  1. The same Nick Swisher that sports a 1.244 OPS in 15 career ABs vs Ted Lilly?
  2. Cabrera 5-16, 2B, BB, K .313/.450/.375/.825 Pierzynski 1-3 .333/.333/.333/.666 Quentin 0-0 Dye 2-10, HR, RBI, 2 BB, 4 K .200/.333/.500/.833 Swisher 5-15, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 3 BB, K .333/.444/.800/1.244 Crede 4-15, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, 5 K .267/.313/.333/.646 Anderson 0-2, BB, K .000/.333/.000/.333 Ramirez 0-0 Thome 2-7, 2B, 1 BB, 3 K .286/.375/.429/.804 Hall 9-22, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 3 BB, K .409/.480/.591/1.071 Ozuna 0-4 Wise 0-0 Uribe 3-12, 2 HR, 5 RBI, K .250/.231/.750/.981 Total: .284/.368/.495/.863 Yeah, they seem to hold their own against Lilly. Now does Ozzie play the percentages and start Toby?
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) Kalapse, this is why I love you I like Holliday, but am in complete agreement. Some of his s***ty road splits have to do with playing 30 games a year in San Fran, LA, and San Diego, but he's definitely a product of Coors. I'll give you SF and SD, those are two ballparks that greatly favor pitchers. LA played as a pitcher friendly ballpark in '04 and '05 but was neutral in '06 and has played as a hitter friendly park the last 2 seasons so I'm going to include it. Career numbers: In AL ballparks: .267/.330/.429/.759 In NL East BPs: .302/.365/.483/.847 In NL Cent BPs: .291/.358/.493/.850 In All BPs minus COL, SD & SF: .284/.349/.455/.803
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 09:37 PM) The Rockies may very well be unloading here pretty soon, especially on Holliday. But they're going to want a king's ransom for him. So if you're not giving up Floyd, Danks, or Quentin, there's nothing to talk about. No one wants Kaz Matsui's deal. Jose Lopez doesn't make us better. The major problem with dealing for Holliday is the Rockies will be seeking a package of players equal in value to a 28 year old 1.000+ OPS LF when in reality Holliday is probably an .850 OPS LF in disguise. 2004 splits: Home: .338/.406/.603/1.009 Away: .240/.287/.367/.654 2005 splits: Home: .357/.409/.593/1.002 Away: .256/.313/.416/.729 2006 splits: Home: .373/.440/.692/1.132 Away: .280/.333/.485/.819 2007 splits: Home: .376/.435/.722/1.157 Away: .301/.374/.485/.860 2008 splits: Home: .359./432/.650/1.081 Away: .284/.376/.402/.778 Career splits: Home: .363/.426/.660/1.086 Away: .274/.337/.444/.780 I know they love to talk about that humidor but I'm calling shenanigans on Matt Holliday. There's definitely some Dante Bichette mojo at work here. Matt Holliday might be a pretty decent hitter but I'd say he's closer to a Raul Ibanez than a Manny Ramirez. And he's a Boras client to boot.
  5. I'd say people were more frustrated with Toby's shoulder and Ozzie's judgment in ST than they were angry with Toby himself. Pretty much everyone loved the signing when it happened and he is definitely a better player than his production let on last season, he just couldn't function with that torn labrum. It's nice to see him have a bounce back season after being the worst player in baseball last year.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) we dont have much to offer. Basically is you want Roberts, you lead with Swish, since we can replace him with Alexei in CF and Roberts moves to 2B. Alexei would im sure be of interest to them as a replacement, but I dont see us dishing him. I wouldn't deal Swisher for Roberts straight up.

Not a chance in hell. Not only would Zito not agree to give up guaranteed money but the MLBPA would NEVER allow it.
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) Tied or down after the 6th inning 0 Tied or down after the 3rd inning 2 That is where the debate is coming from. The stat 2 out RISP somethign like 2-24 was startling as well. I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that taking the early lead and adding insurance runs later in close games had no inherent value. My bad. He's not good in close and late situations or with RISP & 2 out but the vast majority of his 14 homeruns this season have been of great value to the team. He carries the stigma of only homering when the Sox are up or down big and that's just not true at all. That's all I'm saying.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) Oh goshdarn Cabrera and Crede, hitting homers and padding their stats when the Sox are up big! Of course it means nothing, but Thome was on 3rd base in the 1st inning with 1 out and Crede grounded into a DP...he also doubled to help get an inning started - he was driven in by Swisher, who was then driven in by Crede's homer. You know, because Thome actually helping the team is ignored. I love it when people make it out to be like Thome never does anything to help the team and the only time he ever produces is in blowouts. It's just not true. #1: tied - 1st #2: down 5 - 3rd #3: tied - 1st #4: tied - 3rd #5: tied - 1st #6: up 2 - 5th #7: up 2 - 7th #8: up 1 - 2nd #9: up 4 - 7th #10: down 2 - 6th #11: down 2 - 4th #12: up 4 - 7th #13: tied - 2nd #14: up 7 - 7th Tie game: 5 Within 3 runs: 5 4+ run margin: 4
  10. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) I would like to see the Sox use a lot of motion this series. OC, Q, Ramirez and Wise can all steal bases and we should put the pressure of Doumit. Doumit has a pretty solid arm, but only throws out 30% of runners, so put the pressure on. 30% is actually very good.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) Didn't know he's out for the series, that would be nice. I saw where Bay isn't playing tonight. McLouth CF Wilson SS Sanchez DH Doumit C LaRoche 1B Michaels LF Mientkiewicz RF Bautista 3B Rivas 2B That bottom 5 has to be amongst the worst I've ever seen.
  12. Rehab assignments can last no longer than 20 days. These starts would have to count towards rehab, a major league player can not participate in minor league ballgames while on the DL unless it's part of a rehab assignment. So the Sox will have to do something with Loaiza 19 days from now.
  13. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 05:09 PM) So who backs up Swish at 1B in a pinch? Thome? Hall? I'd hope it's JD.
  14. So according to Jesse Rogers KW said today that the recall of DeWayne Wise instead of Jerry Owens was Buddy Bell's call. KW went to Bell and Buddy told him Wise can do more for the team right now than Jerry Owens.
  15. That last line is pretty funny, I'd say the majority of Sox fans I know hate these commercials seeing as how they're not funny or cute or particularly clever, just annoying.
  16. Swisher proving why you don't give up on a struggling young hitter with a history of major league success.
  17. 14 out of 17 ain't bad.
  18. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 04:03 PM) Uh, the way the ball appears like a beam of light off his bat, with Jones and the umpire perfectly clear and everything else fuzzy is perfect. Except that's not the ball in the center of the picture, it's the head of the bat, you can even see a blue ring near the bottom of the barrel.
  19. The Royals took Cal Poly LHP Derrik Saito in the 16th round. His fastball has been clocked in the 92-94 range with good movement, his cutter was clocked at 88-90 his change grades out as a plus pitch as does his curveball. However, he's only 5'9", 155 lbs.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) Are they breaking for lunch or something? Seems like they stopped after Round 15. It's starting up again.
  21. Juan Pierre is an idiot.
  22. Great slide by Loney gets him into scoring position as the tying run in the 9th.

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 10:25 PM) I dont know the answer to this question but I was thinking..... Has any MLB team played a doubleheader against two different teams in same day? Back in 2000 the Indians played the Sox during the day and the Twins that same night, both games were played at Jacobs field.
  24. And Wichita State (Kenny Williams Jr.) will be playing Florida State tomorrow at 1 pm CT, to be aired on ESPN2.
