Haha....base running always seems just a little too difficult for the Sox.

Holy cow! What a great f***ing AB by Dye fighting off tough pitch after tough pitch. Still don't think it was smart to give up the first out.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) like he said, welcome to the natl league fathom. It's too early to jerk your starter. Why is it too early? We have plenty of guys to go to that are fresh, and enough to not compromise the rest of the series. When you're down by 3, you need to worry about scoring first, and let the pitching resolve itself. Good discussion though

How about a 320 ft homer Dye?

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) WE HAVE A BULLPEN FULL OF GUYS WHO HAVEN'T BEEN USED! What's the point of having Vizcaino if we're not going to play the game with urgency? who says we're not going to play this game with urgency fathom? This pitcher ain't exactly James Baldwin. He can make ya look dead. The urgency aspect is this: Who knows how many more chances we'll get in this game. We had a runner on base with the number 9 hitter coming up. If you get that number 9 hitter on base, then you have the chance at a big inning with the top of the order coming up. It's not like we need to keep Garland in because he's doing such a good job at shutting down the Astros.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) So you think Vizcaino gives us a better chance right now? I just absolutey HATED giving up the first out of the inning with someone who isn't used to swinging.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) we need more longballs. we ain't a small ball team Especially at a place where you can't score from 2nd on a single to LF (unless Pods is in the outfield).

Stupid managing....but it likely won't have an impact on the outcome of this game.

We have to play for the big inning. A sac bunt just gives them that first out, and settles down Oswalt.

PH for Garland! Nope...ugh

Wow, what a swing by Crede. Give him that extension, he deserves it!

I agree with whoever said something about getting Duque, Marte, and Hermanson some work tonight.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Plenty of pitchers succeed without showing an ounce of toughness. Let's find other things wrong with Jon like his control or consistency before attacking his character. Would it be better if I said intensity instead of toughness? I meant it more in regards to physical attribute rather than emotional/mental attributre.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) This stadium is such a piece of crap Why? That ball was absolutely smoked. I happen to enjoy this field, as it brings another dimension to games.

This would be the greatest comeback in Sox history tonight. They don't have a lick of momentum in this game, and you can tell the Astros sense this game is locked up already.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) You forgot about not showing toughness. I'm not one of the Friends of Judy posters, but I've long thought that main thing that keeps Garland from being a top-notch MLB pitcher is his lack of consistent toughness. I know he's a laid-back guy, but sometimes when the game gets intense, you need to match that intensity. Not to get annoying, but we're not facing Vlad and company anymore. These guys have taken great swings throughout this series, and in a way, we're lucky we're up 2-0 coming into today.

I just hope Ozzie is aware that it's quite possible Garland will have to pitch on Sunday. Thus, absolutely no reason to keep him in this game for 7 or 8 innings if the Sox continue to trail in this game.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Pissed himself again..yes cause he's been pissing himself while being a defensive wizard all post season long. I love how when anyone screws up they're always choking or pissing themselves. Well said

QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) No Konerko shouldnt get blamed. he was on the correct side of the bag, uribe just pissed himself again and f***ed up...o well u gotta move on PK was standing flat-footed on 1B as if he was expecting a throw where their was a force out at first. He didn't come close to giving Uribe a good angle to throw.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) How the hell do you determine toughness from a pitcher? Are you tough if you don't give up runs? Are you tough if you get lucky and the batter hits it right at a fielder? What exactly establishes toughness in a pitcher, and how the hell do you judge it? I think we've all seen a lot of the good and the bad Garland this season. When he's gone out and showed some balls, you could seem him buckle down in big situations and not just throw poor pitch after poor pitch. We're lucky Ensberg didn't end this game in the 3rd inning. His sinker is extremely flat, and like I mentioned earlier, our starters aren't coming close to keeping their hitters off-balanced.

QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) okay, thanks to Uribe's brilliant throw (did he realize that everett was not a sox) we are down 2 more...f***ing awful I've changed my tone, and that was PK's fault. Look at the replays. He gave Uribe no angle to throw that ball.
