  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) We're only paying Thome abotu $6-$7 million a year. We got a truckload of cash from the Phillies. And we're paying Vazquez $9.5M next year.
  2. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Indianapolis 14 Tennessee 13 This would've been close to the score 4 years ago but it's this way today too. Isn't this a bit worrisome if you're a Colts fan?
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) it wasnt even really his fault, the handoff was bad and it looks like one of our own guys hit him im not sure i need to see it again. No one touched him, the ball basically just bounced off his chest, it looked like he wasn't ready for the handoff. I thought at the time of the draft that he was a wasted pick and he's done nothing to change my mind since. There's a lot of players in that draft that would fit this team a whole lot better than that loser. And just to clearify my dislike of Benson has nothing to do with a meaningless fumble at the end of a blowout.
  4. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) I did too. And then he threw 14 INTs. I also dislike Terrence McGee. If he gets beat again...wtf do I care, he's been beaten like 4 times today and it's cost the Bills like 21 points. All I can do is hope they get on the board. Not much more. Get on the board? You should be shooting for 150 total yards, I think that's a much more realistic goal.
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) I hate you I love JP Losman.
  6. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) I am not a Bills fan The Bears are doing a bit of giggy shoving right now. This is some incredibly enjoyable football.
  7. If the players in the Sox' dugout are going to be intimidated or would play worse because a teammate makes more money than them then I don't know why the hell I bother cheering for these pansies. Same goes for the Rowand bulls***, if the absense of one below average player causes the team to play like s*** in the second half of the season then there's something seriously wrong with the guys in that clubhouse.
  8. I just read through this thread and there is one thing I don't get, how is ARod's $25M salary cancerous but Jeter's $19M (soon to be $20M) not? So just to get this straight $25M = Cancer but $20M = Jordan of baseball.
  9. Scott Podsednik has the lowest SB% of any player in baseball with 21 or more SB at 67.8%. Players with 21+ SB, lowest AB/SO: Mike Cameron - 3.89 Alfonso Soriano - 4.04 Grady Sizemore - 4.28 Ryan Freel - 4.63* Felipe Lopez - 4.89 Hanley Ramirez - 4.95* Joey Gathright - 5.11* Scott Podsednik - 5.46* * - True leadoff hitter QUOTE(bulokis @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) I hope we can snag Pierre and put him in left field. We need what Podsednik did in '05 where he stole bases successfuly, bunted and disrupted the pitcher's rhythm. Pierre can give us that. He also does a few other things Podsednik did well such as low OBP, non-existant SLG, no power to speak of, inconsistent SB%, bad reads in the OF and a top 3 worst arm in all of baseball not to mention his overall inconsistency from month to month.
  10. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) We need to start at least two lefties. Please Kenny make it happen. Well, there is a nice abundance of quality left handed starters out there so yeah it shouldn't be a problem finding 2 or 3 lefties to round out the '07 rotation.
  11. Just to be ironic I'm going to close this thread. Plus I enjoy hitting the icon which closes the thread so that's a plus.
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Hardly his fault. witesoxfan's signature sums it up: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showuser=48 INHFTOCS
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Maybe if Brian Anderson hit over .200 the first two months of the season his manager wouldn't have gotten sick of the thought of putting this automatic out in the lineup. I cannot for the life of me understand the love of this guy. I can understand people writing, "I still have faith in Brian if we have patience. He might learn how to hit in the bigs." I cannot understand people that wanted this guy to have 500 at bats. BA was AWFUL at the plate this year. He was great defensively. Podsednik was awful both offensively and defensively can you give me one good reason why he got 500 ABs?
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 07:05 PM) By the way...hasn't anyone noted that there are people who wanted to be done with Brian Anderson at many points this year...yet now the vaunted Marlins scouting department, the same folks who were somehow able to put together a nearly .500 team on $16 million after taking the Cubs, Mets, and Red Sox for everything they could get...now want that same Brian Anderson? It's almost as though they see something they like from the kid... It's also funny how Anderson is getting lumped in with Baldelli and Kemp, that's some damn good talent to be in the same sentence with.
  15. QUOTE(beck72 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Garcia. He's the only one not locked up besides MB who the sox will try to lock up this offseason. If the sox are far apart on a MB deal, they should go into 2007 with him anyway. If the sox are then out of it by the deadline then maybe deal him. KW will look at Zito and the A's success and hold onto MB You see the A's will be getting compensation for Zito this offseason in the form of draft picks (not nearly enough). However there is a new proposal up for consideration by the owners, the elimination of draft pick compensation if they Sox did hang onto Buehrle thinking they'd get some draft pick compensation for him in free agency (not nearly fair compensation) and they pass this resolution, the Sox will be s*** out of luck and they'll walk away with nothing to show for him. Zito is the only one of the big 3 to go to free agency, Beane dealt the other 2, you have to remember there are extenuating circumstances surrounding the A's decision to keep Zito, it's not fair to compare it to Buehrle's situation. If the Sox can't come to an agreement with Buehrle this offseason then he needs to be dealt, Buehrle is worth far too much on the trade market to be lost with no compensation, that's just bad business practice. If the Sox want to be at all successful in 2008 and beyond, they will follow this plan.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) Ugh, I told myself I was done debating all the BA garbage but Ozzie did nothing to protect BA in the first half. If by protecting him you mean throwing him out there against a lot of left handers when he hits better against righties, then sure, he protected him. You really shouldn't even bother debating it with people anymore. There will always be the few on here who will bring no real reasoning, logic or stats to their comments and make statements like that. It's not very hard to just make a comment like that, it's incredibly difficult to back up however so you'll likely only see a few posts like that in every thread with no rebuttal to criticizm because they're not interested in backing up their asinine comments.
  17. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) because Chavez and ARod clogged up the votes. Not to mention there was like 8 white sox allstars already anyways haha. he did deserve it though as well as Iguchi did. I expect Crede to get a decent 2 year deal by KW with a club or player option for 2009. That way he won't have to go through arbitration 2 years in a row. Kind of similar to the Buerhle deal a few years back. As far as Fields goes, there just isn't room for him right now. I expect him to be traded this offseason, (maybe in that Crawford deal ) Eric Chavez didn't make the All-Star game in '06. Alex Rodriguez and Troy Glaus were the AL reps.
  18. McCarthy, Garland and Vazquez will be in the starting rotation for sure next year IMO. If Buehrle is not locked up before the start of the season then he must and likely will be traded. Garcia must and likely will be traded this offseason, unless of course you're willing to give him a long term contract extension right now, which no sane person would do. Contreras is the wild card, he's about 52 years old but still has some great stuff, he was fantastic up until his DL stint last year but after that he was pretty horrible. If a deal comes along that KW can not pass up I don't think he'd hesitate to deal him but if I had to put money on it I'd say Contreras will be in the rotation next year.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) Boz.. just curious why you brought up a Rowand comparison. That's because he had a piss poor September (.200 AVG). His mid-June was quite good along with all of July (.313) and all of August (.296).
  20. QUOTE(cuddlyboy26 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) If the White Sox refuse an arbitration price either this year, or next year though wouldnt he be a free agent? Also if he was traded to a new team this year, signed a 1-year deal only, and chose not to resign after 2007 wouldnt he also be a free agent before the end of 2008 then? No matter what he is under the control of the team he plays for through 2008. There is no refusing arbitration, he is under their control because he's still on his rookie contract. The only reason players sign the one year deals while under team control is to avoid arbitration. If he does not sign a long term or 1 year deal this offseason then he will go to arbitration. The White Sox will submit a price which they believe Crede to be worth and Boras will submit a number. A league arbitrator with review the case and chose one of the 2 dollar amounts that were submitted, Crede will then make that much for the 2007 season. After 2007 the same process will take place. 2008 is his final arbitration eligible year so after the '08 season he needs to re-sign with the White Sox via a new 1 year deal, a long term deal or they can go to arbitration to determine a 1 year deal for him, if the 2 sides can not come to an agreement on any of these 3 options then Crede will become a free agent.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) The fact of the matter is if Figgins was considered a guy who could play a great SS, he would have been playing there by now. Well the Angels do have one of the best defensive SS in the game starting for the right now, even if Figgins was excellent defensively at short he wouldn't be starting over Orlando Cabrera.
  22. QUOTE(cuddlyboy26 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) I know that but the Red Sox can just not sign him and let him become a free agent before then. Wow just wow. 2 gems in one sentence. 1.) Red Sox 2.) Non tendering Crede? Hillarious.
  23. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) You can't calculate intangibles... Such as having a horseshoe placed firmly up a team's collective ass. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) Don't know if your being sarcastic, but I think the 05 team makes the playoffs. I'm referring to the way the 05 team played, not referring to the 05 roster. Specifically I think we all know that the 06 team would win well over 100 games if our pitching staff pitched like it did last year, if not 110 plus games. The '05 roster, not the '05 team. If the Sox had Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, Garica and El Duque in the starting rotation pitching like they did this year except with the '05 offense still in place, meaning Jurrasic, Timo, Blum and company would still be around. There ain't a chance in hell the '05 roster wins 90 games in 2006.
