    QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) Just out of curiosity, who do people consider to be some of the better hitting coaches in the league? Milt Thompson
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) I can't get into all those freckles You don't find measles sexy?
  3. QUOTE(greg775 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) I hope both are long gone. Wasserman is not good and does anybody really want to see MacDougal's wildness kill us in crucial situations? I'd prefer MacD over Wasserman if one makes it over the other. I hope our new guys are the answer over last year's disasters. Have you even seen Wassermann pitch? He's your type of pitcher, he throws the ball over the plate and gets [right handed] hitters out. He has a pretty simple approach.
  4. Since we really haven't heard much on Ozuna's recovery from the broken fibula I thought I'd post this: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...oxnt18.article#
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) EDIT: It's on nfl.com now and I spelled Muhammad wrong. So did NFL.com, don't beat yourself up too bad.
  6. Alex Brown also signed a 2 year extension so I guess he'll be staying around after all. http://www.nfl.com/news/story;jsessionid=D...mp;confirm=true

    QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) Ron Gardenhire, playing career 777 career PA's...thats why hes good bastard
  8. Carlos Quentin is supposed to be in camp right now as well, no pics as of yet.

    Is it October of 2007 again?
  10. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 10, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) Request for an update. Done. Not much left out there.
  11. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) I think I'd take shot on Rodrigo Lopez or Josh Fogg. He's not half bad. Other than that, everyone else would need incentive laden contracts. Boras

    Leo Mazzone was a career minor leaguer, didn't throw a single big league pitch yet he's considered one of the best pitching coaches the game has ever seen. Rudy Jaramillo, who has been the Rangers' hitting coach for the past 13 seasons and is considered by many to be the finest in the game didn't even play professional baseball in America. Would you consider Ron Gardenhire to be a pretty good manager? Well I hope not, he was nothing more than a fringe player in the bigs. How can he possibly relate to the modern professional star athlete? He never lived that life. Should Ozzie be prohibited from giving his hitters advice? (well, maybe) Should someone with a career .287 OBP really be preaching about the benefits of having high OBP hitters?
  13. Masset looking trim:
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) I just read the caption on the trib site: White Sox third baseman Josh Fields practices with an undersized glove after showing up early for spring training on Sunday.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) I got it off Yahoo, but I am almost positive it was AP. Alright, then there's a good chance it will show up on Sportsline. Thus far they've only uploaded these eight pictures from today's game.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) Someone blow this pic up... Which service provided the picture? AP, Getty, Presswire, other? Most Getty and AP photos are uploaded to Sportsline and can then be downloaded at full size.
  17. Kim is looking for a major league deal, he already has at least 1 minor league deal on the table. The problem is he's not worth a major league deal and as of now the Sox have about 8 or 9 relievers who should be better than Kim next season including Ehren Wasserman who is actually pretty similar to Kim.
  18. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) I think the Sox should be looking to the future with Fields as a DH/3B/1B/LF type player and Crede at 3B. Thome is what 37 yrs old now? He might only have a couple left before retirement. We have traded too much talent away from this team and need to think of the future. Reports on our farm system indsicate we have no one ready to step up to the bigs for at least 2-3 or so years. And in this plan for the future where the Sox keep Crede, what becomes of Josh Fields for the next 2 seasons while Thome is still on the roster? AAA? Some sort of crazy rotation between he, Swisher, Quentin, Owens, Konerko and Thome? Yeah it seems like a good idea to dick around with your most promising young position player during the most important developmental years of his career. And it's just good to know that western medicine has become so advanced that a chronic condition can be permanently cured with 1 simple surgery. How many back surgeries has Mike Sweeney had? Seems like it's worked out pretty well for him.
  19. QUOTE(ChiSox35 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 01:05 AM) I can see Livan sucking it up against most teams, just not against the Sox. I just get this terrible gut feeling that I hope is unwarranted, but we've been KC's b**** for how long now...? '01: 14-5 vs KC '02: 11-8 vs KC '03: 11-8 vs KC '04: 13-6 vs KC '05: 13-5 vs KC '06: 11-8 vs KC '07: 12-6 vs KC 85-46 over the past 7 seasons that's a .649 win% If managing a .351 win% against a team over 7 year period is "making them your b****" then the Sox have been the league's designated b**** of the 21 century since I doubt they have a better win% against any other opponent over that timespan.
  20. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 04:28 PM) Iirc, it also violates the collective bargaining agreement to go around the agent. That's why Boras was nominally involved in the ARod contract negotiations. I believe KW has no choice but to go to Boras. Correct From the CBA:
  21. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) Why wouldn't Kenny talk to Joe? Alex R talked to the Yankmees without Boras. I am still holding out hope that this attitude changes. ALEX initiated talks with the Yankees not the other way around, big difference. The GM goes to the Agent when discussing contract extensions, going around the agent to the player is considered bad business. Now if Joe were to ignore the advice of his agent and go directly to Kenny/Haun that would be acceptable.
  22. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) I thought it depended on the source. Presswire pics cannot be enlarged, but AP and other sources can. Is that correct? Yeah, you're right I didn't even look at the captions. Good call. Any photo by the AP or Getty can be enlarged.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) I can't wait to get the 1st pictures... I noticed the Tigers pictures that have been uploaded can't be enlarged with the normal method. The first Spring pictures are normally full size.
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) If they are on an opponent's team that means they quit juicing, if they are on your team, they worked out, quit the junk food, and got in shape There's a difference between tubby to toned and ripped to natural. If Masset had dropped 20-40 pounds of muscle (Javy Lopez, Ivan Rodriguez, etc.) it'd be a different story.
