  1. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Gerald Laird would be a fabulous back up, he is a damn good hitter. Why would Texas get rid of him. With everything going on between the teams, I can't imagine us trading with them. Also, from what I've heard in the past, the Rangers have asked for a lot in return for Laird.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Sal Fasano was on the DL for Philly and was DFA'd yesterday. He can hit an occassional bomb. Maybe KW is working on a bigger deal with big fat Sal thrown in. He looks like the guy that Wild Thing K'd at the end of the game in "Major League". The Chicago native has bad knees, FWIW. And I'm with you...please no Sandy Alomar. He needs a cut-off man when someone tries to steal against him.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) I am not sure, but I was thinking Roberto. Ah yes, that would make a lot more sense. For some reason, I've felt all year that we'd end up with either Roberto or Torres in our bullpen. I also think that the only way KW will trade McCarthy is if it's for a player with years remaining on their contract (Tejada, Crawford, Willis, M. Cabrera).
  4. BTW, isn't it fun to discuss trade possibilities coming off of a win?
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) Also, might as well throw this in here, but apparently Levine interviewed Kenny today and Levine asked him if there is a chance that on August 1st we'd be talking about Linebrink, Soriano, or Hernandez. Kenny responded to that by saying "I'm looking for something bigger than that". Hernandez, as in Livan? I think the two possible bigger acquisitions would be Tejada or Crawford.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) Like has been said here before, I don't think any of us will forget the feel good story that he was last year. Thanks, Chris. His bases loaded walk in Game 3 of the WS was breath-taking.
  7. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) Widger's a great story, but like Politte, he hasn't carried his weight on the squad. I hate to see the guy go, but we really need some help. Absolutely. Thanks for your contributions last year....but last year is over. I think AJP's recent struggles make the need for another catcher even more obvious.
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 08:29 PM) Other than two bad innings (Yes, I know they still count), the starting pitching has been very good the last 6 games. We just need to avoid (Javier especially) those 4 or 5 run innings that have been killing us. I completely agree. Our offense has been the downfall in the last week. Even with the big innings, they still kept us in the game against very good hitting teams.
  9. Ozzie just said that KW is looking at getting someone to help our offense, as well as a back-up catcher. From what he said, it sounds like we're close to making some trades.
  10. The "Sunday" lineup really sparked us today. We didn't hit the ball very well, but we capitalized on our opportunities. Excellent job on the field by Ozzie today.
  11. NASTY STUFF! On the field, this might have been Ozzie's best managing of the season.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) I'm a huge mark for Thornton, but there's no reason not to let Garland finish it off. Sure there is. Blalock hits .100 pts less against lefties. Thornton dominated him last night. A shutout would have been great, but a win is more important right now. Also, I believe Blalock has done a lot of damage vs Garland in his career.
  13. Great start by Garland today!!! Hopefully Thornton will come in and throw strikes.
  14. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) honestly gload should get the start tomorrow night, jermaine needs a night. I think he's fine...he's just facing a pitcher that he's struggled against this year. He's hit a few homers off of Radke lately, keep him in for tomorrow.
  15. Wow DJ...wow!
  16. Dye is 0-5 with 5 Ks vs Padilla this year.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) Don't respond to this post either Jphat. Sorry, I hadn't seen your previous post. You can delete that if you want.
  18. Very impressive game by Pods today.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Even if said knowledge is incorrect? It doesnt matter. I was just teasin the fact that he thinks he has sources. It doens't even matter that much. Again, who said it was incorrect? I have absolutely no reason to believe it was wrong. Rather, I think KW and the organization got their way over Ozzie. It would have been very interesting to see if Tracey got the call up if Hermanson was doing better, and Montero wasn't slumping.
  20. A little off topic here, but on the radio the other day, McCarthy said it would take 15-20 days for him to get his arm strength up to 100 pitches if needed.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) He called him that before the game, we heard about it in the post game stories after the game. DId we play a 12-hour game I didn't know about? The stuff didn't break until the next morning, when there were columns about it in the paper that weren't included in the post game stories. The story was relayed to me by a baseball executive who was sitting next to a Tribune reporter who was covering Tracey's appearance in the minors.
  22. Great job by Garland so far. He's really using all four corners of the plate.
  23. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Dye with the hat trick, If i were Oz i might give him the rest of the day off, and move Mack to Rf and Put Anderson in CF I might be wrong, but I think Padilla owned him last time at the Cell. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) I can say when I talked to Fathom it kind of verified what I had heard but not quite as detailed. Yeah, I've been very open with you regarding who and where I get my information from. I think we can both say we hear a lot of "information", but you have to choose wisely about who and what to tell.
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) LOL. Don't pretend you have sources. It's not becoming. HA! I think Flash, more than anyone else, can confirm my sources. I was also the person that knew about the Sox top 10 prospect list a week before anyone else. Are your sources still saying that Pods is a better leadoff hitter than Sizemore?
  25. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) Is this another one of your sources? Ha....there's been plenty of information I've heard that I've told people, but I don't share with the masses on here. And get this....the Tracey information I was told was confirmed again. Either there's a massive liar within the Sox organization, or Ozzie changed his mind.
