  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) So who is going to be the first to make the Jeff Bajunaru appreciation thread?? The fans in right field afraid of getting hit by a Travis Hafner home run ball? Good luck Baj in Arizona.
  2. It's real simple...the Sox don't have any true backups that can play a solid SS. Ozuna can play there, but he's not exactly a wizard in the field. Also, I think Mackowiak's going to get a lot of playing time in the outfield this season.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Wow, Good trade for us, sad to see Baj go however. Do we really need Cintron when we already have Mack and Ozuna? It doesn't hurt to have another versatile infielder. Cintron can play SS a lot better than any of our backups can. In my mind, Baj wasn't going to ever be a factor for the White Sox, so to get a MLB caliber reserve for him is a great deal. This might mean the end for Gload though.
  4. If this is true, this is a fantastic trade!
  5. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) Rather than pitchers beating him, I saw Iguchi look just plain tired. His bat slowed down, which seemed to suggest fatigue more than pitchers owning him The fatigue seemed to be more mental. He just didn't seem to have a lot of focus at the plate, and was chasing pitches above his head and in the dirt. Oh well, at least he waited back on that curve by David Wells!
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) From GTech, goofy mother f***er, looks like Napoleon Dynamite, softest center in basketball history. Thats all you need to know. He looks soft, but he's actually a very smart player on the court. He's a great help defender (even though refs won't give him benefit of doubt right now). At least he gives the Bulls another tall guy instead of their 20th power forward at 6'8".
  7. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:44 AM) Iguchi struck out 114 times last season. I hope he doesn't strike out more than that this season. Oftentimes, he was in a hole because he was taking pitches so Podsednik could steal. He won't have to do that this season if he's batting sixth. What happened a lot was that pitchers would throw fastballs early in the count to avoid Pods stealing. Then, Iguchi would get in down in the count, and they'd put him away with a slider. I'd like to see him be aggressive at the plate this season.
  8. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:39 AM) Fathom, we have to get our PM convos back up pretty soon here. With Iguchi, is disagree 100%. I think Iguchi is going to have a big season in the 6 hole. I think his K's are going to go up, but I think thats to be expected with anyone going from the 2 hole to the 6 hole. I expect 23-25 HR's from Gooch, with about 85-90 RBI's. I have high expectations for him, and I really believe he is going to live up to them. We shall see... Yeah, that would be great if he could do that. To be honest, I think that his real poor stretch at the end of the season is fresh in my mind, so it lowers my expectations for him.
  9. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:14 AM) The league adjusted to our other Japanese import, Gooch will be just fine Do you really want to compare Iguchi's upcoming second year to Shingo's second year? Hell, we'll be begging to have Willie back if that's the case.
  10. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:08 AM) Care to elaborate? I felt like the league adjusted to him last season as the year went on, and Iguchi struggled to make his own adjustments. This is a very big year for Iguchi, and it's important for our lineup that he avoids the Sophomore Slump.
  11. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:06 AM) Does anyone else get the feeling Ross Gload has a s*** attitude? This is something that's been bugging me since last year. Ha, yes, I'm shocked he's still with this organization.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 03:04 AM) Our weakest hitter? That's rather bold. It's only been 13 at bats. Trust me, it's not the ABs so far this season which made me think this.
  13. I'm still concerned that Iguchi's going to be our weakest hitter this season. Doesn't seem like he's real comfortable at the plate so far.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:53 AM) If Konerko had left...he would have been basically our best option. I'm pretty sure KW had some moves in mind if Konerko went elsewhere.
  15. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) Just curious but why don't people think that Jerry Owens can't or won't be a starter in the MLB. What does Podsednik do that Owens can't do? Or is it just that you guys don't think that Podsednik is worthy of a starting LF job? For every guy like Podsednik who does enough to warrant a starting spot, there's someone like Tike Redman who just isn't worth the at-bats he receives.
  16. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Anderson is gonna be second on the team in strikeouts barring injury or if he gets benched for an extended period of time. Who's going to be first? Thome?
  17. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Anderson needs to lay off the breaking crap low and in the dirt. Otherwise, he will have the same annoying weakness as Rowand. Wow, that's scary how similar our posts were.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) his swing does appear kinda long. But he is pretty decent at making contact. I just have a feeling he's going to struggle at the low and away slider like Rowand did last season. However, the upgrade from Everett to Thome will offset any downgrade from Rowand to Anderson (even though everyone knows I wasn't a fan of Rowand). Iguchi is the guy I think will be key. He was swinging with no confidence at the end of last season.
  19. In 5 years, my opinion is that Sweeney has the best chance of being a good player for the White Sox. I'm not sold on Anderson, and I think Owens won't be a starter for the Sox. I'd really like to see Anderson shorten his swing.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) Straightest fastball this side of the Mason-Dixon Yep, it's definitely straight. It goes straight into the bleachers when he's facing good hitters.
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) I'm sure Ozzie and Coop are thinking the same way. They're not gonna have some unproven guy with an era over 6 on the team simply because he throws with his lefthand. cough Kevin Walker cough
  22. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Smokescreen. This left-handed "pitching" competition has been an absolute crock. Unless one of these "pitchers" shows they can consistently get out major-league hitters, they have no place on a defending World Championship roster. And neither did Kevin Walker last season, but Ozzie really wants to have two lefties in the bullpen. You're right though, I don't want any pitchers who aren't MLB caliber on the roster just cause they throw lefty.
  23. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) Borchard is better from the left side though, right? Yes, I've never liked his swing vs lefties. He seems to have no power from that side of the plate.
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Haha. Its true. I can see it! I know. All jokes aside, we appreciate the updates.
