QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) When has he been out of control tonight? He has played good D outside of the really dumb foul on Smith and he has been fine on offense tonight. All I know is if you read what they're saying during the game, you'd think he's a Hall of Famer in the making. Going up against the other teams big man and getting the ball spiked in your face, as well as fouling a poor 3 pt shooter, isn't exactly playing smart basketball. BTW, Marcus Williams has 15 pts, 9 assists, and 6 rebs.....AT THE HALF! -

Ok, Illinois fans, please explain something to me. I look at the illiniboard, and they're praising Chester Frazier for his game so far tonight. Am I watching a different game? He's out of control, and I think people are confusing hustle for overagressiveness. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 04:11 AM) Good stuff, big Vag aka Daryl Dora is a complete waste of a 6'9 240 pound body. The guy plays like he's 6' 160 pounds, yet he won't shoot 3's either. Doesn't bang inside, and won't shoot an open shot, I don't understand what the point of him being on the floor is. Congrats to Kelvin Sampson as well, guy can get anybody into OU on a basketball scholarship, no matter the grades, and can barely beat TTU without a real big man. Dora is the best passer on TTech. The problem with that team is that it's basically J. Jackson and Zeno, and no one else. Zeno hasn't improved at all from last year. Ronald Ross was the most underrated player in the country last year, and no one besides J. Jackson has improved. -

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 07:37 AM) Hey I am not going as far as most KU fans who are calling JUJU the next Magic Johnson haha. It's ok, after reading an illiniboard post today that said Eric Gordon and Derrick Rose would be the greatest college backcourt ever, I don't think any hyperbole would shock me . -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 06:56 AM) You haven't watched much college basketball, have you? Or should I say much college basketball outside of Kansas? As someone that's not an Illini or Kansas fan, I'll say that while there have been plenty of other better passing big men to play basketball (A. Sabonis is a prime example), Julian Wright is one of the most dynamic post passers in the past decade in college basketball. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) I've never said he sucks. He's good, obviously. I just loathe Duke and i hate Redick because he is Duke right now. I also hate how he b****es a lot (when duke gets all the calls) and i hate some of his antics after making threes, etc. I was in Atlanta when they beat us 2 years ago, and he did his headbob all the way down the court after making a back-breaking three. So when he goes 2-90 from three and they lose to MSU, i enjoy it. The funny thing is that even though everyone hates the way Redick is on the court, Morrison is 10 times the punk that Redick is on the court. Nearly every game, Morrison gets into an altercation on the court. One of the reasons that Redick is so damn good is that he rarely loses his composure. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 03:34 AM) That happens against a zone though. It also happens because they're a below average passing team. Dee has an awfully hard time getting into the lane and dishing to a big. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) I think Heads would be the first to tell you that it's more healthy to be addicted to crack than to be addicted to Iowa State athletics. I think Jackson Vroman might tell you that there's a connection between the two of them. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 12:48 AM) I really have to disagree. That UNC team had 4 NBA lottery picks. This UNC team will have Hansbrough, Lawson, Ellington, and Wright at the very least as 1st rounders, not even including guys like Danny Green, Marcus Ginyard, Deon Thompson, Bobby Frasor, and Alex Stepheson who have the potential for the NBA and will give great depth, along with seniors Wes Miller and Reyshawn Terry who are providing 21 ppg for this years squad. Those were 4 first round picks playing at an extremely high level. I'm not saying down the road, the 2007 UNC roster won't have more pros. Either way, it's a great collection of talent that Roy has. -

Last year's UNC team had more talent on it than next year's UNC team. -

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) KU is up there with Rush, Chalmers, Robinson, Kaun, Giles, Case, Wright, Collins, Jackson and probably Darrel Arthur. Absolutely Kansas will be loaded. I think Rush will go pro though, no matter what he says in the press. Kansas is an absolute joy to watch on TV, as their freshman are improving every game. I still laugh at the person who said Julian was having a s***ty season. My prediction is that Chalmers will be the best point guard in cbball next year. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) They have the Fab 5 coming in next year anyway. They will have the most talented starting lineup and their bench won't be a joke. I see them as being the most talented team, hands down in the nation. As far as that translating into the most wins, we'll see. I'll take UNC as the most talented start team next year, with Lawson, Hansbrough, Wright, Terry, and Danny Green or Wayne Ellington. Also, Ga Tech will have superb talent with Crittenton, Clinch, Thad Young, Morrow, and Dickey/Smith. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Butler isnt a whole lot? He played some damn good defense against the "1 man fast break" today. It's easy to guard the 1 man fast break in the halfcourt. He has absolutely no 1-on-1 skills on offense. It's fine, they like little guards like him in the NBDL. -

The Big 10 is going to lose a ton of talent after this season. The conference will likely be down next season. The ACC is going to be absolutely loaded next season, with Duke, UNC, GT, and others having some ridiculously talented teams. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) Just think, next year Ohio State is going to be even better. Not going to be easy to defeat a club with perhaps two of the nations best players in Oden/Conley complimenting a squad where majority are returning next year. Don't they lose Dials, Sullinger, Foster, and Sylvester? Ohio St. will be good next year, but there's other teams out there that potentially will have better talent. -
BTW, I know this is old news, but Kerr saying "that's in" basically before Okur shot that 3 last game to win it was one of the funniest things I've ever heard during a sports game.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 05:22 AM) He is. He falls apart in the 4th in close games. At least Skiles is smart enough to keep the ball in the hands of Ben Gordon, who is clutch. (I don't believe in using green for sarcasm, but this wasn't almost my first time).
-
I'm convinced Hinrich's the least clutch player in the history of basketball.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) In hindsight, that was probably one of the best things to happen because Hermanson took over the closing duties soon after and went on a tear. Very true, as well as how it was a blessing that PK totally choked on that liner down the line in the Twins game, which caused the game to go into extra innings. Jenks eventually got the save in the 10th inning, and it paved the way for him to make such a huge impact.

Shingo vs the Indians in Game 3 of the season. Oh sorry, wrong thread.
-
Everyone knows I'm not the biggest Ozzie fan, but I was very impressed with him during the interview last night. Nothing he said was really "stupid", and you can tell he has a passion for managing. Also dropping the F bomb regarding the talent that Phil had with the Bulls was high comedy.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) I hope he signs with Boston, would just prove what we knew all along, his "I want to go back to Texas to play and be with my kids" s*** was just that, a bunch of s***. What a loser, I can't wait to b**** slap him when we see him pitching for whatever team he ends up with. Don't forget the Astros also wasted a draft pick on his son in an effort to please him. -
I still that the Jenks in the entire postseason was PHENOMENAL. He was a good throw by Pods away from being the WS MVP. Think about the tough saves he had to get in the postseason.....the two inning save in Game 2 vs Boston, Game 3 vs Boston where he couldn't allow a runner on base with Ortiz coming up, the Game 1 of the WS masterpiece, pitching in the extras in Game 3 of the WS, and then the clutch Game 4 of the WS save. Not bad for our top prospect, huh?

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) Illiniboard is full of pricks and cubbie like crazy optimistics. I stopped reading it when one day they complained about assembly hall being too quiet, then the next week they complained about krush jumping up and down and screaming. The thing I can't stand is that they think refs are totally out to get them. Every game, win or lose, there's 20 threads b****ing about the refs. And then, if another team's site complains about the refs in the game, they'll state how much those teams are whining. There are always ticky-tack fouls and questionable calls during a game. Sometimes, you just need to make sure you outscore the opposition. -

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) he's very good at everything but shooting? ...ok He's a pretty good defender, that's about it. See, that was what I was talking about. Someone who is very good at everything but shooting would be Julian Wright. To say Frazier is "VERY" good is a gross exaggeration in my eyes. However, I do appreciate the talk about things like this, as you can never get a legit conversation on the illiniboard.
