To Ipod or not to Ipod that is the question...
LosMediasBlancas replied to chisoxdavid's topic in SLaM
I recently picked up a 4 gig Nano and the thrill wore off very quickly. I'm a sound geek, so I wish it had more of an adjustable EQ. I like to tweek the highs and lows, all it has is pre set options and bass boost. But it's a cool little gadget overall. -
NY, Yankee Stadium or the surrounding neighborhood are not as bad as people say. This isn't the 70's, NY has cleaned up a lot. Just use your street sense and you'll be fine. To answer your question, there is no such thing as cheap and nice in NYC, especially in Manhattan. You'd better be prepared to travel far from your hotal to the park.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 8, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) How do you help someone that is depressed? The last 6 months or so for Brian have been tough and it seems like the toll is starting to show on him. He keeps saying that he is just tired, but I know it is more than that. I can hear the flatness in his voice, the frustration when he talks about his job, etc. I have tried suggesting that if the CFD thing doesn't work, to try to go back to his last job where he was happy (money and vacation wasn't great, but he liked what he did). At FDP, he goes between being a feeder and a second pressman and it is a union shop which means fantastic money, but ball breaking hours. He has at least managed to stand up and say he will not work all weekends, that he wants at least one full weekend off each month. That has helped some, but the presses he works on are some of the biggest piles of crap around. If they were Heidelbergs he would have very little issues with his job other than not acclimating to the third shift. Just nannering, but hoping someone could give me ideas to cheer him up... www.victoriassecret.com

I know he was only two mins. short of the record, but when you consider the record is 9 mins., he didn't really come close.

He didn't make it. Pulled out by divers.

The official site says it's a hip problem, true? -
I'm confused. I thought it would take him the full 9 mins. to free himself.

How can he hear that guy???

QUOTE(The Critic @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Probably because righties feel more comfortable using the right hand for a knife, so they switch the fork to the left. I find myself doing that - switch the fork to the "weak side" when there's cutting to be done, then back to the "main" hand when it's time for the heavy lifting. See, to me, you need the stronger hand on the fork to hold the meat in place down onto the plate. If the blade is sharp enough, it will glide right over the meat and not require a lot of strength. If I swithced hands like you do, my left hand would not be able to hold the meat in place and my right hand would slide the piece of meat off of the plate. You're a freak.

I hate it when people answer a question with 'should'. "Have you seen Dave?" "He should be in his office." "Has my mail arrived yet?" "It should have" Yeah, I know it SHOULD have, but it's not really the frickin question now is it? Thx, I feel better.

I have an idea, let's see if we can turn crazy, baseless rumor #476 into a 175 page thread. -
I'm a righty and I don't switch my utensils from hand to hand when I eat. Why do righties do that?

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 8, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) The only he did/does that I enjoy is his card tricks. As much as I'm aware that his douchebaggery and my stupidity make them enjoyable I still am bewildered and entertained by it. I'm not sure what makes the guy a douchebag, but whatever. His street magic stuff is interesting, but some of it I'd have to see it live in front of me to believe it. If you look carefully there are a lot of jump cuts and breaks in continuity when it's done on TV.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ May 8, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) They said a funny thing on SNL this weekend. "Hopefully David Blaine emerges from the water tank and actually performs a magic trick." He calls himself an escape artist/performer, he gave up the magic a while back.

QUOTE(bmags @ May 8, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) Isobell Campbell and Mark Lennigan's album is quite enjoyable...hard to single out any song but an album i'm glad i bought cause i can play it with my dad on our drive home on friday. Is that the former Screaming Trees frontman? The spelling confused me. If so, he can make anything sound great, he just has one of those voices.

I never really had a problem with batting helmets being too warm, considering you don't really wear them that long. Now a dark colored wool cap, in the outfield, on a sunny 90 degree day, when your pitchers are getting killed can be brutal.

My wife absolutely LOVED 'Wicked'. I'll probably never see it. I can't stay interested in anything for longer than two hours, except baseball and live music

Where can I possibly find jerseys of old, kind of obscure Sox players?? I'm looking for Chet Lemon or Jorge Orta. Had no luck on eBay. Thx guys.

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ May 7, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) Anyone ever eat Dagostinos? I have yet to find a better sauce... I know I've seen that name on a sign. Where is that exactly? Is that near Addison and Damen, right on the corner?
