  1. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ May 31, 2007 -> 09:52 PM) Career Splits: Home: .303/.379/.579/.958 | 1272 AB | 232 R | 83 HR | 284 RBI Away: .263/.355/.486/.841 | 1272 AB | 178 R | 66 HR | 199 RBI
  2. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) As much you don't want someone to get injured, it is kinda good now that Erstad will hopefully not get his 600 AB's this year, resulting in a 6 million dollar payday for him, most likely. 600 PLATE APPEARANCES there's a huge difference.
  3. I'm shocked it took him this long. Kenny Williams has had a terrible couple months and one of the worst offseasons a Sox GM has ever had.
  4. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ May 31, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) The Sox need some impact players. I would rather see them overpay in talent to get a few special players. What guy on this list is even better than Joe Crede other than TEX ? One of the guys on that list is currently putting up a .285/.395/.527/.922 line, 11 HR, 31 RBI, 24 R, 7 2B, 32BB:23SO and can be had.
  5. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ May 31, 2007 -> 10:30 AM) shortstop - Uribe - why keep him for $ 6 mil. when it shouldn't be that hard to replace him with a young SS with upside that's cheap. Maybe one that can get on base at a good rate. Trade him now or pickup his option and then trade him - whichever is easier. Outfield- keep Sweeney and Erstad. Yes, I said Erstad. Believe me, I thought getting him was ridiculous but he's really been fine. The Sox would be well served to keep these 2 and add 2 more young outfielders with high upside such as Milledge and Baldelli. A good mix of 3 young guys and Erstad would be ideal - 2 lefties and 2 righties that can play all 3 outfield positions. Might as well trade Anderson, too. So let me get this straight, you wouldn't be willing to keep Uribe around for $5M but you would be willing to keep Erstad around for $6M? Ok.
  6. Harden can be had and the asking price wouldn't be nearly as high as you think it would be, the guy has made a grand total of 31 starts over the past 2.3 seasons including 3 starts this year. Beane is fed up with it and will move him if he can get a decent return on Harden. With that said, I wouldn't give up anything of true value for him despite his talent. Noah Lowry has been on the block for the past season and a half, he has some major flaws and is no longer a required member of the Giants staff. He can be had, not that I'd want him.
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 31, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) The guy went the extra mile to try to help his team get a much needed win. THAT BASTARD!!!!!!!!!!!! Just remember, Alex Rodriguez is a selfish bastard who always puts himself ahead of the team there's a reason why he's never won anything. He does s*** like this for personal gain.
  8. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ May 30, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) Miguel Olivo and Jeremy Reed for Freddy Garcia. I have to admit KW was on a roll between 2003-2005 in getting bargains for top of the line pitchers. Don't forget Mike Morse and Ben Davis. Morse was supposed to be the wild card in the deal but steroids quickly put an end to that.
  9. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 30, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) I think Jaime Navarro for Jose Valentin and Cal eldred was pretty good. If anything it got Jaime Navarro away from the Sox. The Brewers also received John Snyder in that deal. Borchard for Thornton was great on a few levels, it brought in an excellent lefty reliever and it rid Chicago of LTP.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 30, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) The great example brought this conversation on. I am just guessing. I could be wrong. Oh yeah. Lets see how long McCarthy is out with a boo boo on his finger. It looks like the blister will cost him 1 start, the sore shoulder on the other hand has cost El Duque 6 and possibly more seeing as how he's now showing some concern after his first start back.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 30, 2007 -> 05:53 PM) This year. El Duque has already missed a month due to injury.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 30, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) He has what, 3 good games? Yeah - massively underrated. 2 very good (LAA, DET), 4 outstanding (TEX, BOS, MIN, CLE)
  13. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 30, 2007 -> 05:10 PM) In related news... A-Rod is back to his suck-y ways! What ever happened to all that MVP talk I heard about? Even with his miserable May numbers he's still sporting a line of .293/.386/.649/1.035 w/ 19 HR, 44 RBI and a 176 OPS+. Outside of perhaps Maggs and maybe Vlad who in the AL is having a better season than Rodriguez?
  14. If the Sox had any sort of history of second half success from the past few seasons then maybe just maybe being 3 games out of the WC to start June would be a positive. But considering how horrible this team has performed from July - Sept thus far this Century anything short of a 5 game divisional lead at the break isn't going to provide much comfort.
  15. Aside from Kobe asking for a trade this is the top story on SportsCenter. How pathetic is that s***? When did professional sports start moving in the National Enquirer/People Magazine direction? AROD GOES TO DINNER WITH A MYSTERIOUS BLONDE WOMAN! The sporting world comes to a screeching halt.
  16. QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 30, 2007 -> 10:33 AM) Its just amazing how the NY Times will go out of their way to sink this guy. Like the Yankees really need more controversy. These 2 lines are just ridiculous: Come on now, how come I have this suspicion that the NY Post would be more than willing to give this story more play than the Giambi/steroid situation?
  17. 1.) This is a non-story. 2.) How is this any of our business?
  18. It's nearly impossible to choose one over the other since their numbers are just so similar over the past 2 seasons. This year: JR: .311/.395/.474/.869, 14 2B, 7 3B, 2 HR, 29:29 K:BB, 28:5 SB:CS, 136 OPS+ HR: .317/.392/.510/.902, 12 2B, 3 3B, 7 HR, 21:38 K:BB, 15:4 SB:CS, 144 OPS+ Over the past 2 seasons: LINE G 2B 3B HR BB SO SB CS .303/.364/.484/.848 202 44 24 21 82 110 92 22 .298/.362/.487/.850 207 58 14 24 77 166 66 19
  19. The Golden Sombrero for Mr. Pastures. Fantastico.
  20. QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 29, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) when he does it when it matters, then he'll be on my 5 You mean like every postseason pre 2005 and every regular season of his career? I'm just wondering when those 162 games before October and any playoff performance that doesn't involve the Yankees stopped mattering.
  21. Santana Sizemore Pujols Hafner Reyes Miggy, Hamels, Prince, Howard and Mauer just on the cusp.
  22. Powerade has by far the best bottles of any drink around they use a thick plastic and won't bend in your hand like Gatorade or Propel bottel. One day last year I cleaned out a bottle and started filling it with water I carry that thing around with me where ever I go. I drink about 10 full bottles a day which equates to about 2.5 gallons. When it comes down to it I really only drink 2 things, about 10 quarts of water and a quart of skim milk a day. I haven't had any sort of pop in about 3 months, I just have no use for it.
  23. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) ...and he hasn't posted an OPS as high as that since 2004. I'm just matching one pointless stat with another. QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) u do have a point. blum is a career 250 hitter, while wilson is a 262, so i guess this could turn out to be an OK signing afterall Because we all know batting average is the be all end all in evaluating a player's offensive abilities/production.
  24. When the time comes Thome will get 50 times as many HoF votes as the rest of the current roster will combined.
