  1. Dogs are so behind cats these days.
  2. I was lucky enough to know someone that was in the same major and same class schedule but was about a year ahead. I bought his notes(which were as detailed as you can get and much better than I would ever do) and was able to get a big advantage in most of my classes. You would be shocked at how many of my professors were robots that would regurtitate the same exact class material year in and year out. Pretty much almost to the exact day of when they did the lecture.
  3. QUOTE(ptatc @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Did anyone else notice that when the Twins have someone in scoring postion or had the game on the line, the hitters tried to hit the ball up the middle. It seems common philosophy that this should be the approach. However, in the first two games of the series, the Sox middle infielders were playing away from the middle of the field. it was especially noticable in the game where macdougal gave up the winning run. Every ball went up the middle. Mac got to one of them but the infielders couldn't quite get to the slowly hit ones up the middle. I don't knowif this is poor scouting or Ozzie's paln but we need to play them differently next time. When you get 2 strikes against a twins hitter, you should go in on him. On 2 strikes they are looking to put the ball in play either up the middle or oppo. So you need to play to that.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) You're f***ing me, right? This is what he is talking about, and its his plans for next year not this year. They either want Brian to develop into a power guy or a top of the lineup guy. Guillen likes Brians speed and wants to use it more. BRIAN'S SONG: Guillen has speed in mind for center fielder Brian Anderson's future if Anderson is willing. Guillen would like Anderson to play winter ball after the season with the intent of improving either his power-hitting ability or his speed. ''I told him, 'You have to work this winter on being a power hitter or a speed guy,''' Guillen said. ''I think he's the fastest guy we have. He has to pick because you can't be successful in both.'' Anderson's speed has been a plus defensively, but his hitting woes (.227) have limited his chances to steal bases. He has four in nine attempts.
  5. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 10:31 AM) the best thing a teacher/school can do is empower their students. not regulate them. i remember that 10 years ago when i was in high school, our school had a no food/drinks in class policy. no one could bring a water bottle or sandwich to class. the administration was afraid of either what was being drunk or garbage/mess that would be created. i had a class where the teacher said... you know what... i'm going to allow you to eat/drink in my class. But if you take advantage of the situation, it's over. I don't think its right that you are being told when you can eat and drink like a dog. That teacher got more respect from her students than anyone teacher I ran across. The troublesome kids (the ones who got into trouble in every other class) loved this teacher and not just for this comment/decision. It was a matter of respect. The students felt like they were being respected and gave it back 10-fold. The students learned more in her class, then any other. They still remember her today. Ask yourself why??? Was it because she allowed them to eat and drink in the classroom? Absolutely not. You are in school to get one thing, an education. You are not there to make buddies with the teachers. You are instructed in math, science, social science and arts to help round you out and prepare you for college or the work force. Teachers are authority figures, not your buddy. It isnt a one on one relationship with your teacher, its a one to many relationship. And the comment about being told that you can eat or drink just like a dog. At work most people have a set time that you can have lunch. At some places you have a set place to eat said lunch. The rules you learn in high school are in preparation for the rules you have in the workforce.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) Kap, the issue is that same Sunday lineup costing us too many games before September. Mack's the whipping boy around here, but it seems like he costs us a run every friggin game cause he's been misplaced. It's not his fault, but he's not in a position to succeed. We have a left fielder who's doing a hell of a lot worse than our centerfielder. However, Mack doesn't start there....ever. Mack is pretty good OF when he plays LF or RF. He is not a centerfielder. He has stated many times on the radio that its not a position he feels comfortable with. He hasnt been happy with his centerfield play. This is not his fault, its just that he is miscast. And I feel bad for him, because some people dont recognize that he is a good defensive LF and a good RF and just think he is bad as an OF all around. He is a valuable player as a bench player and left handed stick off the bench late in games. Anderson needs to play just about every single day. He is 24 years old, and is ready to play everyday. Now here is a problem we havent talked about. Ozzie needs to see what he has in Brian before the playoffs start. Because if he is not confident in him to face X pitcher from the right side becaue its a bad matchup, is he going to be comfortable to face him in the playoffs. I dont want Mack roaming CF in the playoffs where mistakes are magnified 10 fold. My say is that we let the kid play everyday. If Uribe could play last year with his terrible BA at the time when we desperately needed offense, we can play BA who has been hitting well since June and plays spectacular D on a good hitting team. Free Brian Anderson, let him play!!!!!!
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) This is true about Sunday, Jackie. However, I've noticed over the last couple weeks that a White Sox loser thread fills up much, much quicker than a White Sox winner thread. Anyway, it's not that big a deal. My excuse is I was actually at the game. Great game. Buerhle pitched well, and shockingly when we have our entire starting lineup out there outside of Gload at 1st, we seem to win. Its time to end the Mack/Anderson platoon. There is no reason for it. Mack is a utlity guy/pinch hitter. He is not a starting CF. Anderson had some nice ABs today. If Vaz or Contreras falter early in there next start, we need to quickly insert bmac and get him up to about 70-80 pitches. Then insert him into the rotation for x pitcher. Either contreras is hurting more than he is letting on or whatever. If he bombs again, put him on the DL, then get him healthy for the playoffs. On September 1 we need to call up Tracey. This will allow him to take bmacs place as the long guy in the pen and allow bmac to start. If Buerhle gets his head on straight and pitches more like this, Garland and bmac we can still win this. 3 out of 5 starters pitching well is better than only 1 or 2 out of them.
  8. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) Like Neal Cotts? Odd that our crappiest reliever is option A out of the pen. Usually you dont go to your reliever with the 8 era in August when the game is on the line and you face Johan the next day. But hey, the magic 8 ball sometimes answers wrong.
  9. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) Yeah, but he gave up a home run to Hunter, right? See, it was right to bring in Cotts and Riske last night. Whew. For about a day there, I thought Ozzie had lost his touch with the pitching staff. Dont worry, Bmac will pitch again around the 8th of September. His pitching staff is fine, bmac sucks and should be inserted over his vet staff. And Mack will play only when a right pitches, or when a tough lefty that Brian may have a problem with. Oh and we played the shuffle game with Owens in AAA. We called him up and put him on the DL so we could save him for the playoffs and make him playoff eligible. What in the name of all that is holy did he do to say he could hit major league pitching. He is hitting .264 in AAA. But I forget he is fast. So that means our manager is in love with him. I would bring up Sweeney who doesnt have a long looping swing, and has a good arm and plays good D. but he isnt a juan pierre puss arm type, so he need not apply.
  10. Rotoworld take on the Count. Jose Contreras was pulled after 2 2/3 innings having allowed five runs Saturday in a no-decision versus the Twins. We have to take issue with manager Ozzie Guillen's decision to play Rob Mackowiak in center field tonight. Left-handed hitters have hit Johan Santana better than right-handers this season, but Mackowiak hardly ever gets to face lefties and he's a big defensive downgrade from Brian Anderson. While Contreras was in the game, there were two balls hit over Mackowiak's head that Anderson might have had plays on. Contreras wasn't going to outpitch Johan Santana either way, but he could have lasted longer with better defense tonight.
  11. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) Fear not. I am quite sure, no matter the cause, that COOP WILL FIX IT Bmac went 5.1 innings and gave up only one run. He obviously isnt stretched out enough to start. And is bad according to our manager.
  12. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) Rongey is the worst kind of tool..... the kind that will try to put frosting on a turd and tell you it's Devil's Food cake. Considering I only hear Rongey when I'm driving during work, the day he says something remotely negative about the Sox WITHOUT qualifying it with 10 positives before/after the negative, I'll probably drive off the road. Typical Rongeyism: "Sure the Sox lost a heartbreaker tonight, and yes, they're still 5.5 games out of 1st and now 1.5 games out for the WC, but it could be worse. The Sox could be in the Philadelphia Phillies position." WTF does that have to do with the White Sox? He must practice Tai Chi. Misdirection. The poop right in front of you doesnt stink as bad as your neighbors poop, Now that is stinky poop, thank god you dont have that poop.
  13. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Alright, I just got home, having been totally out of the game loop where I was. I come home, and the first highlight I see is a ball hitting the warning track in centerfield, about 2 feet over Mackowiak's head, and bouncing into the stands. Someone please tell me that Mackowiak conclusively blew 4 or 5 plays tonight, so this loss has some worth: that is, that I will never have to watch this guy out there again. Then again, I suppose that should be clear to Terry Bevington by now, and yet Ozzie insists that all is well with El Macko in centerfied. Okay, so -- at the risk of repeating -- did he screw up out there? Well Anderson was put in later in the game, there was a rocket hit to the center field fence. He strolled back, and caught it at the top of the wall. Mack = butcher in CF
  14. And the final moron to call in. Is your super spin artist. The final touch on your fanboy show. If the worst thing that happens to us whitesox fans is that you lose some games tonight, you could be one of the fighting men overseas. Oh brother. Sure I guess sitting through tonights game was better than say 3 hours of physical torture, or breaking a leg, or running over my foot. But then again, I sat a home watched the game, and thought it sucked how it ended. Then he thinks that Contreras can turn it around. He bases this on, whatever. The ship can turn around, its not the end of the world. We have tunnel vision. This guy is a douche. Enjoy mediocrity is his answer. The fat lady hasnt sung yet. I will leave that one alone. And of course Rongey pulls it out, spanks it a bit, then gives him a Triple threats sports card.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) I have so much admiration for the heart and hustle Hunter is playing with right now. You can tell he's nowhere near 100 pct out there, but he's the most intense guy on the field and in the dugout. Watching those jackasses doing their chest bump crap on your mound cant be good for the team. Shuster, the sox arent down, they played in a great baseball team.
  16. KW should of picked up Jose Valentin. That would be the cherry on our 2004 feel to this team. Playing Mack in CF is the same as putting Valentstasche in the SS hole. Jose does have that swing for the fences look that we love so much around here.
  17. Rongey says he is a fan, and he gets frustrated. Bulls***. You are a paid cheerleader. Your job description is to spin poop into something that the fans can injest, and then tell them its Fillet Mignon. And then act shocked that they still think its poop.
  18. Wasnt Ozzie hired to change the face of this team. That our team was one dimensional. That we couldnt pitch, and would wait for the home run. We didnt play good fundamentals, we didnt steal, we werent grinders. ozzie stated that he would motivate the team, and keep them focus. That prolonged slumps and lack of focus wouldnt be his team. That lasted 1 and 1/2 years. Now we have Jerry Manuel back, he plays his sunday lineup everyday, and starts his starters once a week. He keeps his starters in too long.
  19. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Rationally, it is possible to still make the playoffs, and even take over the Tigers. With the way the Tigers are going, they could be in big trouble. The problem is that the Sox can't put wins together and there is nothing about this team that tells me things will change. In 2004 the Twins were sputtering in late August. We were dropping games and couldnt make a game up. Then they righted the ship and plowed through. lets worry about getting out of 3rd place before we start talking about the tigers fading.
  20. Some drunken slurred fan calls in. He thinks its a well played game. A slurred rambling of crap. But the drunken squirrel finds a nut. He asks the question. Why cant bmac start. Rongey says if bmac gives you 5 and Vaz gets you 5, why make the change. Bmac cant go more than 5 innings. he just cant says the PFB. Then the show is over for the affiliates. Drop dead Rongey.
  21. Rongey back on. So his show, is basicall. Talk and jack up the sox for 2 minutes, talk about your sponsor take 3 to 5 minute break. then take one caller, make him skype caller of the show, then take a sponsor break. then take the OG post game conference, then take a break. Now sponsor talk, some cute sayings about Dye and his clutch homerun that was a moral victory. then he gives out the number again. Now the pennant race update, we are still in third place jagoff. You dont need to update it. Gives out the number again. Tom in Des Plaines. Now some guy said doesnt this remind us of the 2003 and 2004 team. Well Rongey wouldnt know. He didnt follow the sox before he got the gig. He probably has a sheet to tell him who is on the team. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) this loss is the first one in a LONG TIME where i'm kinda visibly shaken. My entire mood was altered by this loss. I think it may be time to pop in one of the sox dvd's from last year. That may get you more upset, when you watch the sox tomorrow.
  22. Ozzie Guillen, We battled. Hopefully we play better. I love the way we played today. The game didnt finish the way we wanted to. No s*** Scott Merkin or some throws up a softball question, do you feel proud to be part of such a great game. Eat s***. Now ozzie is worried about Contreras. Jose has to pitch better. No s*** Ozzie. No one asks the question about bmac. what a bunch of goofs, media bulls***. Are they upset and worried that the sox will cut off their food spread at the park if they ask a tough question.
  23. Phone busy on my first try. First caller into the PFB show thinks that Ozzie made all the right moves last night. Shockingly he gets through. Someone gives PFB a tug on the nuts, and he is the skype caller of the show. Wow that was quick. He usually saves that for his more negative callers.
  24. I get to see this train wreck up close tomorrow. Hopefully they get a win to salvage the series. Why do we drop our pants every year, except last year, bend over and take it from the twinks past the asb. We just lost our 3 last series to them. Including a sweep. We are looking at another sweep here.
  25. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) This is the worst loss for the White Sox since the game in 2003 that Loaiza started against the Twins when he had a cold. Were is the cheerleader to tell us that everything is alright. Oh he is just about to get on the radio to give us diatribes about confidence.
