Good grief....I still can't imagine how a World Series contending team has to play an infielder in the outfield once a week?
-
I'd never thought I'd say this, but I miss Crede in this lineup. Cintron's swing is way too long against a guy like Moyer.
-
Moyer has Cintron set up for the low change away.
-
Big hit here, as you'd hate to see 5 guys left in scoring position in first 3 innings.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 02:51 AM) He apparently also has issues with his balls. Shoulder problems = scared of bats = afraid to throw strikes
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 02:51 AM) Widger mentioned last week that Garland was having shoulder issues, but seemed to be feeling better before his last start. I saw that quote, and was surprised that not more was made about it.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 02:50 AM) Thome has been getting plunked ALOT this year. You could see that coming. He's standing right on top of the plate. It's a great strategy against Moyer.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 02:45 AM) I'm gonna cheer everytime Pablo makes a catch, even if it's routine. He may not be great, but you can't fault the guy for trying. So easy to root for. He'd be just the perfect utility player if his defense was a little bit better. I have just as much confidence with him at the plate to have a good AB as I am anyone else on the team.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 02:41 AM) God damn it, Garland is looking terrible again. Come on, pitch inside! I had the pleasure of listening on the radio for the first 1 1/2 innings, but it seems like Garland is having all sorts of issues with his control. His stuff isn't good enough to be scared of the bats.

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) Cubs are making a comeback in the 8th. Bases juiced, no outs. 3-1 Marlins. And its a tie game on a 2 RBI single for Matt Murton, 3-3 game with runners on first and second, one out. Don't forget that the Marlins would be in great shape if dumbass Cabrera would have just stepped on 3rd base to get the first out.

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) Cubs are making a comeback in the 8th. Bases juiced, no outs. 3-1 Marlins. The Marlins are an absolute f***ing disgrace. Their lineup tonight might be the worst I've ever seen. They have one legit MLB hitter in their lineup in Cabrera, and the rest are guys who could easily be in AAA.

Dye was 8-41 with one homer in his career vs Moyer, and Crede was 1-14. I do remember that Frank used to just destroy Moyer.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) my apologies then, the bulls game commercials didn't say that :banghead anyways I don't mind our lineup tonight, I think pablo is vastly underrated He's fine at the plate...but he's already lost us one game with his defense in LF. Considering we have a pitcher who thrives on getting the other team to hit the ball to his defenders, I think we all would have liked to seen Crede at 3b, and Pods in LF.
-
This is another one of those games where you realize how useless Gload is on our roster.
-
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) if any one is watching the bulls game besides me it seems to be that comcast won't start showing the game until the bulls POST GAME is over c'mon, move the postgame elsewhere either way go bulls and sox The game's on CLTV tonight.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) Lots of guys getting days off. I was wondering when Crede would be getting a day off; he deserves one. I would have preferred the "A" lineup tonight, and then give some of the righties the day off against the tough righty tomorrow night. I'm not a fan of having two poor defenders on the left side of the field with Garland on the mound.

QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) does anyone know exactly whats wrong with his back? Is this something that could lead to further damage if he played or is it just regular day in day out back pain? I'm gonna say it might be his delivery of his pitches that could have caused this injury to develop maybe he needs a new approach. Whatever the injury is, it's preventing him from being able to reach a solid velocity and be able to throw his offspeed stuff. If you saw him in ST, his stuff was awful.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) They said on Tribune Live that Dye took himself out of the lineup tonight because he can't hit Moyer. I wonder if Ozzie will give Gload a start in RF. I think Dye's been wanting a day off for a few days. On Saturday, he was surprised he was in the lineup against Radke, who he's struggled against.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) This Zambrano is a f***ing joke. This clown just broke his bat over his knee after striking out. Hey, s***head, you're down 3-0 and you gave up bomb. Work on throwing some strikes. I don't care how what "stuff" this douche has, if he continues to wear his heart on his sleeve, he won't amount to anything. If I had a nickel for everytime this guy stomped around the mound, or got flustered, or yelled on the mound or in the clubhouse I'd buy some scout seats. Do you ever see Buehrle pull that s***? No sir. He's an absolute piece of s*** on the field. Intensity is fine....being a whiny little b**** is just pathetic at this level.
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) PLZ he knew all along he was not going to make it, He told OG and KW he would be fine and too late to another guy for pen in ST and his surgery if done last year he would of been in good shape early part of season not drawing just checks for most all of 2006. Do you know how difficult it is for a guy to admit that he's probably going to have to get career-ending surgery? Hermanson is a tough SOB, and I honestly think that he believed he could compete at the MLB level this year with his injury. After what he did last year....he has quite the leniency with me.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) Green? I hope you are being serious Really - he's 41 years old, there is nothing wrong with playing out your final season at the age of 41. What is he supposed to do play 5 more years to pass Aaron? Would that make everyone happy? If he hits 5 homers this year and is very injury-plagued I would doubt he would come back next year just to "pass whitey". No, I'm being very serious. Bonds has been amazing to watch over the last 6-7 years. I've never seen someone just dominate the sport the way he has. Basically, the way Thome has hit the first 3 weeks was the way that Bonds was for the entire season. It's just too bad that everything has happened the way it has.
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) He will be lucky tp pitch at all this year and his option is not picked up DH is staying for checks at this point! If Hermanson wanted to stay for the money this year, he would have gotten the surgery, and no one would have expected him to play this year. Instead, he tried to grind it out, and his back just didn't cooperate.
-
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) they've barely pitched. Why all the sudden this year is everything a "concern". I get concerned when Cotts has allowed more homers in about 5 innings than he did last season in about 70 total innings.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) Say Bonds hits 20 jacks this year and retires. People will never ever ever ever stop b****ing about how he just wanted to pass Ruth. WTF is he supposed to do? He obviously has very little left in the tank and he's just trying to hang on 1 more year. Bonds has put himself into a position where no matter what he does or doesn't do, he's going to be criticized. He can stop world hunger....and people would still find a reason to not like him. And trust me.....there's no one in sports over the last decade who was more entertaining to watch than Bonds....and Timo. I've always been a big fan of Bonds, and would love to see him go for the record.
-
QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) All he wants to do is pass whitey ... ^^^^^^^^^ I think people would be amazed to find out how racist Bonds is. Some of the stuff I've heard from ex-teammates is pathetic, in regards to how he acts.
