  1. Thanks Alexei for gracing us with your glove of stone.
  2. Dye would still be running after that. Rios's defense just saved a run.
  3. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 10:43 PM) Seriously. I'm not one to make wild crazy proclamations about seasons or anything, but we don't deserve to win this division. We are embarrassing. The top 3 in our order has left 8 f***ers on base. Fister and his bag of crap worked us over like we were pony leaguers, and you wonder why we look like crap against King Felix. Are you serious.
  4. Nice if Pods could of made just a little contact. No lets K with men on.
  5. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) I saw a team that was desperate to win and a team that played not to lose. But I think we played with more urgency in the 2H when it was still tied. Really wished there was a better angle on the Davies offside. Was pretty close. Davies is on his way to being a terror it seems. The guy is very dangerous. Anyone else notice how often the road team loses if they score an early goal? Seems like the road team just packs it in and hopes to carry that one goal for a win or draw. Overall congrats to Mexico. They played to win and we didnt for the most part. Hopefully Honduras doesnt win tonight and we can stay a few points off of the 4th place team. This is the typical US football I was talking about. They go into bunker mode and allow the other team to pepper the goal with shots and corners. You can't sit back on your heels and pray that your defense holds up. Especially when your back line is playing with some cards. Not having Altidore out there earlier is a joke as well.
  6. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) Twice now that Mexico had enough time to have a cigarette before a defender got there, and both resulted in goals. Typical US bulls***. Bradley goes into bunker mode and prays for the point, instead of taking the attack down the field towards the other end. The minute that US gets a coach who can play attacking football, is the day that they play better. This sit back and let the opposition bombard your goalie never is going to work.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 04:21 PM) It is disrespectful and just plain wrong. I think the lineup issue is always in flux and right now calls to bench people or move them up and down in the line up is being based on just a few games. There are for sure possibilities to be looked at though So we should let him flounder in a prime offensive position based on what, respect. We are down by 2 games in the division race, and have a tough schedule. Screw personal gain. All hands on deck. Whomever produces gets to play. Whomever hits well gets to hit in the 3-4-5 hole. Its August, not April.
  8. You have Alex Rios on your team. And you play Wise in CF over him.
  9. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) Guys seem to be inspired by the acquisition of Rios. If the heat of a division chase doesnt inspire them, maybe they can have a front row view of Rios taking their job then. Its August. Its time to perform.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) What effect will Greg Walker have on him? Don't know. I have made a pretty concerted effort to keep off the Walker subject, maybe you should make a concerted effort not to try and bait.
  11. Love this move. Hopefully he gets a bump by coming over to a pennant race. Hitting in our park will help him out in the long run.
  12. QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:29 AM) I remember in 2004 Boston freaked out because Manny was placed on waivers. In any event, I hope McCulloch is traded so I can see the inevitable "We are very excited and envision him in the starting rotation next season" non-sense from whoever picks him up. Then I will laugh and laugh. We are excited and envision him throwing batting practice to our batters before the game next season.
  13. 3 below 500 against our own division. Thats pretty sad when you have 2 rotten teams including 1 that traded away most of its good players. To win your division, you have to beat your own division. Out of the 3 contenders, we are the only one with a losing record against our division.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 09:48 PM) i hope it's a lie Why?
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) It was a great pitch to hit. Don't blame the pitch selection, blame his inability to do ANYTHING with it. Slav, you have to make him throw a strike. He isnt going to get 3 over the plate. In that situation you make him get one in the zone, before you attack.
  16. One of the dumbest ABs by Konerko in years. A guy who cannot throw strikes and he pops up pitch number 2 after he misses by 3 feet. Are you f***ing kidding me.
  17. Anytime Mark wants to start pitching and not lobbing up meatballs would be nice.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:44 PM) Bad news if true. Retardi would probably open up trade talks then. These are the only 5 teams that can beat us on this if we wanted in.
  19. QUOTE (striker62704 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:21 PM) Rios has a career .285 average, batted over .300 once. Oh btw, Pods costs about 1/24th of Rios. 2006 .302 BA 33 2b 17 hrs 2007 .297 BA 43 2b 24 hrs 2008 .291 BA 47 2b 15 hrs Yes Pods cost 1/24th of Rios. Cheaper does not always mean better.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) I was talking about the Sox choices for next year in terms of who to bring back if Rios was on the team. Dye, Pods, Thome one of them would have to be gone unless they were willing to take a significantly decreased role. Either Dye or Thome is here as the DH. You cannot put Dye out in RF anymore. His defense is terrible. You have a pitching staff build for pitch to contact. You cannot have people in the OF who cant catch the ball and turn singles into doubles on a regular basis.
  21. QUOTE (striker62704 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) Defensively, but that's it. Pods has a better AVG and OBP, leads off, and has been key to our teams turnaround this year. One hits 300 this year and is over 30 and was sitting at home at the beginning of this year. The other has hit near 300 with a ton of doubles and plays great D in CF for the last few years and is 28. Please don't tell me that you dont think that Pods is better than Rios.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) Well thats the question, where would Rios be slotted? Would they want to bring back Pods in CF and have Rios replacing Dye? Would they have Rios in CF? Rios value as a CF is obviously a lot more. Rios would move to CF. Pods would probably move to LF, Q to DH or Dye to DH. Remember, this is move not for just this year. But for the next few. Kenny is trying to build a consistant contender. Not just a one year flash in the pan.....
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) It does make some sense from the Sox point of view. The real question would be the money and whether ownership felt they could invest in another cheaper player next year and get similar production. This makes sense for Kenny. Money coming off the books. There has already been reported interest. He is having a down year, but is a near 300 hitter over the last few years. Speed, defense, Had 47 doubles last year. He is just entering his prime and is under control for through his prime. Hope this is true. If anything, this is something that makes us better for a long time not just this year. Guys who play excellent defense and are high average hitters playing CF are not exactly a dime a dozen around here.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) Confirmed on espn.com, good luck with that 5.37 ERA Minnesota. he was supposed to start against us tommorrow, wonder who will pitch instead... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4383523 Maybe it was because of this. Justin Masterson will start against us on Saturday now.
