  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) I'd take either one on my team. Not to go off on a tangent here, but it baffles me how many people hate Manny on this site. He might be quite a strange fellow, but he's a phenomenal hitter.
  2. GREAT PLAY! That had all the makings of an infield miscue, but Iguchi showed a lot of patience.
  3. Looks like a lot of 4 seam fastballs so far.
  4. That's not the way you want to start things. I really question trying to change Garland's approach in the postseason in contrast to what he's done all year.
  5. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) Here comes the suspense: can Garland pitch after such a long rest? I just hope it's not a mental thing.
  6. What happened to Rowand's power? It looked like he drove that ball pretty well off the bat.
  7. The bottom of the 1st inning is huge for Garland. If he can get us right back in the dugout with a 3-0 lead, we'll have a ton of momentum.
  8. It's so huge to put up runs while the Angels have bad stuff on the mound.
  9. I'm nervous about tonight's game because I hate how there's already the built-in excuse for Garland in case he does bad. It will be great to see maturity by him and pitch over the perceived bad situation for his sinker.
  10. Has it been confirmed that the umpire never said "you're out"? I know AJP said he never heard it, and all I heard from Josh Paul was that the umpire never said "no catch".
  11. BTW, I hope no one takes this thread too seriously. It was meant to be in good fun.
  12. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 04:29 AM) I prefer a swift kick to the nuts That's implying Cubs fans have them.
  13. So, how will you answer the question we're all sure we'll hear tomorrow: "So, how much did you pay the umpires?" from a Cubs fan. Any suggestions? I was thinking things along the lines of: - the same amount that we paid Bartman to screw you guys in 2003. - the same amount we paid Ronnie Woo Woo to wash our car yesterday - the same amount that we paid the clubhouse attendant to put cork in Sosa's bat - the same amount that Prior and Wood paid for a round of golf yesterday
  14. This play was nothing like the Bartman play. The Bartman play still would have required a sensational catch by Alou, and the Cubs still weren't out of the inning. I'm thrilled we won...but we caught a huge break.
  15. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) I believe they protested it immediately. Is this something you heard? Only the Sox could have a situation where a playoff game is forced to resume due to a protest overturning a call. Of course, I know there's a .001 pct chance of the protest being successful. And yes, the only reason I could see them protesting is Eddings signaling that AJP was out.
  16. I know this is probably is a very amateurish question, but there's no way that the Angels protested this, is there?
  17. Blackjack McDowell just made a great f***ing point, one that I meant to make this afternoon. Everyone will b**** about the call tonight, but Cabrera got away with an illegal slide to break up that DP last night that gave the Angels the 3rd run. Cabrera came out of his slide and rolled into Iguchi. That's an illegal slide, and theoretically, it should have been a DP.
  18. We need a f***ing flare right now. He's going to throw the splitter, so just throw the bat out at it.
  19. Crede has had success against Escobar in the past.
  20. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Let's put him in the three hole. Yeah, in the minors.
  21. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Escobar is filthy tonite. Yes he is, but these guys are taking pitches right down the plate, and then totally playing into his approach by swinging at junk.
  22. Ozzie's really going to let his starter pitch into the 10th inning in an ALCS game?
