  1. Well, we knew it wasn't going to be that easy.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) Even if he fields it cleanly he's safe, and i gaurentee he goes. Sure. Rivera was pausing briefly as he was rounding first, and then kept going when he saw it on the ground.
  3. Haha, good defense Pods. Tough play, but if he fields that cleanly, Rivera doesn't try to get to 2nd.
  4. Haha, that ball was right down the middle.
  5. Iguchi is opening up way too early right now. I was going to suggest Willie start tonight, but we're obviously sticking with this lineup.
  6. We're not going to get any calls tonight, so we can't allow the umpires to dictate what goes on.
  7. Any chance that the game gets postponed tonight?
  8. Redandwhite....when I'm agreeing with Felix and Rowand44 in the same thread, there most be some flaw in your argument!
  9. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) With all due respect, to the both of you, that is just ridiculous. No, it's actually not. Unlike you, I don't have any bias when it comes to Red Sox players. And don't even try to accuse me of having a bias towards Everett, as I was completely on the keep Everett off the field bandwagon this offseason.
  10. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) To help cheer me up from the Steelers loss a little, the Tar Heels finished off one of the all-time great recruiting classes. http://northcarolina.scout.com/2/453159.html Not like anyone else cares :-P That's an insane class. With the new NBA age limit, you're going to see more of these type of superstar classes where the players think they can come in and win it all their freshman year.
  11. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) Manny won't be traded within the division and to be honest I don't think he'll be traded at all. As for his defense, he is the most underrated defensive player in the game as I stated earlier. I respectfully say that you're nuts to think he's the most underrated defensive player. He plays the easiest outfield position in baseball in LF at Boston, as he can play about 220 feet away from home plate. He is terrible on fly balls to either side of him, and struggles going back on fly balls. To say he's underrated is just ridiculous. He's a bad defensive player, no other way to state it. I would take Carl Everett over him in the outfield, and trust me when I say I'm not a fan of Everett in the field.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) You know there is absolutely no chance that the cubs land Giles and Furcal, NO WAY. I think Damon ends up with the skanks, I'm hoping he's right about Pauly though. EDIT: BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, didn't even notice the Brown prediction. I think the Cubs have an outstanding chance of getting Giles and Furcal. They're going to have a lot of money free to spend, and they already have most of the expensive positions set. Furcal has long been rumored to be the main priority for the Cubs, and I know they've been interested in Giles for a while. The one thing I remember about Giles is that he didn't want to play in the Midwest when he was rumored to be traded by the Pirates.
  13. Please don't say Rowand has been putting good swings on the ball. He's showing no patience at the plate, and is making a ton of weak outs.
  14. Actually, I think the predictions seem to be pretty solid.
  15. QUOTE(Fotop @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) oh ndnation...that board can get out of hand sometimes, and by sometimes i mean daily. Yes it can. I used to love the daily Chris Thomas wars that went on over the past few seasons.
  16. QUOTE(Fotop @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 07:07 AM) So I've finally unwound from the sports day that I just had...tailgating, then USC v. ND, then the white sox. And I just have a few things to say about the ND game: 1) In response to fathom, I don't think many of us were b****ing that we got screwed after the fact. At the time, ya people were flipping out but you have to realize when you see that clock hit zero and your team with more points than U S fricken C you're gonna get pretty hyped...and to go from that to what happened thirty seconds later is devastating. After the fact though, we've all pretty much realized that we were the ones that lost the game. We were about 2inches from breaking up a 4th and 9, we missed a FG, made some bad plays, all in all we didn't play our best game (i'm not saying usc did either). We had plenty of chances to end it ourselves. Some people on ndnation are acting like it was the worst officiated game in history. But kudos to you...at least your realize it was a fantastic game and that these teams will likely play quite a few top 10 duals in the next few years.
  17. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) With the increase in payroll due to our success, I dont think we would lose anyone. Plus, I only said 18 million if neccessary. Offer him $50 million/4 years and he wouldnt reject it. He's put himself into a position where he'll get more than 4/50 due to team's bidding on him.
  18. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) Where'd you come up with that number? A few weeks ago, Felix said that we should pay PK 18 million a year.
  19. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) Sign him. I dont care the price, f*** the price. He's winning these games for us. Just sign him. For 18 million a year? If he does that, then you can kiss one of our starters goodbye.
  20. f***ING AMAZING! Well done Garcia, PK, Pods, Everett, and company.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 03:01 AM) Garcia was awesome. It's the best change-up he's had since he's been with the Sox.
  22. Give Garcia two more batters, and if he can't get them out, bring in Cotts.
  23. Well, if that run comes back to hurt us, we don't deserve to win this game.
