  1. QUOTE (feistyboy @ May 27, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) Why worry about that. If he is exposed to other teams and someone takes him off the White Sox hands for free, then good riddance. It doesn't work that way.
  2. Jay Bruce in his Major League Debut: 3-3; 2 BB, 2B, SB, 2 R, 2 RBI He walked in his first major league plate appearance. His first major league hit came in the form of a single on his second time to the plate.
  3. QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ May 27, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) How long can someone be on a Rehab Assignment? 20 days and not a day more.
  4. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 27, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) Tek at catcher? Pedroia over Kinsler? Thome 3rd in DH? really? that's just dumb. Vlad in the top 3? Damon on that list at all? yeah. it's just a huge joke ESPECIALLY since it now "means something" which is also the dumbest idea ever. though i'm gonna call right now that the NL is finally getting their home field advantage this year. Ahead of ALL those other great designated hitters.
  5. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...8&fext=.jsp If voting ended today: C: J. Varitek, Red Sox 1B: K. Youkilis, Red Sox 2B: D. Pedroia, Red Sox 3B: A. Rodriguez, Yankees SS: D. Jeter, Yankees LF: M. Ramirez, Red Sox CF: I. Suzuki, Mariners RF: V. Guerrero, Angels DH: D. Ortiz, Red Sox The way it should look: C: J. Mauer, Twins 1B: K. Youkilis, Red Sox 2B: I. Kinsler, Rangers 3B: M. Cabrera, Tigers (placeholder for ARod who needs to log a few more ABs) SS: M. Young, Rangers (horrible year for AL SS, not a one with an OPS north of .750) LF: C. Quentin, White Sox CF: J. Hamilton, Rangers RF: M. Bradley, Rangers (honorable mention: M. Ordonez, Tigers) DH: H. Matsui, Yankees Just looking over some numbers, this is a horrible year for AL position players, aside from a couple outfielders and maybe 3 infielders it's nothing but garbage.

  7. QUOTE (BobDylan @ May 27, 2008 -> 09:14 AM) Is Jerry Owens healthy? I wouldn't mind moving Swisher to 1B and putting Owens in CF for 15 days just to see what happens. Kind of funny; in 157 AAA ABs this season Jerry Owens has 5 2B, 0 3B and 1 HR. In 60 MLB ABs this season Brian Anderson has 5 2B, 0 3B and 1 HR.
  8. Jerry Owens Update: G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 40 157 17 34 5 0 1 9 17 31 11 4 .217 .294 .268 .561 Kicking ass and taking names.
  9. CQ Update: G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 48 166 35 50 7 1 14 43 25 29 4 2 .301 .415 .608 1.023 The goal doesn't even have to be getting him voted in as a starter, if we could somehow get Carlos into the top 10 in voting for AL outfielders it'd be a huge success (and a point of pride for CQ) considering he's not even on the f***ing ballot.
  10. It's strange, whenever Carlos does something amazing I feel a strong sense of pride come over me. I'm not just happy that my favorite baseball play is doing well or that he's helping my favorite team win, I'm legitimately proud of the man.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ May 25, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) Let's bump the "White Sox sign Scott Linebrink" thread and see who didn't like the deal. It's a little early to be calling people out for that one. He's only 1/12 of the way into his 4 year deal. One thing's for sure though; his stuff is much much much better this season than it was last year with Milwaukee and San Diego.
  12. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 23, 2008 -> 04:45 PM) Not doubting you or anything, but whats your source? Jesse Rogers just mentioned it on the Score.

  15. According to Jesse Rogers; Konerko is on the bench tonight, Brian will be in CF. So I assume we'll see something like this: Cabrera, SS Pierzynski, C Quentin, LF Dye, RF Thome, DH Crede, 3B Ramirez, 2B Swisher, 1B Anderson, CF
  16. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 23, 2008 -> 03:32 PM) You can get a defensive OF. But if we can get a 2b capable of leading off, it eliminates a two huge holes. Not at all anti-Brian, but at least philosophically one has to agree w/ that. I'm sure a number of General Managers are busting down KW's door looking to deal their leadoff hitting secondbaseman for the Sox's 4th OF. Brian Anderson has no trade value right now, for as well as he's played this season it's not exactly showing up on the statsheet.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ May 23, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) Methinks this is setting up the dealing of Anderson in a trade for a 2B. Perhaps. I doubt it. They were probably just sick of carrying 24 players, calling up Wise gives Ozzie a lefty bat off the bench who can also run a little. This should have no real effect on Anderson. You're reading too much into this.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ May 23, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) Think that Wise's agent requested a "showcase", like when the Sox gave Jeremy Giambi a shot? No, not at all. And Jeremy Giambi never played for the big club, he was simply signed to a minor league as a favor to his agent, Arn Tellem (AKA; Frank Thomas' agent.) Wise is being promoted because he's sporting a 1.000+ OPS at AAA and has been hitting righties very well. KW isn't retarded, he's not going to call up some career minor league because the player's agent requests it (which is didn't, if he even has an agent.)
  19. 30 years old plays all 3 OF positions well bats left handed, hits righties very well (or at least has thus far this season) The 40 man roster now stands at 39.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) I got a feeling that a Carlos Quentin jersey is going to be a hot commodity very soon. My black alternate Rowand jersey will be turning into a Quentin jersey sometime in the not too distant future.
  21. It definitely isn't increased patience at the plate as he's seeing a similar number of P/PA this year as he has in the past (as Felix pointed out.) I'd chalk it up to better plate discipline with the count full. So far this season he's walked 11 times on 3-2 counts in '06 he only drew a walk 9 times with a full count and 10 times in '05.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 21, 2008 -> 11:00 PM) This pitching is just unreal. Second night in a row Thome hit an oppo home run too, maybe he's coming around a bit. Man this team could be really good if we get some consistent offense, and the offense is improving recently. Not to mention they both came off left handed pitchers.
  23. And Ramirez saves Crede from his 10th error of the season.
  24. 2 games, 2 opposite field homeruns off of lefties for Big Jim. This could be the start of a hot streak.
