Baker doesn't even have great control. We've been able to work the count on him and draw some walks when we're not weakly making outs on the first pitch.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Yes it does. Caught stealing totals don't include pickoffs if the player was headed back to the base.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) It kinda feels like the perfect storm. Everything is going against us. Great D, perfect throws. Mercy. It starts with the Sox. Good defense is just another obstacle they have to overcome. KC played some real poor defense in the last series, but we just made stupider decisions and played even worse defense.

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Horrible jump by Pods. Has been thrown out 22 times now. Don't forget about the 8 times he's been picked off that don't count towards that number.

What an absolute joke. Pods might as well be on the bench now, he's making an out on the bases everytime he gets on base. Here's an idea.....if he's in such a slump on the bases, DONT SEND HIM! Indians lead 3-1 going into the bottom of the 8th. They're playing superb defense.

Another weak grounder to SS. Our hitters look like they can't touch the inside fastball by Baker.

Game Thread -- Friday, September 16th
Ok, enough first pitch swinging. We're making this way too easy for Baker.

After 4 innings, game is tied at 1.

Indians are up 3-1, one out in the top of the 8th. Even Scott Elarton is shutting down teams now. They're having an unbelievable run of great starting pitching.

QUOTE(BFirebird @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) Somebody mentioned it earlier but this has been as spot on as Hawk has been in awhile. Good criticism when needed and actually good commentating. When did Hawk become a real broadcaster? When he realized that this wasn't the greatest team ever made?

Jones and Hunter seem absolutely giddy on the bench. The Twins are definitely playing loose tonight.

Was that a high change-up by Garland on the homer, or just a weak fastball?
-
Game Thread -- Friday, September 16th
Hawk's ripping into Garland for pitching behind in the count to a lot of the hitters.
-
Game Thread -- Friday, September 16th
1-1 on a Jones homer. Garland has got to keep the ball down in the zone.

2 pitches, 2 outs

Garland keeps pitching over the leadoff singles.

Another leadoff single by the Twins.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) ugh He can't go back into the 4th spot fast enough. Against the lefty tomorrow, no problem with putting Rowand in the 3rd hole. Why won't Ozzie just give Dye once chance in the 3rd hole?

Game Thread -- Friday, September 16th
PK absolute just missed that pitch. A week ago, and it's 4-0.
-
Game Thread -- Friday, September 16th
Time for PK in the 3rd hole to pay dividends.

QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) The two TV guys are absolutely on top of their game. They are not sparing the criticism AT ALL. Excellent, and fair, analysis. They know what they're talking about too. Yes they are. Even Hawk basically suggested they deserved to lose all 3 games to KC.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) Baker has a perfect game going. Eight up, eight down. And making it look very easy.

Uribe weakly grounds out to SS. That's 4 out of 8 outs to the SS. Where's SSI?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) Garland is throwing harder tonight. He's hitting 93-94, and it even looks like he's throwing a little harder. Problem is, when he throws harder, he throws straighter, and doesn't get movement on his sinker/two seamer. Just something I'm gonna keep an eye on. Absolutely agree with that. His 94 mph pitches have been very hittable, and I have a feeling it's just a matter of time before one of those go a long way off the bat of Mauer.
