  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) YES!!!! THank goodness. Juan Pierre would have been a terrible fit. Thank you Yankees!!!!! I actually agree with you. I think it's time we give one of our young outfielders the chance to prove themselves, and it starts with Anderson this year.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) where are you getting this info? Did you speak to him directly? I would like the link where he says he wants to be a starter. There was a blurb about him on rotoworld a few days ago where it said he was looking to sign with a team where he would start. I think there's a significantly greater chance of Mueller or Burroughs being on this team than Graffy.
  3. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 07:02 AM) yet he b****es about the MAC not going to the BCS. Trust me, compared to the other main "coach" in the athletic department, Novak is a saint.
  4. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) If the Mueller thing doesn't work out, whats the deal with Graffinino? I know he's not LH but he is still the super sub KW and Ozzie want. He wants to be a starter next season, and I think there are a few teams interested in giving him the starting spot. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go back and start at 2nd base for the Royals.
  5. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 06:44 AM) i meant 2004. I should've wrote that. Anybody who thinks Prior or Zambrano could be anything more than a #5 starter on this team right now is delusional. WOW! I'd gladly exchange Prior or Zambrano for Garcia or McCarthy in a heartbeat. I'd also be willing to bet that those two will have a better season than Contreras this year also.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 06:26 AM) How about NO. Zambrano's their best pitcher, and it's not even close.
  7. I think with the 3-4-5 we have next year, we're betting off not bunting as much as we did last year. Thome's not exactly the type of guy you can rely on to hit a sac fly. Rather, you play for the 3 run homer with our 3-4 guys.
  8. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 04:23 AM) Yes he does make money but his conrtribution last year vs boston alone was worth his salary. Yeah, he earned his salary LAST YEAR. However, that 5 million or so would sure be nice to have for this year on players at a position where we actually need help.
  9. NIU = Chokers. They seemingly always choke in the "big" game. It's too bad, Novak's one of the nicest coaches I've known. Can't even come close to saying the same about many other people in their athletic department or were in their athletic dept.
  10. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 04:18 AM) Although I am not thrilled at the idea about duque being in the pen I love having him. He can step up anytime to spot start incase any of our starters won't be able to make their starts. He has a good influence on Count. Also his playoff experience, this guy might not be that great during the season but we all f***ing know he has cold blood during the playoffs. I really want to keep him. I love Duque for his playoff contributions. However, it would be a huge transaction if we're able to clear his salary. He's making way too much money for the role he'll likely be in.
  11. Uribe to the 2nd spot? I acutally like it, but we're going to have to deal with his prolonged slumps.
  12. Please, no Duque as a starter! Hopefully he'll demand a trade.
  13. I know someone who's seen Gathright play a ton of games in the minors, and he continues to state he's extremely, extremely overrated. He has the lightning speed, but besides that, he's below average in almost every other possible attribute required to be a good MLB player.
  14. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) I think Ozuna is also our backup shortstop. UM NO....that would be Jermaine Dye! Yes, Ozuna will be the SS in case something happens with Uribe. I just think it's very important with the slow pokes on our team that there's someone with a lot of speed on the bench. Willie won't be back, so there goes one option.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) I don't like the idea of Mueller as a utility man...I think Pablo proved pretty well to me that there are decent backup options out there for less money if you're willing to look. I also think that's a lot of money for a backup...and there are enough teams that would probably give Mueller a starting role that I doubt it'll happen anyway (would he really be a downgrade for the Twins?) Ozuna's main role next year will likely be as speed guy off the bench in order to run for Thome, Konerko, or AJP late in the game. Also, if we bring back Timo, then he'll likely be the back-up LF against tough lefties.
  16. QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) Getting a muller or randa is very vital to this season and the future. If you look at it this way Joe Crede's back is not problem. You all saw what he did when he came back from dl and if he was suffering then no one was telling us about problem. I believe that since his agent is Scot Boras that price of a Joe Crede stock will be sky rocket come 2006 free agency. Muller contract will be more than 1 yr and that will be our future 3b. If Crede goes elsewhere, Josh Fields will be our future 3B.
  17. Feel free to provide updates for those that can't listen. Thanks
  18. It's great we were able to bring him back and not have to trade the farm in order to find his replacement.
  19. Congrats to PK, KW, and especially JR. This is an absolutely huge deal in terms of the reputation of the White Sox.
  20. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) I would like to know if Thome was able to call and talk to him, as well as KW. Thome talked to PK in the last couple of days. However, I HIGHLY doubt that will have any impact on Konerko's decision.
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) How would people feel if PK left for less money (or the same amount)? That would just be ugly. Sadly, it's going to get ugly if PK leaves no matter what the contract is. At least the winter meetings are soon, so rumors will pop up every day about possible replacements.
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) No, I mean this time. Fathom was saying do you think it is damage control for if we lose him, but I havent heard anything like that out of Sox brass this time around. I thought there had been some talk the last couple of days that it was the White Sox brass who were "upset" that this information has been released again?
  23. Anyone think that this might be a little damage control by the Sox because they think PK is going to the Angels? You know, start to emphasize the hip condition as a reason why they didn't want to give him the 5th year on his deal, etc? Also, by no means am I criticizing the Sox for doing this. For that big of a contract, you better be sure that he's not a likely risk to have his health deteriorate a lot during the length of the deal.
  24. Purdue looked worse than any team I've ever seen in the Big 10/ACC Challenge. Not only can they not handle the ball, shoot, pass, or defend, I was disgusted by the awful attitudes I saw by many of the players. While I think Minnoy is an interesting talent, I'll guarantee there's no chance that he remains in school for four years (and no, I don't think he's going pro).
  25. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) I still think his 2003 struggles were hip- related. Paulie also looks thinner (not just his hair) to me the past couple of years, maybe to take some of weight and pressure off his hip? There was nothing noticeable about Belle's hip when he played for the White Sox, and considering how quickly he went from being basically an ironman playing every inning of every game to not being able to play at all, it would make me very leery of giving Konerko the same contract. If you didn't know who he was, you'd never think PK was an athlete when you see him off the field. I saw him in the lobby of a hotel once, and was stunned at how thin he seemed to be.
