Uribe has definitely played himself out of Chicago. I can't wait for us to be eliminated so Fields and Sweeney can get some playing time, and we can shut down our starting pitchers. That might be the only time I've used "shut down" and "starting pitchers" in the same sentence all season.
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:44 PM)
Yesterday's outing by our pen was the most gutless display of pitching I've seen in a long time. They were literally afraid to throw strikes.
I'd stick with Contreras for as long as he can handle the heat.
Good thing we had Sandy back there to show his veteran presence...which shockingly equates to never winning a World Series ring even though he's been on teams with amazing talent.
I'd laugh my ass off if Contreras drills Thomas in the back.
All Contreras had to do was throw that forkball, and he would have K'd Thomas last inning.
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:39 PM)
Is that a serious hit? Did he really just do that?
What a f***ing b****.
It's amazing the things you can do when you don't take a called 3rd strike.
Actually, it was 3-1 in the most important game of the year, and we brought in David Riske, one of the most unclutch pitchers in baseball. One pitch later, the Twins had the lead, and we've been down since then.
How about the stat someone showed that in the 2nd half of the year, we're only 1 game up on the Royals?
Dear Ozzie....get Contreras out of the freaking game.
QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:34 PM)
I soo hope if we don't make the playoffs, there will be a retooling of this coaching staff. Lose Ozzie, Cora, Walker, and get some real coaches.
As long as Ozzie's here, they're not going anywhere.
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:33 PM)
I'd like to see Ozzie clear the benches and give some of the young guys a look. His '06 squad is shhit. Might as well get a look at the future.
In about 5 days, we'll see that. How about the fact that Leyland shifted his rotation so Rogers would face the Sox?
QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:33 PM)
We'd still be hitting if we weren't trying to steal with no outs and less than two strikes.
We'd still be hitting if Pods was allowed to be the same player he was in 2004
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:31 PM)
Is it ok to laugh yet?
Oh yeah....and root for Ozzie to quit or call someone a derogatory name. I will root like crazy for Vaz and Garcia to end the season well though, in order to hopefully see their trade value improve.
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:30 PM)
That was a terrible strike call on Crede before the strikeout.
However, that last swing was vintage Choke Crede.
Any surprise that Crede's been absolutely awful as soon as there was discussion about his contract again?
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:27 PM)
It is getting to the point where I would rather see Gload as DH than watch Thome hitting like Frank Thomas during the 2000 playoffs.
Getting to the point? It's blatantly obvious. Thome simply doesn't hit the ball hard. Hell, make Thome the leadoff guy...at least he can draw a walk.
QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:27 PM)
Need horrible baserunning killing a rally? Done.
People forget how he cost us a run in Game 4 of the WS by getting faked out on a flyball with 2 outs in an inning.
QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:27 PM)
I see the Big Hurt hit another one against us. We need to win to avoid falling another game behind as the Twins won.
The Twins are making the playoffs...we need to sweep the Tigers.
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:24 PM)
Despite what Frank says, I really doubt he's much of a fan of Ozzie.
I agree...Ozzie seems to have a lot to say about Frank.
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 09:21 PM)
It's sad when the Yankees will be my #2 team in the American League in the playoffs.
I'm rooting for a Yankees/Mets World Series. Maybe it's me, but rooting for Frank to win the WS is like rooting for your ex girlfriend to start dating a millionaire.
