If the players in the Sox' dugout are going to be intimidated or would play worse because a teammate makes more money than them then I don't know why the hell I bother cheering for these pansies. I just read through this thread and there is one thing I don't get, how is ARod's $25M salary cancerous but Jeter's $19M (soon to be $20M) not? So just to get this straight $25M = Cancer but $20M = Jordan of baseball.

Garcia must and likely will be traded this offseason, unless of course you're willing to give him a long term contract extension right now, which no sane person would do. Contreras is the wild card, he's about 52 years old but still has some great stuff, he was fantastic up until his DL stint last year but after that he was pretty horrible. If a deal comes along that KW can not pass up I don't think he'd hesitate to deal him but if I had to put money on it I'd say Contreras will be in the rotation next year.
