Did a quick look. 9 Catchers remain from the top 250. 8 are high school so doubt we have the money for them. #236 Nate Baez from arizona state? anyone? Buehler, Buehler?

A short stop who can pick it will help all the young pitchers he plays with.

2022 draft Day 2, rounds 3-10
Also you can go over your pool by 5% with just a 75% tax penalty. Higher than that and you lose future picks so it acts as a hard cap. James Fox indicates Schultz will sign for under 3 million which is probably slot plus 5%. Our second rounder, coming off TJ surgery, guessing slotish?? If so we can probably draft and offer closer to slot for awhile assuming we are targeting someone post round ten? or just take them in rounds 3-10. To further complicate the math in rounds after the tenth, any amount over 125k to a individual player counts against your pool. A pick in the top 10 rounds who doesn't sign will have their slot value deducted from the team's pool.

White Sox select Noah Schultz #26
Maybe you are both right? I could see it going to all eligible players automatically. I could also seeing it being "negotiated" because a college senior who has already graduated might not be eligible since he has already completed the benefit?

2022 MLB Draft Thread
I prefer we go best talent signable at 26. After that when you are looking at groups of similar talent, I hope we go very heavy pitching. When their are talent clusters, I hope we grab lefties in both pitching and hitting as their seems to be a dearth of both in our system. Adding Montgomery, Colas and Kath was a start to getting some lefties.

Cueto
It is way to early and very speculative to be talking playoff rotations. That said, if the playoffs started right after the all star break, Cueto is probably the second most deserving on the staff of starting a playoff game. We are still a few weeks to the trade deadline. I still think we could end up selling and people will be looking for starting pitching. He has been good and prorated will be cheap.

2022 MLB Draft Thread
I was going to ask the board if Rocker is available would you take? Would you take if it required him in the majors this year? For the record if I could get him at slot, I would take. Maybe a little over slot. I would not be willing to guarantee MLB but would agree to put him in AA and if performing move to AAA with an outside chance of MLB but it would require him performing.

7/11 Games
https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=07/11/2022 Well by my count, yesterday was the first all winning minor league day of the year! 81 games in. I understand that the primary goal is player development , but can't help but think that fosters individual stats sometimes over doing the little things that win games. The very same little things many of our big leaguers have failed to do repeatedly which cost us games. Anyway, I am happy for the minors sweep! Mena did great and think Kelley had best start of his career. Hopefully, Ellis and heck Neslony get bumped up soon. They are older and should be given their chance as potential late developers.

7/10 Games
Mena and Kelley pitching today. Three scoreless with 4k and 2 scoreless respectively so far!
