Absolutely f***ing pathetic. Meanwhile, our manager sits on his ass waiting for the 3 run homer.

Not the time for Pods to try and swing for his first homer.

AJP trying to pull a low change-up off the outside corner. Just a terrible approach (btw, Donkey, I avoided saying swinging for the fences).

QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) Anyone notice lately that Pods has been swinging a lot more freely, instead of taking pitches and working a count? Hope the disease isn't spreading to him. As of last week, he had walked like 3 times in his previous 24 games. He's been a little more effective lately at drawing walks, but he's still a lot different at the plate than he was earlier in the year.

Shingo looked great that inning, but I don't like his chances against the heart of the Tigers lineup next inning. We really need to score a run this inning.

Great job by Shingo there of keeping the ball down. My eyes might have been playing tricks on me, but did Iguchi almost come up too early on that ball?

Seen this story with Polanco up, haven't we?

QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) If we lose tonight it will be only are 6th? lose vs a AL central team, and are 25th lose all year. Facts are stubbourn things. If you think that this particular offense is going to be able to perform at the high level that you seem to think they will, then you're just as delusional as anyone here who's supposedly a bad fan for saying Frank sucks right now, etc.

QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) Ozzie needs to bring in Nermy. Viz has got nothing in the tank. Hermanson will not pitch unless it's a save situation. Ozzie is on the record saying that is a 100 pct guarantee.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) He should have never been tossed out there for a 3rd inning. We have seen this before... With all the off days we've had recently, no excuse for us not to have a fresh bullpen.

Sox vs. Tigers 6/29/05 6:05 CST Gamethread
You never want your reliever to see the same batters twice in a game. I have no clue what Ozzie is thinking right now. And there's a hit.......f*** YOU OZZIE

Sox vs. Tigers 6/29/05 6:05 CST Gamethread
Viz should not be out there still. I guess Ozzie is trying to duplicate the 7th inning by leaving his pitcher in for one batter too many.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) Frank doesn't need bandwagon fans. Any of you guys saying "f*** Frank Thomas," it's way past your bedtimes. I'm not saying f*** Frank Thomas, but I think his mindset and approach at the plate right now is selfish and not good for this team.

Besides Pods, we have to be the slowest team in baseball.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) Some people are f***ing retarded what can i say. He is taking 3.97 pitches per at-bat ( not updated for todays game). In his career he has averaged 4.04 pitchers per at-bat. So a batter that arguably has the best eye in baseball ( not bonds, i could walk when pitches are thrown four feet off the plate because i am so juiced up no one will pitch to me) should start taking less pitches? He is a obp monster for a reason. Isn't it obvious the more pitches you see in an at-bat it is more likely the pitcher makes a mistake? Trust me, I'm not concerned with how many pitches Thomas sees. My biggest concern is his approach at the plate in terms of swinging for the fences seemingly no matter what the situation is.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) Scared the crap out of me. Anyways Viz looked much better today, he needs to use that sinker of his some more that thing just dies low and away to lefties. There's a reason he was so much better against lefties last season.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) It's ridiculous. We've reverted back to last year's team so gradually, that most of us didn't even notice. I dunno, but did it start when a certain player came back to the team? Don't get me wrong, Frank is easily the best Sox player ever. However, he's SOOO one-dimensional now, and that one dimenson was something that we didn't really need on this team (if anything, something we needed less of).

Sox vs. Tigers 6/29/05 6:05 CST Gamethread
The thing is, Frank should have never been playing tonight if Ozzie is planning on playing him only 2 out of every 3 games in a series. With the soft-tossing lefty tomorrow, Frank was a much better match-up than against Johnson.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) A pitch right down broadway, and he's selfish? Hmm... Should I trust the guy who has gotten on-base at a .400+ clip for most of his career, or a message board lurker? GMAFB. I can live with your first statement, but quit the bulls***. Selfish my ass. Right now, he's not the same hitter he used to be in terms of his approach. Yes, I consider Frank extremely selfish now. He's had 3 opportunities with a RISP this game, and he's been swinging out of his ass for the fences every time.

Sox vs. Tigers 6/29/05 6:05 CST Gamethread
We're still playing for that 3 run homer it seems like. We have no balance in our lineup right now with all our speed at the top, and it creates a situation where it's either homer or nothing for far too many hitters.

Sox vs. Tigers 6/29/05 6:05 CST Gamethread
Frank's success right out of the gates made him think that he could just rely on hitting homers, and he's be able to do it at a great rate. However, his swing is so f***ed up right now. His entire backside is collapsing, and his swing is as bad as I've ever seen it. I would have rather had OMIT up that AB than Frank.
