  1. QUOTE(JimH @ May 31, 2006 -> 02:01 AM) It wasn't managing, as much as you like to blame it on that. It was poor execution by a number of players. All I know is that I've been less than impressed with Cintron's approach at the plate. AJP is one of our toughest outs...and he was on the bench to end the game. Of course, in the end, it's the execution which wins or loses the game. If we had Pods, Mackowiak, and AJP go 1-2-3 to end the game, you wouldn't have heard a word from me about the managing that inning.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) Mack is our pinch hitter. Plus, Mack is .296 with RISP, AJ is .195. I have no problem with Mackowiak batting, but Cintron's the one who should have never been hitting in that situation.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:55 AM) What? How do you not have AJP bat for either Anderson or Ozuna?
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:54 AM) Who would you pinch hit him for? I don't think the fielding would woufk. You have him bat for Ozuna. Mackowiak would have still been on the bench, so you don't have to worry about that. Of course....this was another example of why Gload is absolutely worthless on this team.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) Terrible execution game. Paul, Cintron, etc. Terrible managing in the 9th keeping our best lefty on the bench.
  6. I'm sure glad we kept AJP on the bench in the 9th.
  7. SWING THE f***ING BAT! You can't take that there.
  8. Why Cintron over AJP, Mackowiak, and Gload? Gload is twice the hitter that Cintron is.
  9. Wow...some huge stones by Pods there. Great AB.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:43 AM) If Freddy pitches like he did last outing, Ozzie should get his best defenders bleacher seats. Probably no shock to people on here, but I hate our chances tomorrow.
  11. Some great relief by Thornton.
  12. QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) That's quite a scary middle infield defense, and not in a good way. Agreed....and Ozzie usually likes to have his best defense in the field for when Garcia pitches.
  13. One of the worst innings of our season. We better be seeing Pods lead off the inning, and AJP batting in the 9th off of Wickman.
  14. Sure seems like we've had a ton of hittable pitches tonight.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:31 AM) I think if Lidge got out of Houston, and into the AL, he would be awesome. ^^^^^
  16. Needless to say, there's going to be some ph in the next few innings for the Sox.
  17. Very, very impressive inning for Thornton. He faced 3 very tough hitters, and he controlled each AB.
  18. Another defensive mishap by Uribe that he won't get credit for an error on, but it really hurts the team.
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) There has to be a change soon. One of Uribe, BA, and Politte has to go or lose their starting role very soon. These three guys haven't even shown signs of improvement. They have been the definition of garbage. Don't forget the amazing contributions we're getting from Gload.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) Tigers only down 1 Why can't we have Granderson, and the Tigers have Anderson?
  21. QUOTE(daa84 @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) actually was a decent slider....jhonny just poked it through right side The book is out on Cliff....he's going to keep throwing you outside slider after outside slider. This team has two players that shouldn't be performing in the majors right now, and it's Anderson and Politte.
  22. Politte = done with.
  23. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) this cant continue, 8,9 auto. outs. because when we have games like yesterday, sure it dont matter, but when u have games like this where u need a damn run, well, were screwed. Everyone knew our 1-7 wasn't going to stay hot all season. It was just a matter of time before the 8-9 struggles were magnified. The Indians bullpen might not matter though.... Politte shouldn't be pitching in a close game.
  24. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:17 AM) It does. I would be severely disappointed if we didn't pull this off. Cabrera's been pretty damn good in his last 10 appearances. Wickman always makes it interesting though.
  25. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) The vulchers are really circling the non-hitting carcass of Brian Anderson tonight. About dam time! It's just amazing how consistently bad he's been this year. He had a stretch on the west coast where he was getting a favorable count in a lot of ABs. Besides that, he's been awful at the plate. And lets be honest...he's not hitting into bad luck either.
