QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 14, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/05/14/t...n.ap/index.html I dont get this. Not at all. *COUGH*ARRESTEDDEVELOPMENT*COUGH* People would rather watch some bulls*** like American Idol or Survivor than a few of the smartest comedies ever made.

Official Save Sweeney and Boot Terrero thread
Kalapse replied to wilmot825's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Terrero has already passed through waivers once this season, if they want to send him down he'll have to pass through them again since he's on the 40 and out of options. He'll pass with ease and if he doesn't, oh well Luis Terrero's are a dime a dozen. Hell the Sox currently have 2 Luis Terrero's broadcasting the games for them and McKay Christensen, Jeff Abbot and Brian Simmons certainly aren't doing anything these days. I'm sure they'd be willing to pinch run for Ozzie. -
Brian McCann and Jeff Francouer will never leave Atlanta. EVER.
-
And Uribe breaks up the monotony.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 11, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) I'm pretty sure that Odalis made him his b**** last year. Padilla and Perez were the two guys who made him look extremely silly. 2006 Dye Vs Perez: 1 for 9 w/ HR and 7 K 2006 Dye Vs Padilla: 0 for 5 w/ 5 K Good call. The 2 pitchers he had the most problems with were by far Padilla and Perez.

QUOTE(Beltin @ May 11, 2007 -> 11:02 AM) I knew my oversimplistic sarcasm would be jumped on immediately. There are A LOT of people out there and on here specifically that think homeruns are a bad thing. There's no way for me to know if you're one of them and just in case there were some who read your post and agreed that homeruns are bad my reply was meant to set them straight.
-
Well this thread just went in an incredibly boring and played out direction. Why do you do these things Wite?
-
QUOTE(Beltin @ May 10, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) Oh No! Not that! How would the Sox survive without another guy swinging for the fences? There's a difference between hitting for occasional power with a good approach at the plate and swinging for the homerun on every damn pitch. Homeruns are a good thing, s***ty approaches brought on by the desire to hit more homeruns than you're capable are a bad thing. If Sweeney were to hit 20 homeruns this season it would greatly help the team.

cbssportsline takes stab at Buehrle to StL angle
Kalapse replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Exactly, there is NO vesting option on the contract and thank god for that. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 10, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) Sweeney will not play everyday over Pods or Erstad with our manager, and we're not using him as a part time player and costing him at bats. He's going back to AAA when we are healthy, the sooner people deal with it (regardless of if you like it or not), the better. We're still a month away from any talk of Podsednik returning anyway. So this really shouldn't be an issue until atleast mid June. I don't see why Thome returning would threaten Sweeney's playing time.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 10, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) Uh, Glaus would play third. We'd send Crede elsewhere. Rios would be amazing. Here are just a few reasons why that will never happen. 1.) Troy Glaus is a terrible defensive 3B and the Sox have multiple contact pitchers 2.) Troy tends to spend a good amount of time on the DL 3.) He has a FULL no trade clause 4.) He's due 10.5M this year, 12.5M next and has a PLAYER option worth 11.25M for '09. 5.) He's still going to cost you some young talent to acquire, something KW is not going to give up for another oft injured, meh OBP, high priced power hitter.

QUOTE(danman31 @ May 10, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) Boom! Though I still don't understand why everyone is so obsessed with Sweeney's .259 average. AKA the second highest batting average on the team and .002 points away from being the highest.

QUOTE(joeynach @ May 10, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) Maybe he means in relation to matchups. Sweeney being a Lefty Ozzie is probably talking about the schedule ahead and if we are slated to hit against a lot of righties or lefties. Over the last 6 games it has been all righties and a lot of sweeney. Im sure if we are supposed to face your Robertson, Cliff Lee, Sabathias and such Terrero would play instead of sweeney. So hes probably going to take a look at what kind of matchups are possible in the near future. Thome will probably be back Tuesday, so a move will have to be made by then. Upcoming Probables: TUES: Mussina ® WED: Wang ® THUR: Rasner ®/DeSalvo ® FRI: Guzman ® SAT: Lilly (L) SUN: Marque ® The Sox then face Oakland who only has one lefty starter (Kennedy) and Tampa who has Kazmir and Fossum That's 5/6 games vs righties then possibly 1 lefty in the next series and who knows who Tampa will throw out there so no that's not a legitimate excuse at all.

The starting pitching has been amazing this season and the past 16 or so games especially. When was the last time the White Sox had a pair of rookies as productive as Danks and Sweeney? Craziness.

Braves meet with Rainbow/PUSH officials
Kalapse replied to Controlled Chaos's topic in The Diamond Club
Shouldn't Willie Harris count for two players? I mean, is there a better player in the game? -

In other news no one will be meeting with the Golden State Warriors to talk about their lack of American White players. That is all. -
QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:16 AM) Now the only way this would be an issue is if they were turning it on at specific times, like after the top of the inning. That would give the Twins an advantage. That's exactly what they've been accused of, admitted to and have never been reprimanded for. The outfield ventilation system would be turned on in the top of the inning and the ducts behind homeplate would be opened in the bottom half. It's complete horses***.

cbssportsline takes stab at Buehrle to StL angle
Kalapse replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:45 AM) I guess if he has 700 plate appearances, it would cost the White Sox $1,250,00 to buy out his contract (for next year). If he was injured or didn't play much, the buyout would have been only $250K. The value for next year's contract ranges from $3.5 million to $6 million based on meeting certain incentives. I know the terms of the contract I've just never seen any evidence of a vesting option except for a few people on here. I was just wondering if you have seen the vesting option mentioned somewhere before. -

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 10, 2007 -> 08:06 AM) If they sign Erstad (and it's not a matter of signing him, his option for $6 million vests automatically with 600 plate appearances), then BA is done with the White Sox, unless they let Pods and Dye go and don't replace them via trade or FA (Ichiro, Hunter, Jones, unlikely). An outfield of Sweeney, Erstad and Anderson just isn't going to put up enough numbers to compete in the AL Central. Santana is a FA after 2008. Buerhle is looking at no less than 4 years-$56 million and all the way up to 6-$100 million Do you have a link that says Erstad has a vesting option? The only thing I've seen is that if he does get 600 PA this year the team option for '08 rises to $6M, it does not become guaranteed. -
QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:18 AM) Even when Pods came back, he will be nowhere near as effective as Sweeney is now. This is most definitely the case but by mid-June there will still be a big hub bub when Ozzie plugs him back into the leadoff spot. People will forget that a strained abductor is sort of a hampering injury for a speed guy when Pods proclaims that he's back to 100% in order to save his starting job. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:19 AM) That lineup is pretty. If we can have that as the starting lineup, and get Hall back healthy... I'll feel pretty good about this offense going forward. The Sox could suddenly become a pretty scary team if Erstad somehow keeps up this pace and Podsednik never sees the field in a Sox uniform again. With the way the pitching is going thus far this season, there would be good reason for some AL Central teams to be very worried if the Sox get healthy.
-
Ugh, this is one of those situations where KW needs to step in and make sure Sweeney doesn't see AAA for the rest of the season.
-
From what I've seen thus far this season, I look forward to the next 5 years of John Danks' career. They are going to be a blast.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 9, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Wow, don't see me do that often.

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 9, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Papelbon? F-Rod? Seriously? That's your guess? Come on now. QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 9, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) I really believe they have both throttled back to gain some control. Also, it was noted that Sisco was throwing from a different arm angle last night, which may decrease his velocity as well. What would be considered dominating? How about leading the majors in ERA (1.65) and K/9 (10.72), with a WHIP under 1.00 and a HR/9 of 0.41 among pitchers with at least 40 innings since August 20th, 2006. Guess who that is? That's 43 2/3 IP and only 2 HR allowed and a 52:20 K:BB

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 9, 2007 -> 11:13 AM) How is Mr. Owens looking at the plate this year? Well he's down to .277/.357/.327/.683, 13:16 BB:K, in 101 ABs he has 5 extra base hits all of them being doubles. He is 14/18 in stolen bases which is nice but after his hot start he's now come back down to earth.
