Root for Boston or Detroit?
QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) I'm surprised. Clearly I'm in the vast minority here but I root for Detroit. I know it's nice to say "division champs" but to me the most important thing is making the playoffs. We have a great shot at Detroit but when it comes to the wildcard we control our destiny. We are ahead of Boston and the more space we put between us, the closer we are to guaranteeing the PLAYOFFS which is the important thing. Now that Liriano is done, Minny doesn't scare me, so Boston is the primary wildcard contender. If we sweep KC (which I expect) and Detroit sweeps Boston, we'll be 5 up in the wildcard. I'm rooting for the Tigers to sweep.

Very nice job by Jenks of making sure he got that offspeed pitch over. Inge has been popping up a ton this series.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Uribe needs to learn to back off of that. Let the OF catch it. Yep, if he can't catch it, then he needs to get out of the way.

Some more bad communication out there. I'd bring in Jenks now.

Maybe it's me, but the Tigers are a better team with Thames in the lineup than they are Young.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) YES!!! Big Run BA!!!!!! I know you and I have been very critical of him this season, but it's nice to see him actually doing things that help our offense win.

I'd let Thornton start the inning, and bring in Jenks if two guys reach base.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) I am a little surpised the Tigers have not been bitten by their lack of a dominant closer more often. Jones gives up more deep fly balls that are caught on the warning track than any pitcher I've seen in a long time.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) JD has been on fire the second half. Unreal. More like the whole season....as long as Vincente Padilla isn't pitching.

QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) do you keep thornton in for the 9th? i only suggest it because bobby pitched yesterday and pitched 2/2/3 innings 3 days ago. If Jenks is feeling good enough to pitch, you bring him in.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) Im going to throw out some MacDougal LOVE here...Hes been awesome since being acquired...KW may not have made the biggest deadline trade, but its turning out to be the best Does anyone know what MacDougal's career groundball/flyball ratio is? He seems to have a ton of movement on his sinker.
