QUOTE (Brian @ May 15, 2008 -> 11:05 PM) Anderson in CF!!!! Now THIS is the first time all year Ozzie has used him as a late game defensive replacement in a non-blowout. -
The trailer that played during the Superbowl was pretty good but after watching the extended trailer that came out a few weeks ago I think it's pretty obvious that Zohan will be awful.

What do you think of tonight's batting order?

His first time in the 2 hole and AJ reaches base 3 times. Gotta love it. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:56 PM) I'd like to DL Thome and bring up Fields to DH, see if he just needs some major league time to refocus, plus it adds some athleticism to the lineup. Except Fields is currently injured (on the DL) and Thome isn't going to accept being placed on the disabled list if he isn't injured. -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) thank you jose for proving, at least so far this year, that you're gonna give this team much better chances to win than Mark i fear the next time mark has to faces Cleveland, that could be ugly Actually, I believe Mark will close out the series in San Fran on Sunday. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:44 PM) Not sure we even need to do anything. Carlos is going to get to the All Star game by himself. It's a real shame he's not on the ballot though, as of right now he deserves to start.

The White Sox's starting left fielder: 2-4, HR, 5 RBI (first career granny) .293/.401/.586/.988, 10 HR, 34 RBI on the season The man is INTENSE! Oh and Jose freaking Contreras went 7 innnings allowed 1 run on 4 hits. Great game.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) Yahoo says they have 21 wins. I don't know if they added today's victory or not, so I assumed 22. Cleveland had 20 wins coming into today. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) What's this, Anderson in for defense? I like it! First time all year. Though it is a 5 run ballgame with 3 outs to go, some would categorize this as a blowout.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) Cleveland won, Minnesota lost, and if we win, we'll still be 2 GB of Cleveland. I think it's 1.5 GB once the game ends. -

Brian enters as a defensive replacement in a game that isn't a complete blowout. -

CQ should hold down the 3 hole for the next 10 years or so. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2008 -> 10:14 PM) No way...not when you're winning late in the game. Wait to do it tomorrow if you want. I wasn't necessarily talking about tonight, just in general is he willing to hit opponents this year after the 2006 fiasco. -

So does Ozzie have one of his pitchers peg an Angel as retribution or is he done with that non sense? -

QUOTE (qwerty @ May 14, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) I thought you were in the camp that the leadoff spot was overrated, when did this change? Um, no. I think speed in the leadoff spot is overrated but when the guy hitting leadoff could get upwards of 720 PA in a season I'd like for the role to be filled by someone who doesn't suck. It'd be nice if the guys hitting in front of your run producers could get on base at a high rate as well.

That was pretty awesome. Gotta love your 3 hole hitter yelling out FUUUCK! after he pops out on a pitch he should have driven. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) At age 25, Ordonez put up an .860 OPS and hit 30 home runs and drove in 117. At age 25, Lee put up an .800 OPS and hit 24 home runs. I'd say Quentin right now is pretty close in performance to where Mags was, and Mags had more playing time before that because he was healthier. CQ may also simply be better in the power department, while Ordonez might have been a slightly better hitter (i.e. Mags batting title last year). MO first 526 career ABs: .287/.327/.443 /.770, 16 HR, 72 RBI, 30 2B, 2 3B CL first 527 career ABs: .300/.324/.480/.804, 19 HR, 95 RBI, 34 2B, 2 3B CQ first 524 career ABs: .244/.337/.460/.797, 23 HR, 92 RBI, 36 2B, 4 3B Very similar numbers.

6-3 GO-FO for Egbert.

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 14, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) You are only guaranteed one at bat with no one on and no on out. So to a degree, I agree. But at the same time, that guy is guaranteed to get the most plate appearances on your team (you'd probably want one of your best hitters to bat the most times over the course of the season) and most importantly he's the guy who hits in front of your supposed best hitters. It's not about leading off the inning, it's about leading off the batting order. So, no the leadoff spot is not "overrated" (whatever that means.)

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 14, 2008 -> 04:03 PM) I would have no problem with a younger Randy Winn on the White Sox. I know that will make some people throw up, but I think the Sox could use a couple guys in the lineup that who can start innings off if they happen to lead-off an inning. Funny thing is, I've also always been a Randy Winn fan (back from his days in Seattle). I'd easily take him as a 2 hitter on this club. But we're not talking about young, All-Star, traded for Lou Piniella Randy Winn, we're talking about 34 year old, .300 BA, 15 HR, adequate defensively, decent speed Randy Winn/Mark DeRosa.

Mark DeRosa is also a 15/.300 guy

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 14, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Or try and get Kotchman and Santana from the Halos. Wait, they suck though, right? I know why you did that but I have a brief tangent; why is that trade package always brought up in conjunction with Paul Konerko? Does anyone truly believe the Angels would have been stupid enough to make that trade or that KW would be stupid enough to reject it?
