  1. Buehrle keeps trying to make the perfect pitch, and he's putting the Indians in good hitting counts.
  2. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) i hate these hitters... that was such a horrible swing. These hitters don't know how to take a line drive swing.
  3. Rowand continues to just struggle big time vs righties.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) Meatballs to Hafner, you cant teach that....... He's a dead fastball hitter, and we keep just putting them right down the plate.
  5. When are we going to stop throwing Hafner fastballs? Buehrle continues to show just absolutely no courage on the mound.
  6. You just have to laugh!
  7. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Well at least Mark Buehrle is going to put stop to this mess. I'm so f***ing sick of hearing that. We've been saying that for a month now.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Aaron Boone is going to single handidly ruin our season. I'm thinking there's a lot of people who can get that award, starting with some of our supposed aces.
  9. Buehrle continues to absolutely tank.
  10. Both the Yankees and Red Sox have their games won tonight, so this is an even bigger game.
  11. The outfield doesn't look overly crowded. Should be a lot better attendance than it looks like it's going to be. Oh well...JUST WIN!
  12. Yankees leading 5-3 in the 2nd inning, and Red Sox are leading 5-1. David Ortiz is just ridiculous.
  13. Yankees and Red Sox look to be in good shape to win their games tonight, as the Yankees have just jumped all over the Orioles. When will this nightmare end?
  14. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) First off, it's been at least since 2000 that the Indians competed for anything. Second, are we really better off if we have Jones? He's hitting with a lot of power this year, but not much average, and he's signed for several more years and a lot more money. Plus we were still trying to resign Maggs. Third, pretty much everyone is back next year, with only Paulie a strong possibility to go. Holy s***! Andruw Jones is the MVP of the National League, and that's not including his great defense. Good grief....it's not a crime to admit that other players besides White Sox personnel are excellent players. You put Andruw at the Cell, and he could have 60 homers this year.
  15. Zoom...I'd hate to see your evaluation of the Sox players then. Perralta is having a terrific offensive season for the Indians, and will likely keep getting better. Who would have thought that this year, Sizemore and Perralta would just destroy Rowand and Uribe in terms of offensive production?
  16. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) This is not KW's fault at all in my view. Quite frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing him put on a uniform and manage the rest of the way. He can't be any worse than the moron we have in the dugout right now. BRAVO!!!
  17. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) Don't make the Indians out to be this ungodly good team with a superb manager. They're where they are right now because they traded off the bulk of their veterans while they were still decent and have been brutal since 2000. In breaking up their team, they somehow convinced Montreal to give up most of their farm system for Bartolo Colon, managed to get Hafner and I think Hafner for almost nothing and I believe they drafted Sabathia. They managed to have like all of their prospects pan out over that stretch (with the exception of Brandon Phillips). No matter how good your scouting in that takes some luck. Plus, they decided to give a decent sum of money to Juan Gonzalez, and I'll eat an Indians hat if Millwood pitches this well for the rest of his contract. So it's just luck that a lot of their young guys have panned out? Sometimes, you have to give credit where it's due. They risked a few years of losing and poor attendance to reload the entire organization. They're in great position to have about 5 years of World Series caliber teams.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) Dye is at his peak value right now. Alot of Gm's will repeat what you just said. Even though this is matching his career year, and he hasnt been this good in quite awhile, we assume this is how he will be. The fact that he hasnt been injured and has played this many games, is a smoke screen in his injury filled career. This is why i think we should unload him. What are we going to get for Dye? We almost definitely wouldn't get back a hitter better than him. Here's an idea this offseason: no trades in which we get a lesser hitter in exchange for a more proven hitter.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Alot of people may have a knee jerk reaction to this idea. But after awhile I thought it actually made some sense. I think we need to get a little younger at this point and see if our home grown talent can support our young pitching staff. Trade Dye put anderson in the OF. Keep Borchard as additional OF help. Use that money to grab a BP arm or possibly help in Kong's replacement. Getting rid of Carl, Kong's, Dye's and maybe Franks salary, oh and El Duque really frees up some serious payroll and maybe makes us younger and a little more hungry and ready for the long run? If you trade Dye, and have an outfield of Pods, Rowand, and Anderson, you're just asking for an even worse offense next season. Dye has a very solid contract for next season, and he's basically a lock to hit between 25 and 30 homers. Don't forget he's also a solid veteran who you'll never hear a single bad word about. I'd much rather get rid of Pods or Rowand.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) decent relief, which will be possibly restructured next year. Decent starting pitching. Bad defense, good power, but they are subject to slumping much like our old team. So soon we forget how terrible they were. They got hotter than any team I have ever seen, but thats always a funny thing. They have the best overall relief in the American League. Last I looked, while the Sox bullpen keeps blowing late leads, Wickman and company keep getting the job done. Also, to stay hot for as long as they have, it requires more than luck....it's talent! Their starting pitching is very solid, especially with C.C. improving from his awful start.
  21. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) R u kidding, the Sexson hit was a desperate slap to cover the outside corner and it happened to stay fair!! Why dont you be a darling and adopt the Rally Crede!!! Everyone is doin it!!! Slap? That was a rocket as all Sexson had to do was drop the barrel of the bat on the heater. This is the type of stuff that Jenks will perfect over time. I'm too lazy to adopt the Rally Crede....just as I'm too lazy to start fireozzieguillen.com.
  22. QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) the sox had holes coming into the season. Every team with a payroll less than $100 has holes. But he's done a good job getting the right kind of players [mostly through Ozzie's prodding and style of play] I'd say this current Indians team doesn't have very many holes. Good speed, good power, good average, deep starting pitching, great relief.
  23. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Yet most hitters havent touched it!!! Most hitters haven't touched his high fastball or his good slider/curve. He's been hurt this season if he hangs his curve or when he gets his fastball down and over the plate (Boone, Sexson).
  24. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) Give Boone credit, it was a 99 MPH fastball that not many guys in the league catch up with even they know its coming and he smoked it, I wouldnt say it was a hiccup by jenks but rather a great piece of hitting by Boone! Most MLB hitters can drop the barrel on a low fastball, no matter what the speed is. Especially on a pitch with very little movement, that was as big of a meatball as Jenks could have thrown with his fastball.
