Still holding out some hope for Lopez. If he could ever gain some command. He always was able to provide innings. Still only 27. 50k in 39 innings so there is still something to work with. Hopefully over the demotion shock and gets going. Kind of arm that someone will always think they can fix/try.

It is a Frazier or Rodriguez proposition. Position player > value than reliever but 1.5 yrs control vs 2.5 made them about equal in my eyes. Frazier obviously fits this year at second and next takes a often playing role. Feeling our set up relief not as strong (esp if Kopech starts), I could see pivot to a reliever who would setup for us. Just spit balling. Gotta give to get.

Maybe improvement by elimination. If he refused a rehab assignment and there were any clubhouse issues, it really makes more sense.

Watch that once he clears waivers, a bad team picks him up. If he plays sparingly, looks decent/healthy , he gets flipped at deadline since we will be paying him.
