Don't Look Now Volume 2
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 03:39 AM) Seems like recently neither the Yanks or Indians will lose, only us. Those teams have been find any and every possible way to win lately. They definitely sense that they're in the stretch run.

Buerhle's comments, regardind Indians Series
If our team motto is win or die trying, then if the Sox don't win, Ozzie should be fired.

Confidence
The most disturbing thing I've been seeing in the paper is that some of our players aren't confident in their ability. Just tonight, both Pods and Duque say that they don't have confidence in aspects of their game. Right now is not the time for these players to buckle under the pressure. If they can't do their job, get them the hell off the field.

Official College Football Thread
If you get fox sports, do yourself a favor and put the USC game on. Quite possibly the greatest offense you'll ever see in college.

Back to the 1940s - Sox vs Twinkies 9-17
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) All media outlets are doing a choke watch now. ESPN, Foxsports, etc. So f***ing sad. Good, the Sox deserve it. If they do blow this lead and miss the playoffs, they deserve to be the laughingstock of MLB.

Down the Stretch...
Cleveland wins 5-4. KC had a chance, but bad managing and one of the worst ABs you'll ever see from Huber result in Indians win.
-
Down the Stretch...
Oakland being the worthless assholes we've always known them to be, as they've lost 4 straight to Cleveland and Boston. Why is it that every day, we feel like the worst is going to happen that day in regards to baseball outcomes, and it comes true?
-
Will El Duque be a starter for the playoffs?
If he keeps starting, we won't have to worry about the playoffs.
-
Have We Been Spoiled?
Indians on the verge of blowing out KC tonight.
-
Back to the 1940s - Sox vs Twinkies 9-17
3-0 Cleveland, with men on 1st and 3rd. 3.5 lead, here we come!
-
Have We Been Spoiled?
Lead might as well be 3.5, as Indians are about to put up a big crooked number in the first inning.
-
Back to the 1940s - Sox vs Twinkies 9-17
2 batters up for Cleveland, 2-0 game. This is how you beat a s***ty team! The Indians are playing so loose and with so much confidence.
-
Down the Stretch...
Yankees win 1-0. Blue Jays had the first two guys on base against Gordon in the 9th, but couldn't do anything. This nightmare just gets worse by the day, doesn't it?
-
Down the Stretch...
Yankees are still up 1-0 after 7 innings. Chacon continues to be a huge addition to the Yankees starting rotation.

what is our magic number?
I love these posts.

Step it Up El Duque!!!!!
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) No doubt about it. You would think a team would be able to make some damn adjustments after you've seen him a few times. But this is the White Sox we're talking about. There's not a hitter on the Sox that you watch and think "wow, he made some great adjustments at the plate".
-
Down the Stretch...
Yankees are up 1-0 after 2 innings.

Step it Up El Duque!!!!!
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Well, we all know El Duque is beyond done. But we would've lost this game regardless of who pitched. Johan Santana is this team's daddy. He's 4-0 against us with an era of like 1. This team can't hit elite pitching for s***. Well, we face him again, so that's another loss.

Step it Up El Duque!!!!!
QUOTE(Toto Testosterone @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) 2 months? Try 15. If only Ozzie's managerial ineptitude was limited to his Dusty-esque treatment of Duque - except, Dusty grossely mishandled Prior, a young & then-healthy stud not a 45 year old cripple; and it's not as if Dusty had Jenks, Cotts, Polite, Hermanson, Bajenaru and (since-may, anyway) Vizcaino at his disposal...... then the Sox would be in GREAT shape. Alas, Ozzie has failed in just about every sense, including what was supposed to be his only strong suit - ie. kicking ass and forcing people to, among other things, stop blatantly swinging for the LF fence, Uribe and Crede in particular. His failures are well-documented and most of them were FIRST-guessed, too. Trust me, I never liked Ozzie's managing. When I mentioned the 2 month aspect, it was just to state that I disliked him even before we started struggling.

Have We Been Spoiled?
If the White Sox blow this lead and don't make the playoffs, this season will have harmed this organization a lot more than any 81-81 season could have ever done.
-
Step it Up El Duque!!!!!
If Ozzie starts Duque again, you're going to see an unbelievable backlash against the manager by the fans and the media.

Step it Up El Duque!!!!!
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) f*** YOU OZZIE you have got to be kidding me. If he starts next, I dont know what the f*** I am going to do. This is insane. Not even the biggest Ozzie apologists will be able to justify Duque starting again. He's the worst manager I've ever seen, and I was saying that 2 months ago. He's done nothing but support my feelings lately that he's absolutely clueless and needs to stop favoring certain players.

Back to the 1940s - Sox vs Twinkies 9-17
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) I suppose you'd be a better hitting coach, eh? Why don't you stop questioning people that clearly know what they're doing and have us with the BEST RECORD IN THE AL?! The negativity here blows my mind sometimes. It's frightening. If you know so much about baseball, then why aren't you managing?

In the American League, you need HITTING!

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) From the looks of it, I sure am sorry I couldn't watch that game.... Instead I had a very nice time at my daughter's soccer game. Her team lost 2-0, but they tried hard and had fun. She had a few scoring chances, but the goalie was pretty good and made the saves. It's too bad the opposing team's coach played that goalie, and not the veteran goalie on the bench who earned the right to play because of her performances in recent years before she tore her ACL.
