  1. Oh man it's snowing again. This might take a hit to my biking. Saturday-Wednesday I've biked over 50 miles.
  2. Being from Iowa I'd hate to see rotating primaries but I can see why every other state, other than New Hampshire would want it to rotate. But hey, most people are looking for self interests anyways. As for the Electoral College, it makes sense to have it be gone. I just worry that the small states wouldn't be nearly as represented. Plus I think the Electoral College makes things more interesting during on election night.
  3. haha that's funny and I'm glad you got my favorite American James Madison involved.
  4. Oh I remembered a better one. I'm not much of a drinker so my stories are very limited. But on my roommates 21st birthday, 4 of us saw a beer sign in a bar that we liked, so we started pulling it off, it was a b**** to get off and finally we did and took it out and put it in the car. lol I can't believe no one did anything about it because we were after it for a while.
  5. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) The sad truth here is you can't manufacture romance. Especially if close contact isn't maintained. Perhaps meeting you for the first time in a social setting was awkward. It may change in the future, who knows? What'd I do is avoid any mention of your feelings (as several others have noted) and work towards bulding a friendship. Even if that makes you feel like a pussy. Just ask yourself this-- who is going to decide whether a relationship exists? Her. You don't hold any advantage here since you've essentially played your cards. She's going to hold your balls anyway you look at it. Would you want her in your life, even if it's just as a friend, or risk everything playing games in a vein attempt for her to open herself up to you? Honestly, I'd say it's going to be tough. Especially since the mutual attraction noted by you occured in high school, when she was only 15 years old, and contact was sparse since graduation. That's some great advice as well. Relationships don't start with distance, obviously there could be exceptions but yeah. It was awkward for me to finally hangout with her so I would guess it was for her too. Fortunately I think we're building a friendship because we've a talked off and on for the past few months, and especially the last 2 weeks. It's a decent sign of friendship if she's messaging me randomly. While I think it's nearly impossible to get what I want out of it, and I can accept that, but if there's a chance it will be over the summer as long as she's willing to hangout. We'll be in the same town, more activities in the summer so we'll see. It's not hard to figure out I'm one of those "nice guys" and I do want her to be happy even if it's not with me. Maybe this varies for everyone, but for me, if I was attracted to someone, it was easier to become attracted again to them. I know she doesn't want a relationship right now and just wants to be single, which I can understand. Whatever happens I hope I can be satisfied that this time I gave the effort and tried the best I could, and hopefully in the end I'll be friends with her again. Unfortunately in some things it's a struggle being friends, we've both changed a lot in 4 years.
  6. haha, this will get topped pretty quickly and I might remember more as I hear stories but last year I smashed about 40 cans in a row with my fists, needless to say I had a few cuts, nothing severe though thankfully, haha.
  7. Those Canadian teams were stacked for a few years in the early 90's. Watching Thomas and Griffey in their primes is a childhood memory I'll never forget.
  8. There have been some weird injuries this spring training. This and the twisted testicle especially.
  9. I'm having the same problem, except I need to decide if I want to get my Masters in Public Administration. I'm tired of school but I'm sure it'd help me out in the long run being able to be a City Administrator in larger cities.
  10. This is my 10,000th post and since 10k is a milestone on soxtalk, and it took me nearly 4 years to reach it, I've decided not to start a new thread, but to put it in a thread I started a couple of days ago. Thanks for everyone who's put up some advice in this thread, it has really helped. Hopefully another 10,000 posts will come.
  11. It was a good read. For me it doesn't hurt as much as it used to since the Sox have a World Series now. What hurts the most for me is the strike of '94 still. I was too young to understand why they'd not want to play a fun game like baseball.
  12. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) mmmm... I knew I liked him. lol actually I don't know if he did or not, I made that up, but I'm all for hot dogs, haha.
  13. I heard Obama ate a turkey hot dog today, is that news worthy?
  14. Must be an Iowa and Illinois thing as of recently. 2 campuses in each steve have had something like it in the past month or so.
  15. QUOTE(lostfan @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) That's a failing of this rigid 2-party system, if you ask me. Plus, what's the point of having checks and balances if the president and both houses of Congress are controlled by the same party? That's a great point, however I don't see anything other than a 2 party system for a long time, maybe the rest of my lifetime. I think this because each party isn't going to want to give up people from their party to start a new one. If there's one thing both parties agree on, keeping a 2 party system might be one of them.
  16. Yeah, Iowa's been really strange the last few weeks. Iowa jokes permitted.
  17. Yep, that's the one.
  18. I'm gonna go with Anderson. It doesn't matter to me too much who starts in the last spot. But I'd rather have Anderson start because I'm hoping he can turn it around and I think he's a better defensive outfielder.
  19. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) Black Prancer lol nice
  20. lol what an idiot. Yesterday I heard that two boys 12 and 14 went to a police station and threatened to hold him up with a fake gun or something. I'm sure it's out somewhere on the internet.
  21. Dang, the Cubs had to sign him.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 07:39 PM) It's just not as fun when you're not hanging with your buddies. If you throw the Sox and SIU bball on that priority list somewhere then it's pretty much perfect. Sorry for taking your thread over a bit, tell. oh I don't care, it's not a big deal, there's been a lot of good advice in the thread.
  23. I rode my bike for an hour and a half today. Going back sucked since the wind was from the northwest, and north and west were my directions back.
