QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 01:03 AM) Are you for real? Nearly as funny as Seinfeld? I've never seen it, but I've heard from a few different people that it sucks. It's actually smarter and funnier than Seinfeld. If you don't start at the beginning of the series though, you will be lost in terms of story and jokes. There is an ongoing plot, in contrast to Seinfeld, where the episodes are pretty much self-contained. In short, if you jump in on season 2 or even halfway through season 1, you probably won't be able to appreciate it to the fullest.

HAHA is Vitale's partner a Clemson alum? It sounds like Hawk calling a Sox game. They do deserve a lot of credit though.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) My father has had 2 life-threatening experiences. 1 was about 10 years ago. He pulled over on the North Side with a flat tire. He SAFELY kneeled down to inspect and a truck driver driving an 18-wheeler and talking on a cell-phone ran over my father. He made it ok but suffered minor brain damage which causes him to have seizures once in a long while (but no for 3 years now thank God! ) and the impact tore all of his ligaments in his right-knee. Amazingly, he walks with only a few ligaments sewn together. The other time was his last seizure in 2001 I believe. He was sleeping and in the middle of the night he had a seizure. He ended up biting a piece of his tongue off and almost choking on it. He also lost memory for the night. I was never so terrified in my life. He didn't remember who I, nor the rest of my family was. He didn't know his name, date, etc. I thank God that he is OK now. Did your family sue?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) While most of the time Rotoworld is pretty funny, their remarks on Contreras and Hernandez are absolutely stupid. Basically saying that they won't succeed based on four f***ing starts between the two? That's absolutely stupid... Not to mention that because McCarthy threw 5 solid innings in Spring Training he is better than them.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) Dontrlle willis only had six starts in double a before he was called up to the majors and he never looked back. that's very true but he did have much more impressive minor league stats than even mccarthy. it was certainly a rarity i think.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) I never once said put in him the rotation right now, we have 5 more pitchers with more experience. All im saying is that I believe he is ready, has the personality and demeanor and age should not be something that should hold someone back. You keep pointing to the fact that he is 21, well there are younger people in the bigs. Even with his 4 starts at AA, he has been fluid and downright dominating in ST vs big league players. I understand that you want to seem relaxed and intelligent about bringing a player up too soon. BUt frankly this guy is ready to be tested. He should definatley start at AAA, and should be the first arm they bring up if they have to. You have to admit, he has looked better than Neil, Adkins, Diaz, Munoz, Garland, and they all have AAA and big league experience. You cant coach what this kid has, and you have to recognize that. First, if I ever said a 21 cannot physically pitch in the majors, I'd like to retract that. That's not what I mean. My main thing is the lack of experience. Neal did not and still doesn't have AAA experience. Second, I was under the impression you wanted him to be put into the starting rotation. I wouldn't be against him coming into the bullpen sometime later this year. So sorry about that.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) dynamite drop in, that broadcasting school has really paid off. And if we are going to now bring this debate to age, I would recommend so back up to the opinions considering that some of the best pitchers in thie city were brought up in their early 20's. of those pitchers you're talking about, all of them had much more experience than mccarthy. keep in mind you are advocating putting someone into our starting rotation who has had 4 starts at AA.
