  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) The Twins cut him, what does that tell you Josh? That had more to do with the roster situation than anything else. He's a great platoon player/3rd string catcher. However, I don't think we're in the market for that type of player, as Ozzie doesn't really like to use platoon players. I still think we would do well to get a righty power hitter for the bench. Eduardo Perez is a real solid bench player.

QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) IMO this team is far from done in terms of personnel moves. FAR from done. They are always planning ahead and if Konerko doesn't re up they've got Plan B firmly in place, KW and Hahn are not gonna get caught with their pants down. And I will guarantee that Ross Gload isn't part of Plan A/B/C/D, etc.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) This lineup wouldn't be all that bad but you're probably right. It looks like we'd be missing a big stick in the middle of the lineup. Podsednik LF Mueller DH/3B Thome 1B Dye RF Iguchi 2B Pierzynski C Crede 3B/DH Anderson CF Uribe SS That lineup would get you 3rd place in the AL Central

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Don't forget we are the defending world champions also. And how can we forget Pauly saying "What is it going to take for baseball people to realize we are a good team? And I came up with 1 thing... We are just going to have to go ahead and do this again next year" If Pauly is a man of his word- he will be back here! There's a few reasons why I think PK might be back next season, but I'm not going to put any stock into what he said at a victory rally. If victory rally speeches meant anything, Illinois would be facing Sean May tonight in their game.
  5. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 06:04 AM) I disagree with that statement. Re-sign Pauly and figure out what to do from there. With all the money we made why can't we re-sign AJP and Jon G to extensions also? I want the whole enchelata!!! Rick Hahn said if we re-sign PK it is almost certain BA will be our CFer. According to CSN this will be Ozzie's lineup as of today (IF PK comes back): Pods, Gooch, Dye, Thome, Pauly, AJP, Crede, Uribe, Anderson Solid! However, we lose some speed in Rowand. Unless BA can steal some bases for us?? Whats BA's speed like? I know his defense is there. Comcast had no clue what they were talking about. That was Plesac's basically clueless projection of the lineup. You forgot to mention he had Pods in CF, and Anderson in LF.

Prison Break was developed as a 2 year show. This break is the same thing they did with the O.C. (not that I watch it...my girlfriend sadly does though). Prison Break is a great show though.
  7. I had a feeling early last week that Rowand was going to be off the Sox within 10 days. Now, I have a feeling that PK will be with another team within 10 days. Maybe it's just me, but with the Thome addition, I honestly think it might be best for the Sox if PK goes elsewhere, and that money is used to re-sign AJP and Garland, and add a few other free agents.
  8. I bet the Cubs will be in the market for Zito.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) I had a chance to take a shot at you, had to be done. The Nomar thing actually makes perfect sense to me if Paul fell through. Not a problem. The funny thing is that I made the Pena prediction well before he actually had a monster end to his season.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) Don't forget his agent is also Frank's agent with whom the Sox have an excellent relationship. I had picked Nomar to sign with the Sox last year, as a favor to him to get him back on his feet again. I could still see this happening if all else fails. Another board also has a guy who usually has inside information that says Nomar is the back-up plan. I personally think it would be a great fit for Nomar, as he could play 3b if Crede has back problems. If you can put Nomar/Thome in the 3-4, and have enough money left to re-up Garland and AJP, that would be a great offseason.
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) Does that leave room for Carlos Pena? Ha, you know that was just some shot in the dark. The Nomar stuff is actually information that is out there. The Pena stuff was not.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) How so? What? Huh? It seems like the chances of the Sox resigning PK are fading by the day. I've heard from different sources that the Sox are interested in signing Nomar if PK goes elsewhere. Nomar would be a DH/back-up 3B.
  13. QUOTE(heirdog @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) If he can guarantee that 5th year at $13 mill per, he could really help get PK back but alas, it will fall to KW and Jerry. Prediction: Thome will be batting clean-up and protecting Dye Dye won't be batting 3rd. My prediction is that Nomar will be batting 3rd for the Sox next season.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Let's just hope it doesn't translate to the top FA on the market as well. I have a feeling that it's definitely going to. The best thing going for the White Sox right now is the whole Manny saga.
  15. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) losing the heart-and-soul stings now, but the 06-07 team is going to have a new heart-and-soul. that slot always seems to get filled... The heart and soul of this team was PK and Buehrle.
  16. The worms around home plate and the pitcher's mound are having a great time this Thanksgiving. Rowand killed so many of them last year, they were on the protection list from becoming extinct. Also, no one should be worried about how the clubhouse is after this trade. Thome is one of the best teammates in baseball. Trust me, if AJP can fit right in with this team, Thome will be just fine. Him and Buehrle can go hunting if they want. As for the prospects we gave up, while they're both highly rated, it's not like we have a history of getting the best out of every top pitching prospect in our system. KW took a risk, and I LOVE IT!
  17. If anyone is upset Rowand got traded, they should have seen this coming about 2 weeks ago when he was mentioned in nearly every trade scenario.
  18. Rumor is that it's Rowand and 2 prospects?
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Not if his '06 is anything like his '04. If that is the case his value will be 100X what it is right now IMO. And if his '06 season is like his '05 season, he'll have no value at all.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) It is truly a low risk/high reward situation, at least the way I look at it. Isn't that we should be doing after winning the World Series? Personally, I love the risk.
  21. How can people not be excited? He's easily our best lefty power hitter ever, and almost everyone thinks he'll be healthy. I'm personally not worried a second about the clubhouse. Thome is a GREAT guy. As long as we didn't give up one of our 5 core starting pitchers or Chris Young, this is great.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) Anybody thinks this trade is made if Rowand had, had a 2004 like season in 05? Not that it really matters. Just curious. No chance they would have traded him then. This is a great deal for the Sox.
  23. If the Mets sign Wagner also, this is a great deal for them. Closer has been a real weakness for them recently, and by adding one of the best in the game, getting a terrific offensive player like Delgado will only help. I also think losing Piazza will benefit the team in the long run.
  24. QUOTE(timotime @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) that's what i think too. why fix something that aint broken? Ask the Angels from a couple of years ago how that worked for them. The rest of the teams in the AL Central will very likely be much improved this upcoming season. I think this team could use a little tweak, especially at the DH spot.
  25. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) FWIW, he also said any deal for Delgado with Marlins would likely have to include B-Mac. So you mean we can't trade Rowand and Marte for Thome, Delgado, and Pierre?
