  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) He gave up 3 runs to Boston in one game. He gave up 2 runs to Oakland in one game. But you are right. He got murded in all five. It's easy to make a case if you don't use facts. Aren't you taking into account earned runs, and not unearned runs also? He pitched real poor in both of those games, and even though some runs weren't earned, he still pitched bad. We get over guys like Contreras and Garland when they can't pitch over errors....yet Buehrle has been worse than anyone on the staff overcoming defensive errors. jphat...I don't think we're attacking Buehrle saying he stinks. Rather, a lot of us would like to see him step his game up against the top teams, since we definitely know our offense won't win us the game. I don't want to speak for anyone else, but I love Buehrle's attitude and he's one of my favorite players on the team.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) I stated a fact. There is no apologizing. How can you be an apologist for the best team in the AL. YOu want a winner? You have one, by 5.5 games in the freaking AL. I just get sick of some of these incredibly dumb posts I'm reading. Watch the personal attacks
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) But he hasn't. Thats just the f***ing thing. Nobody bothers to look anything up. He's gotten hit around by Oakland twice and Boston once. Lots of awesome pitchers get beat around by those guys. Seriously. At least do some research before spouting off garbage. Two of his non QS are against KC. I suppose that makes him not a great pitcher because he can't dominate the bad teams. I mean, i just can't believe what I"m reading. He struggled against Boston and Oakland. He's struggled in 2 out of 3 games against the Twins. He's having a very good season...but he has to pick up his game the rest of the way.
  4. Our number 3 hitter continues to struggle when he's not hitting homers or facing Joe Mays.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) And theres a good reason for that. They have good freaking offenses. And he still has a quality start against BOTH of those teams. I just can't believe what I am reading. I get dumber by the minute reading this thread. I'd still take Buehrle over 90 pct of the pitchers in baseball. I think people are just disappointed that he's struggled against the top teams he's faced this year.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) whats our record since the break, and whats clevelands? What's Cleveland's record this month, and what's ours? If we don't play better, and they continue hitting the way they're doing, this division is very much up for grabs. Scoring 2 runs a game is not going to give our pitchers enough with their red-hot offense.
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Nevermind the fact that he's hit the ball hard twice. I'm just saying, it's not just him. Everyone in the media seemed to think that just cause Pods was back, it would mean the entire offense would pick up.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Our pitching has been phenominal. We cant expect the staff to toss up zeros everytime they go up there. Sometimes they have a bad start, it happens. But our offense cannot compensate for that. Sometimes the offense has to win games for your team. It's that simple.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Last time I checked, we were the team 31 games over .500 with the best record in the AL. Who are the indians? The team with the ability to come from behind in games and win lately. Meanwhile, once we get down by more than 1 run, the game's an automatic loss this month.
  10. I thought Pods was supposed to jumpstart this offense?
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) Didn't he get beat by them before that, twice? Yes he did.
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) wow, is everyone going to start posting their suicide notes soon? There are nights like this, the game is not over, we have come back in games like this before. We have? Are you sure you're not talking about the Indians?
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) So you go replace your starting infield on teh best team in the AL? THere is a reason you guys aren't GMs. No, but you have a better option than Timo Perez to rotate with your outfielders when they're struggling. How many guys can be like 3 for their last 30 before you put someone else in at their position and try to get a spark? BTW jphat....good conversation tonight. I don't feel like this is personal at all tonight, and we're just discussing baseball.
  14. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) Lol. You're kidding right. He's underperformed in the 2nd half of the season.
  15. Am I the only one who feels like we're just trying to hang on to our division lead? It definitely doesn't feel like a situation where we're on top, and the organization has the killer instinct.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) Exactly. we need them to start playing better, not try to go find replacements for them. This team has played poorly ever since the Baltimore series. Coincidentally, that was right at the trade deadline.
  17. Ordonez K's looking to end the Tigers threat. 7 game lead, here we come! BTW, I'm not happy about that, before some accuses me of being happy.
  18. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) Who knows come playoff time. All it takes is one magical series or game for a team to catch fire and win it all IMO. I agree...you just have to make the playoffs first.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) Who on this thread honesty thinks the White Sox as they are constructed right now are serious WS contenders? Not I. I'm still greatly concerned we're not making the playoffs. I see one team playing loose and with a ton of confidence...and the Sox seem to be playing not to lose. How are we going to beat the Indians when we play them if they continue to hit so well?
  20. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) We could only put a average player at one position. It would take an above average player at pretty much everywhere else except SS and Uribe is our SS for his D. Todd Walker would come off the bench. So would Lawton. and a bunch of others i've seen named. Ibanez is comparable to Everett at DH. SS, 3B, DH, and 4th outfielder. Those were all areas we could have really used an upgrade.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) If we could have gotten Randa and Griffey that would have been great. They were two upgrades at those positions. But Griffey didn't want to come, and KW got outbid for Randa. What are you going to do? My point is that you just can't point at a player and say that you wnat him and he'll magically come to the team. But when your team clearly needs offensive help, you have to find some type of spark. The thing that has concerned me most with KW has been that he's seemed to get fixated on Huff or Griffey Jr. All along, I keep hearing how we would only add a superstar. Well, at quite a few positions, even an average player would be an upgrade over what we have.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) KW has no reason to lie. HA! I would be mad if KW didn't lie in a situation like that. It would look bad for him and the organization if he said that another team offered a better package for a player. KW is a very smooth talker, and he knows what people want to hear.
  23. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) KW already said the package he offered Cinci for Randa was much better than what SD offerred. He can't make them accept the deal. I'm not saying you're wrong...but what do you expect KW to say? Yes, we tried to low ball the Reds, but we couldn't get Randa? Of course he's going to say he had a great offer.
  24. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) Not so much. We suck right now. :banghead Our offense has sucked for quite a while.
