White Sox @ Colorado - 2PM CT - 3/6
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Jerry Owens pops out. Dony Lucy gets robbed by Sox killer Choo Freeman. We've gotten robbed a lot the first week. A shocking comment by my best friend on this board.

Lefties Boone Logan & Heath Phillips to get a shot
Heath Phillips gave up 10 homers in 22 innings in AAA last year.

Ozzie calls out Jenks on his weight
QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) Jenks needs better command of his breaking ball (or a changeup that he can locate). One hundred mph fastballs at the letters aren't going to work for an entire season. Personally, I think Jenks needs better command on his fastball. When he keeps it low in the zone, it's very hittable. He has no movement at all on his fastball. His curve doesn't always have to be over the plate. Rather, he got hit harder when it was over the plate than when it dove out of the zone. The ironic thing is that I have no concerns about Jenks this year. He might struggle some, but his stuff is still good enough where he'll be a strong bullpen pitcher. I wish I could say I was as confident in another Sox reliever.

Sox @ Diamondbacks 2:05pm
QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) I'll tell you guys this much, the bullpen has me a little worried this season. It's definitely in prime position to be our major weakness. Oh well, at least we have McCarthy in the bullpen.

Sox @ Diamondbacks 2:05pm
I know this might sound bad, but I'm actually happy some of these crappy pitchers we brought in are doing bad. I don't think any of them should be on the roster of a World Series contender. Thus, maybe their poor performances will help persuade KW to make a move for a reliever.

Sox @ Diamondbacks 2:05pm
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) 4-1 Diamondbacks. Randolph sucks. He's one of the most painful pitchers to watch in baseball. He has absolutely no control.

Sox @ Diamondbacks 2:05pm
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) At least most of these pitchers aren't going to make the roster. I'm more frustrated with how bad our hitters look. As I type this... 3 pitches, 2 outs. Again, we all know that the results don't matter right now. However, there's a lot to say for the confidence of the hitters. I don't care if you're 5 yrs old, 20, or Julio Franco.....if you struggle at the plate, your confidence gets down, and you start to press.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) Anderson is better than Rowand, defensively, at the same stage of development. Whether he continues to grow like Rowand did remains to be seen, but he has the tools to be a better defeder. I still want to know what happened to Rowand's arm last season. That was the main reason why I didn't feel he should have won a Gold Glove.

*Official* MVC Tournament Thread
QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) Cheerleader fell off the pyramid during commercial. Stretcher at mid court. I saw this happen at a high school football game this past fall. They had to get a chopper to take her away. Scary stuff. Am I a bad person for laughing my ass off when she was doing the cheers? It seemed she was ok, so the fear factor was gone. It seemed like a scene out of a movie. It was almost Rod Tidwell reincarnated.

Ozzie calls out Jenks on his weight
I'm not counting on Hermanson being anywhere close to 100 pct this season. I'll be stunned if he doesn't spend a good amount of time on the DL.

Sox vs. Diamondbacks (3/4, 1:05 P.M. CT)
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) Quite the opposite. The Knights play in "Pitcher's Hell" as it is affectionately known. Oh, I've been to quite a few Knights games. It just baffles me how he can totally shut down AAA players, but looks clueless against MLB players.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) There's the Baj we all know. Giving up LONG homeruns. The fences in AAA much be really deep or something for him to have the ERA he does.

Sox vs. Diamondbacks (3/4, 1:05 P.M. CT)
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Borchie wants that last outfielder spot. Man, Grieve is a freaking butcher in the outfield. A few weeks ago, people on here were saying they wanted Grive to make the team. In my reponse, I said Grieve is the worst outfielder in baseball. No way I want him making this team. Borchard is a much better fit than Grieve is.

Sox vs. Diamondbacks (3/4, 1:05 P.M. CT)
QUOTE(Reddy @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) lol 8 lefties... each one is awful. i love it Wasn't that expected when we signed them? It's not like we were paying top dollar for any of these guys. KW was hoping for a diamond in the rough.

Sox vs. Diamondbacks (3/4, 1:05 P.M. CT)
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) They don't need to start turning it on until APril 4 or whatever it is. I completely disagree. If these hitters continue to struggle during Spring Training, then it could become a matter of confidence. There's still a while to go, so I'm not worried.

Cubs' reliever Scott Williamson on trading block
QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) Williamson and Hairston to Washington for Soriano? Considering that they gave up Wilkerson for Soriano, this would be an awful deal for the Nats. Williamson can't be counted on to stay healthy (Nats have a good bullpen as it is), and Hairston isn't exactly MLB starting caliber. Soriano would hit 40 homers if he played at Wrigley.

Hypothetical question
Also, considering we don't touch Santana, he would definitely be the pitcher I select.

Hypothetical question
QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 10:45 PM) Vlad. He did a great job winning games for the Sox last year.
-
Hypothetical question
Even though he sucked last year, I still think Carlos Beltran would be a great fit on this team in CF.

White Sox @ Dbacks
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) Not sure, but whomever it was he got absolutely SHELLACKED. Looks like it was supposed to be Liotta.

Ozzie calls out Jenks on his weight
I'm interested in seeing how Jenks responds to a full season in the majors. Between his weight, elbow, and stress of a full season, he's definitely a wild card this year.

Ozzie calls out Jenks on his weight
QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) You are kidding me, right...? You seriously didn't understand my comment..? I'll clarify... Yea he should say something.. to HIM. I definitely wish Ozzie would have just kept this comment to himself. There's no reason to call out Jenks in the media like that. We all love Ozzie for his honesty in the media. However, there are some players and some issues that might be better off being handled in private. Oh well, it's not a big deal.

White Sox @ Dbacks
FIREWORKS! Uribe and Dye have homered in the 3rd inning. 4-3 Dbacks

Cavs@Bulls
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) Do you watch every game? Ben Gordon can't dribble or pass. He's terrible. You don't give the ball to that guy under and circumstances. Yes, I watch every game, and the team you listed earlier with Hinrich, Deng, Chandler, Noc, etc. would be a great team if scoring wasn't important. Gordon might have a lot of weaknesses on the court. However, one of his greatest strengths has been his clutch performances at the end of games. I'm sick and f***ing tired of seeing Hinrich not come through at the end of games. He's the pro version of Chris Quinn. Great for 95 pct of the game, but downright pathetic for the final 5 pct of the game.
