  1. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) I think Swisher is out of position and its taking away from his batting. Put him at 1st base and good things may happen. JESUS CHRIST....you are f***ing ridiculous....
  2. Heading out to San Fran at the end of September and hitting up a Giants/Dodgers game, just wondering if anyone has been there and has any advice about the park.
  3. well lets keep winning and hope were 5-6 up by the time that game comes around.... he has been lights out in the minors
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 02:22 AM) love hearing those classy detroit fans booing their team off the field at least they didn't throw a full coke at JD....i dont think he would have jumped in the stands though...
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 07:03 PM) http://palehose8.blogspot.com/ CQ's facial expression is spot on...
  6. wow, the starting pitching pool after this season is pretty deep...and I didn't realize F-Rod was a free agent either....damn he is going to make a pretty penny.
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 07:44 PM) Only one (actually two) things to do in this situation: Sit back. Strap it down. Let's drown some kittens. Just don't strap it on...
  8. I'd give up Floyd in a second for Halladay. The money would just not work, yea its a pretty cheap contract for a pitcher as good as he is, but we would have to get rid of Count's money somehow and I don't see any team taking him for more than a High A baller. I would still cream myself if it happened.. MB RH JD JV JC/Spot Starter I gotta say that looks pretty damn good. Maybe we could bring back Danny Wright for that 5th spot? QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) Dream on, unless they would like to Doc for PK So do you use every thread to make a comment about PK...I am starting to hope he hits a foul ball off your face...
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 12:21 AM) I think the White Sox should offer an open invitation to Bartman to throw out the first pitch at a game and give him free season tickets.(Several rows from the field) He could be a hero on the southside. Someone to look up to. A role model. You know he could take the money and use it for a nose job and cheek lift so he is never recognized again... What I find hilarious is that they actually made a Law and Order episode based on what happened during that game. All true except in the episode the guy gets killed for doing it....
  10. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) I think we'll win the first two and have a good shot at the third one. A Sweep would be f'ing beautiful. Your decision wouldn't have anything to do with Javy pitching the last game does it?
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) DaBearSox, this isnt directed just at you, yours is just the last the last I read, but this attitude some of you have about Hamilton and the "he did drugs omg hate hate hate" blah blah blah whatever is annoying. I'd be willing to bet a vast majority of people on this board who are over 18 have at least tried some drug at some point in their life one time. Do you really think Hamilton went out to get himself addicted? Do you believe thats what he was trying to do? Do you think he said to himself the first time he tried something "Yes, i cant wait to begin the downward spiral and ruin my life"? No, he didnt. Of course I am not advocating what he did, but it is very commendable the way he has been able to pick his life up and get his act together. Many people are not able to do that. It is admirable the way he has come back and gotten over his addiction. What he is doing now hopefully prevents some kids from making similar mistakes in the future. No offense taken....I have known 2 kids and was friends with one who ODed back in high school. I have always been bitter towards that drug and I guess what I was trying to say was more of how StrangeSox put it below. I mean I just graduated college and I can't say that I was the cleanest person around, it just makes me question peoples judgement when they try something that utterly stupid and dangerous just for the hell of it. and along the lines of the actual topic if TCQ has another strong 60 games....I give him a 1:5 chance of getting it. I think AROD is actually his biggest competition right now. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) America loves the redemption story. And it is great that Hamilton has cleaned up. But he gets more praised for falling hard and picking himself up and playing at an MVP level than someone who didn't f*** it all up in the first place.
  12. i'm def in for Lowe over Count.... I just don't see Baltimore giving up Brian Roberts for anything less than the whole farm....they seem to have an infatuation with the guy (just like soxtalk) and I guess he has been the face of the franchise since his dominant season in I think it was '05... I hope I am really suprised by the deadline but I don't see Kenny doing much
  13. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) The Sox have to really pitch effectively
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:19 AM) If the season ended today and Hamilton won MVP over CQ the ONLY reason he would have won is because he loved drugs. There's a good lesson. It really is funny if you think about it.... I mean I really respect the guy, he tried to keep some of his story away from the press, but then brought it all out for his campaign for Jesus. Now ESPN is trying to turn it into a feel good story about how he is a great role model... Sorry ESPN, If I had kids, I wouldn't want them doing the drugs in the first place...
  15. QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 11:14 PM) I am sick of the shaving cream pie's, it is getting old and is not original, think of something new at least. Toby's jock in the face?
  16. QUOTE (Hanky Panky @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 09:50 PM) You guys think Richard will get another chance? I really thought he looked pretty solid. No offense to Toby, but if he does I would like to see AJ catch him....
  17. was going to put this in the Cubs thread but thought it deserved its own topic.... 25,000 grand for one autograph...that is amazing http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_leagu...e?urn=mlb,95542
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) Hamilton is clearly getting the MVP, even though his team won't make the playoffs. it's a good story for the kids....lets them know that you can rebound after getting addicted to drugs in college....
  19. f***!!! If we win now how are we supposed to blame Konerko for the loss....god damnit
  20. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=4887 Nice job JA.....
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 05:25 PM) About 10 or 12 years ago, the White Sox had plenty of OF in the minors and some guy was struggling to hit much in the lower levels. He was subjected to the rule 5 draft. Nobody took him. A couple of years later, he was one of the top hitters in the league. Magglio. If BA doesn't get regular at bats we will never know....and I doubt he will turn into a Magglio type hitter, I hope he proves us wrong though
  22. Ok I get the point that we have no idea what they would bring in return (which I don't really believe with BA), but I think the insurance thing is a bunch of BS. Getz: Uribe, Richar will be on the field before him BA: They have enough faith in him to play Dewayne Wise before they will let him get some regular at bats.... Haeger: we have plenty of spot start capable pitchers in the minors. The Charlie project has been tried and upper management didn't seem to like it too much. Its like taking out an insurance policy on an insurance policy...it just doesn't make much sense
  23. I don't think the Rockies are going to be sellers this year b/c of what happened last year and the division they play in but, if we do end up using Fields on a starter or whatever I wonder what it would take to get Garrett Atkins. I get the chance to see him a lot out here and he is a very solid player with a name no one really recognizes. They have some young talent that could take over for him (Barmes)
