Did not know if this was posted already from Espn overratted player list.............. 1 Sox, 1 Scrub ( I hate KW ) Left field: Scott Podsednik Calling Scott Podsednik overrated is like saying stunned fish in a barrel are easy targets. The former Brewers flash-in-the-pan at age 27 was grossly overhyped in 2003; his sophomore season was indicative of his true ability (.244 Avg, .313 OBP, .364 Slg). If Podsednik were a great fly catcher playing in a park with a cavernous center field, he might be worth starting. Except that he's only average-plus in the outfield and he's now been shifted to left field, where his balsa wood bat is not even close to adequate. Starting pitcher: Kerry Wood The field of overrated pitchers is crowded – with marginally talented southpaws having more lives than a black cat that was the favorite pet of Dorian Gray. One pitcher stands out, though: Kerry Wood. After seven years in the majors, Wood's reputation as a dominant pitcher is still 90 percent-based on his overpowering stuff while his underwhelming results are largely ignored. The Cubs right-hander has won an average of less than 10 games per year since making his big-league debut despite average run support. He has led the NL only once in strikeout, in 2003; he's logged 175 innings or more only twice. Wood's fabled 20K one-hitter in 1998 was due as much to a strike zone as wide as a Hummer as it was due to his electrifying stuff. To truly become an ace, Wood needs to use his changeup more and develop at least average control.
  2. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ May 8, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) That's not right. Boston won in 1918, whereas 1917 was the last time the White Sox won the series. They SHOULD have won in 1919, but that was the infamous "Black Sox" series. You are correct my bad actually prior to 2004 last 2 times Red Sox won series, White Sox made the WS next year, winning in 1917 and losing in 1919 still great karma to get to WS.
  3. Sweep ......................................................record in 1 run games is awesome.
  4. Last time before 2004 that Boston won the World Series the next year was the LAST year White Sox have been Champs . I hope history repeats itself.
  5. No way Scrubs do that Lee is worth alot more than a FA to be closer, you might do that in fantasy with a buddy only.
  6. I took him in a keeper league this year happy I did I really like him on this team.
  7. Iguchi has been great.........AR got money now plays like he did whole career
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ May 2, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) Not to be rude, but get a life man. How can you say anything bad about Garland right now? Hey sunshine I am just given the facts on JG.
  9. I am happy JG is 5-0 but i want a whole year not 1 month to see if he has really turned the corner for real. The bad news is that his strikeout rate (3.9 K/9) is pitiful, and he hasn't faced any of the top five scoring teams in the American League.
  10. She is a f***ing drama queen

  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) Add Jeff Weaver to that, if I remember correctly. That is also correct

    Neyer

Updated: April 29, 2005 White Sox living charmed life By Rob Neyer Here's why I don't believe the White Sox are the best team in the American League Central: Their pitchers obviously can't keep pitching as well as they have. The White Sox are 16-6 because 1) their pitching's been fantastic, and 2) they've been exceptionally good in one-run games, going 9-2. There's not a lot to say about those close games; as I'm sure you know, if you go 9-2 in one-run games you've probably been more than a little lucky Can they keep it up? Career 2005 M Buehrle 3.76 3.89 J Contreras 4.85 3.48 F Garcia 3.94 2.83 J Garland 4.68 1.80 O Hernandez 3.96 2.35 Particularly when you consider that if you look past their ERAs, they haven't really pitched all that well. A number of other staffs have struck out and walked roughly the same number of hitters as the White Sox, but without the resulting ERA. They've pitched better than they are and they've been lucky. Reality will eventually bite, and when it does the White Sox will have a middle-of-the-road staff, perhaps a notch or two better. Can they win that way? Not the way they're hitting. The White Sox currently sport a .311 on-base percentage
