  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:34 AM) It doesn't matter. We weren't getting a hit off Qualls anyway. Gotta try to get through this inning and get to Wandy. That's a poor approach to have. We should have had a runner on 2nd for our 2/3 hitters. Pods seems to have forgotten how to bunt, but at least he can always rely on his great baseball instincts.
  2. Can we just STOP BUNTING! Seriously, the amount of outs we give up is ridiculous.
  3. Was he not paying attention the play before when Ausmus almost did the same thing? Pods is a terrible fundamental ball player.
  4. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:25 AM) Remember this peeps, Jenks is out for tomorrow. Dustin Hermanson is your closer. That is what these games do when there is no off day the next day I must be in the minority, but in the World Series, you play to win the game that day, and worry about the next game tomorrow. We'll be ok with closer if needed.
  5. QUOTE(sin city sox fan @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:23 AM) I can't see Jenks going 4.....perhaps 3 but 4 is out of the question If Jenks was able to go 2 innings tonight, then against I ask the question: why Hermanson over Jenks? If Ozzie thought Hermanson had a better chance to get Lane out, then I guess I can't argue with just stupidity.
  6. Well, we sure could have used that in the 8th inning.
  7. Wow, we're not even coming close to hitting the ball hard.
  8. He has just terrible mechanics at the plate.
  9. BTW, Palmeiro is one of the 5 best in baseball at making contact when he swings.
  10. Widger doesn't know how to catch for Jenks, in terms of pitch selection.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:03 AM) Get this. The Stros have exactly ONE hit in the last 7 innings. Just that double to Lane. DAMN YOU CLIFF AND NEAL. If that's the case, then blame the guy who allowed the hit!
  12. I don't like Widger catching for Jenks. AJP has always seemed to have a good idea what he's doing with Jenks on the mound. I can't believe they didn't just try and blow it by Taveras.
  13. Here's why I hated the idea of having Iguchi bunt. You're basically making it a situation where either Dye knocks the runner in, or PK isn't going to get a chance to hit. Especially with the short porch in LF, it's often hard to score on a single at the field. Like someone mentioned earlier, if you're going to do something, try a hit-and-run.
  14. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 04:54 AM) Seriously. You know you are going to get a first pitch strike. If he gets down 0-1 or 0-2 with all that time off he has no chance. Just take a swing and hope. If you're swinging at the first pitch you see, it better be a good swing. Instead, he was basically going up there trying to pull whatever he saw. We took the bat out of PK's hands that inning, even though that's more the fault of Iguchi for forgetting how to execute the last month than it is Ozzie.
  15. Some real s***ty ABs since the big inning we had. I don't think some people realize how close that ball was to going into the stands.
  16. f***, Iguchi can't get the job done. That ball was awfully close to scoring a run.
  17. Wow, we got a pretty big call there, and Pods gets on. I'd rather see him try to steal 2nd, and then bunt him over.
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 04:25 AM) LOL. I wonder what would have happened if we went to the bullpen in the 6th. THIS is why you don't do that. Or maybe you don't just have your best reliever pitch to one batter, etc?
  19. I'm sure happy Duque tried to start this inning if he's hurting. This is where leaving McCarthy off the roster might come back to haunt us. Vizcaino and Marte....yuck!
