Sox v. Rangers, 3:00 Start, 3/25/07
Anyone else hear Garland laugh off Hawk's question if Buehrle would be back with the Sox next year?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) So according to the hawk, Stewarts swing is different. I actually noticed that he no longer looks like a pitcher swinging the bat. People always say that the Rangers have the best hitting coach in the majors.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) Does losing your hat chasing a flyball add to the grinder index? He got a sensational jump on that play.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) Jake Westbrook probably has a smile on his face when he faces our team. Just tell the 3rd baseman to be ready and let the rest happen. Westbrook had a 1.69 ERA vs the Sox last year, and an ERA over 8 vs the Tigers.

No one gets away with more bs calls than Horford and Hansbrough.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) But we lead the AL in The Grinder Index. Excuse me, are you forgetting The Piranhas?

Sox v. Rangers, 3:00 Start, 3/25/07
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) Well as of late September he was still using that line so I don't see why he would stop now. We're the 3rd most talented team in our division now. Last year, you could realistically argue we were the most talented in the AL. This year, we might be the 6th or 7th most talented.

I wonder if Hawk is going to be saying all year that we're the most talented team in the majors, and it's just a matter of time before we gel?

I actually believe Iguchi will be a lot better not hitting in the 2nd spot. It's too bad we had to replace him with a mediocre caliber hitter though. Iguchi has never been a good hitter when having to protect the runner, as it led to a lot of 2 strike counts or feeble swings.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) There's our top of the order. Two soft outs; Thome up with no one on base. We have the best 3/4/5 in baseball, and the worst 1/2

Buehrle makes the art of not allowing a run every other inning seem difficult.

Danks wins White Sox fifth starter's job

Winona State vs. Barton
The funny thing is that this ending was exactly what I've been begging for throughout the NCAA tournament.

The East Bracket (East Rutherford)
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 05:15 PM) Ill probably be the first person to say it this year that I think Mayo wont mix well with this team. He will be a great player putting up about 30 a game but hes a graceless player, very selfish. From what Ive heard not exactly a team player. Better yet hes playing in hollywood territory, I guess I just dont like the mix there. And that's why I expect both Pruitt/Young to test the waters. I recall an article from a month ago that said Young is almost a lock to go pro.

Baltimore claims Sean Tracey
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) At least Floyd has a somewhat repeatable delivery, Tracey reminds me of a little league kid when he holds the ball. Oh ya, even the first time I saw Tracey pitched, I couldn't believe how hyped up he was by certain people. Floyd's delivery is pretty terrible also, as he shows the ball way too quickly. I really, really think Floyd needs to start off in the minors, as there's no guarantee he can even be successful in AAA. If he does well, great. Then we have the first choice to replace an injured starter ready.

Baltimore claims Sean Tracey
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 07:47 AM) Hes garbage, cant throw strikes or fool anyone at the big league level. His delivery is horrendous. The sad thing is I couldn't tell if you were talking about Tracey or Floyd.

Here's to you, Juan Uribe
Did he die, and no one told me about it?

Baltimore claims Sean Tracey
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 04:20 AM) Not that Sean is good, but a 92 mph fastball will get you on a lot of major league bullpens nowadays. Or perhaps you'd prefer Rocky Cherry? A 92 mph that you have no control over won't do you any good. I haven't seen Cherry lately, but I'm sure he's like all the other Cubs relievers with a strong fastball and slider.

I give credit to Razor Shines for sticking up for Tracey during everything last year.

Baltimore claims Sean Tracey
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 03:12 AM) How is he awful? He's got very good stuff for a reliever, with that fastball of his and he deserves a chance somewhere. If Tracey is awful, does that make Matt Thornton awful before he came to us, because he has great stuff but no control whatsoever either. And Thornton shows you that in the right situation and with the right coaching (who knows what Leo Mazzone will do to Tracey), you can succeed. Tracey has a 91/92 mph fastball with no control. He won't be making any major league team. Tracey's stuff isn't on the same planet as that of Thornton. That would be like comparing Buehrle's stuff to Santana's stuff.

so... it looks like Danks?
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 02:17 AM) Flash, hindsight is 20/20. And Arizona isn't the best place to prove your pitching prowess. At the time, Floyd was a good choice for the 5th starter. Just like Sirotka was for the Blue Jays, Benson was for the Orioles, etc. You can't live in the past andput every trade under the microscope based on a short amount of Spring Training time. You just can't. GM's are like quarterbacks...they get too much credit for a good trade and are ripped too much for a bad one. What in the world has Floyd done to be a good choice for 5th starter coming into this season?
