:32 AM) I do agree with you, and i think the sox know it as well. They made room on the 40 man, because something is up on the trade front. Don't know when but something is coming, With Thome injured and turning into a question mark, we need to upgrade this offense as soon as possible.
  19. Thome's not likely to play this weekend, which really stinks cause we're facing 3 lefties. There's been hints that his injury is more serious than has been reported, and it's probably 50/50 now that he goes on the DL. If this is a muscle issue, he could easily reaggrevate it throughout the year.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 09:22 PM) lol, just having fun with the postponement I hadn't seen the game thread yet. I'm thrilled it's postponed.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) Crede will not make the game tonight also MacDougal and Aardsma are also unavailable out of the pen Wow, what now? Not quite sure why Aardsma won't be available. What a disaster is on our hands right now.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 07:38 PM) The Sox are 3-3 in games started by LHP. Even with the record, our hitting has been abysmal against LHP so far this year. We're averaging a very few amount of hits against the starting lefty. No surprise after last year and Hall's injury.
  23. It would be nice though if our starting pitchers can focus out of the gate though. I did get a kick out of Hawk saying that Cooper isn't arrogant tonight.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 03:25 AM) Sweeney is hitting .246 in AAA right now. I don't think he is ready to step in and be our savior yet. One point higher than Terrero than coming into today. Our offensive players in the minors are brutal so far at the high levels.
