Last guys on the roster
I really, really hope Redding doesn't make this team. I've seen him pitch a lot with the Astros, and he is bad. His stuff is below average, and I don't see much upside for him in the bullpen.

Good news for Gload fans
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 05:25 AM) Grieve can hit a little bit... And, quick, Grieve's a lefty, I believe. Throws righty, hits left. Grieve's bat speed is very slow now, and the only positive he brings is that he can draw a lot of walks (cause he never swings).

Good news for Gload fans
QUOTE(quickman @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 04:35 AM) Which part Rock? Gload is horrible in the outfield and the sox really don't need to carry 3 first baseman. Quite frankly I do not understand why people are enamored with this guy. He is not needed on this team. I really don't understand Ozzie saying that he is on the team right now. Completely senseless. What message is that sending to the others? I personally think with a good spring Ben grieve makes this team. I am not a fan of Grieve but in my opinion he is the same guy as gload but better in the outfield. ( I know he bats right handed) He was brought in for a reason, and it was not to push Borchard, who will be gone by the end of spring training. If Grieve has a lousy spring than maybe Gload stays but its just not a match. Grieve is better in the outfield? HE'S SLOWER THAN PAUL KONERKO! Ben Grieve is not a good player, and Borchard would fit this team's needs much better.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 05:53 AM) He won't end up at Illinois as long as his brother is running the show, no chance in hell. I had bad feelings about that since I read it 6 weeks ago, seeing as his brother is a failed athlete trying to live through his brother. This isn't going in a good direction at all. I just read the whole Rose thread on the illiniboard, and here's the problem I have with these accusations.....say Rose does end up going to Illinois. Does this mean that Weber paid him to go there? From my experience working around collegiate athletic departments, all major programs are dirty.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 07:05 AM) I would not count on that...i know his family well, his mom said her boy is getting a degree. Ah, not to turn this into a pissing contest, but I have close friends who've known Julian since he was a freshman in high school. Julian will go to the NBA as soon as he's a guaranteed lottery pick. He considered jumping straight to the pros out of high school, but the consensus was he wouldn't be a first round pick. I'll be happy to share who I know in a PM if you'd like. BTW, I'd love to see Julian, Rush, and Chalmers stay around next year. They're a terrific trio.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 06:26 AM) My Webpage Julian Wright is so damn good. I could never imagine the Jayhawks could be ranked higher than Illini going into the tourney, barring an impossible victory in Austin. Julian could very well be a missing link for the Illini this year. They could really use a high energy creator. Rather, they just have Dee floating on the outside with his poor point guard skills. As a matter of fact, Kansas fans better hope Julian cools down a little. If he keeps up this level of play, some team might promise him a lottery selection this year.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 04:26 AM) We can have a nice NIT battle going here with IU fans, myself a TTU fan, SIU fans etc. Yipee. My Yellow Jackets aren't even going to make the tournament. We'll be a force next year though.

My worries with Jenks
The one worry I have with Jenks is his elbow. Every once in a while, someone will run into a heater of his, and hit a long, long homer. At least he'll have a competent centerfielder when he's pitching this season. Rowand was solid on defense last year, but he absolutely sucked when Jenks was on the mound.

Where's the Red Sox public relations specialist to spin this?

Chris Quinn is the NBA equivalent of Kirk Hinrich. By that, I mean they couldn't hit a clutch shot to save their life.

The announcer in the ND/UCONN game just goes "I like the gay penetration". That's much worse than when DJ said that Pods wears rubbers (spikes) so he can dig deeper in the dirt.

Horton was the man tonight, and proved to me he's the top point guard in the Big 10. I don't understand why Illinois stopped going to Augie down low.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) Just hope Harris doesnt get hot. Thats what killed Wisconsin, he scored 20 points. He's looked terrible for the most part tonight. He's had some awful turnovers in the last couple of minutes that has prevented Michigan from building a little lead.

ND on a 15-0 run at UCONN to take a 3 pt lead.

Some of Randle El's old friends from Thornton (who have talked with him recently) fully expect him to sign with the Bears.

No excuse for Illinois to not win this game. Michigan just isn't the same team they were a few months ago. Their defense is awful.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) When has he been out of control tonight? He has played good D outside of the really dumb foul on Smith and he has been fine on offense tonight. All I know is if you read what they're saying during the game, you'd think he's a Hall of Famer in the making. Going up against the other teams big man and getting the ball spiked in your face, as well as fouling a poor 3 pt shooter, isn't exactly playing smart basketball. BTW, Marcus Williams has 15 pts, 9 assists, and 6 rebs.....AT THE HALF!

Ok, Illinois fans, please explain something to me. I look at the illiniboard, and they're praising Chester Frazier for his game so far tonight. Am I watching a different game? He's out of control, and I think people are confusing hustle for overagressiveness.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 04:11 AM) Good stuff, big Vag aka Daryl Dora is a complete waste of a 6'9 240 pound body. The guy plays like he's 6' 160 pounds, yet he won't shoot 3's either. Doesn't bang inside, and won't shoot an open shot, I don't understand what the point of him being on the floor is. Congrats to Kelvin Sampson as well, guy can get anybody into OU on a basketball scholarship, no matter the grades, and can barely beat TTU without a real big man. Dora is the best passer on TTech. The problem with that team is that it's basically J. Jackson and Zeno, and no one else. Zeno hasn't improved at all from last year. Ronald Ross was the most underrated player in the country last year, and no one besides J. Jackson has improved.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 07:37 AM) Hey I am not going as far as most KU fans who are calling JUJU the next Magic Johnson haha. It's ok, after reading an illiniboard post today that said Eric Gordon and Derrick Rose would be the greatest college backcourt ever, I don't think any hyperbole would shock me .

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 06:56 AM) You haven't watched much college basketball, have you? Or should I say much college basketball outside of Kansas? As someone that's not an Illini or Kansas fan, I'll say that while there have been plenty of other better passing big men to play basketball (A. Sabonis is a prime example), Julian Wright is one of the most dynamic post passers in the past decade in college basketball.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) I've never said he sucks. He's good, obviously. I just loathe Duke and i hate Redick because he is Duke right now. I also hate how he b****es a lot (when duke gets all the calls) and i hate some of his antics after making threes, etc. I was in Atlanta when they beat us 2 years ago, and he did his headbob all the way down the court after making a back-breaking three. So when he goes 2-90 from three and they lose to MSU, i enjoy it. The funny thing is that even though everyone hates the way Redick is on the court, Morrison is 10 times the punk that Redick is on the court. Nearly every game, Morrison gets into an altercation on the court. One of the reasons that Redick is so damn good is that he rarely loses his composure.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 03:34 AM) That happens against a zone though. It also happens because they're a below average passing team. Dee has an awfully hard time getting into the lane and dishing to a big.
