QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 18, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) I would say we will outnumber cubs fans at our place in a much bigger ratio than in previous years. The whole lower bowl is almost all season ticket holders. Yeah, but a lot of them scalp their tickets to big games to somewhat alleviate the brunt of the cost, but I see your point.

QUOTE(WCSox @ May 18, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) I hope that cuts down the number of fights. Something tells me that drunken Cubs fans and their already-fragile egos are going to be less tolerant towards belligerent, drunken Sox fans this season. YEP, my thoughst exactly.

I have to admit, if things were the other way around, there is NO WAY in hell I'd be going to Wrigley for this series. I wonder what % of the crowd will be Cub fans.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 18, 2006 -> 10:12 AM) ^^ ^^ ^^ Third times a charm... whoa, RD5 and NSS72 were just piggybacking, why'd they get more beer?

QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ May 18, 2006 -> 09:58 AM) I don't understand why people have a problem with the idea of chanting "1908". Chants are what brings the energy up, and it gets the crowd to an electric atmosphere. I hate it when the crowd sits back, doesn't chant, and only goes wild if the Sox do something great. The Sox are the freakin World Champs, let's give them some love back, get off our asses, and go wild from the first pitch. Why not? If I was a player, I sure would appreciate it. And I hate the fact that some Sox fans are saying this series is gonna feel flat; every series in '06 should be an electrifying experience. Let's be as loud as the Old Chicago Stadium during a blackhawks playoff game. I totally agree with your second point. Sox fans are afraid to cheer at the park. In regard to your first point, maybe a better idea is to cheer FOR the Sox and not against the opponent.

On paper it looks nice, but the stats go out the window for Sox/Cubs. The most dangerous team is a slumping team, because at some point, they WILL come out of it. The Cubs and Zambrano have looked like just maybe they're coming out of it, or at least have looked better this week. Mark, Jon and parts of our pen have looked kinda vulnerable lately at times. (I realize Jon's not pitching this series) I'd feel better if it was Vazquez, Garcia and Contreras. I never get too cocky about a Sox/Cubs series. Sunday's match up should be a good one. If Thome goes yard off Zambrano, this whole city will hear me cheer.

QUOTE(The Critic @ May 17, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) The Supersuckers' cover/parody "Your Mom Rules" is great. I don't like Black Sabbath, never did. Solo Ozzy has about 4 or 5 good songs. LOL, I saw The Supersuckers waaaaaay back in the day I like Sabbath, never cared for solo Ozzy.

QUOTE(Yoda @ May 16, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) Bought Black Sabbath's Greatest Hits CD this past Sunday and I've been hooked. War Pigs, Paranoid, Iron Man . . . Can't go wrong with Sabbath, timeless.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 16, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) If you get mono twice, does it become stereo? I kinda liked mono and vinyl, so raw.

Just the other day when asked about Garcia's performance, Ozzie replied that "if Garcia pitched on the northside, I guess he'd be Cy Young." Today, there's this: Ozzie: Chicago's still a Cubs town May 17, 2006 ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- There are few instances when White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen offers a disclaimer before giving an opinion on a touchy subject. But Guillen has been on the South Side long enough to know that any Sox-Cubs talk is viewed under a microscope. Before the Sox' game Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the third-year skipper was asked if winning the World Series in 2005 made Chicago a Sox town rather than a Cubs town. "If we played the way the Cubs played, there would be 2,000 people in the ballpark, believe me,'' Guillen said. "I know there may be some fans that are going to hate me for that, [but] it's a Cubs town. "But it's a good time to be a White Sox fan right now, a great time to be a White Sox fan. You're not going to turn the lights off and on in one year.'' Guillen said the best way to remedy the slanted treatment the Cubs seem to receive is to keep on winning. That's why no extra incentive is needed this weekend, when the Sox host the Cubs for three games at U.S. Cellular Field. "With the kids right now who are growing up in the city, it might turn around in 10 years,'' Guillen said. "If you're going to bring kids to the ballpark, you bring them on the South Side and see more stuff for kids. But if you're going to watch just baseball, go to Wrigley Field.'' First of all, Wrigley is mardi gras, with a ball game in the background. If you want to watch 'just baseball' it is NOT the place to go to. Second of all, if he believes this to be true, than he shouldn't complain about biased media coverage. Last, who gives a s***. Stop feeding into this idea that the Sox will always have an inferiority complex by making these statements.

Why we split up ...She told me we couldn't afford beer anymore and I'd have to quit drinking ...Then I caught her spending $65.00 on make-up. ...And I asked how come I had to give up stuff and not her. ...She said she needed the make-up to look pretty for me. ...I told her that was what the beer was for. I don't think she's coming back..........

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 16, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) There is an important line to draw in the sand: Singers on one side and "vocalists" on the other side. Some of the greatest performers in the history of music could not "sing", but their vocals were the greatest things to ever end up in music. Rock and Roll has more to do with "style" and "attitude" than actual technical prowess. I would rather spend my entire life hearing the likes of Stiv Bator(s), John Lydon, Johnny Thunders, Dave Kusworth, Rod Stewart, Spike, Tyla, Bob Dylan (*gasp*), Mick Jagger, etc. then spend 5 minutes listening to friggin' Pavarotti. But there is importance in both, and in some cases there is importance in lyrics. I love great lyrics. -Hanoi Rocks That's just some cool stuff there. Well said, there is an importance and should be an appreciation for both.

Lou Reed and Shane McGowan are two of my favorite vocalists and neither one can sing worth a damn.

QUOTE(bmags @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) the single was the worst song on the album...i think its their best album since Yield but that said i'm tired of pearl jams sound. It sounds old. but he had a unique voice, if radio was myriad David Coverdales i'm sure you'd change your tune. Yep, you know me, radio, MTV and Coverdale are some of my favorite things in life.

QUOTE(bmags @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) yeah, what the f*** was bob dylan thinking I bet you forgot the green, but that's a perfect example. Dylan the songwriter, good, Dylan the singer, not so much...... and like I said we are the complete opposite on this.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) Well I had to travel quite a bit before I got married to do a global rollout for my company. They say, hey kid want to see the world on our dime. It was a lot of fun. I got to see a lot of the world. You take the good with the bad. For every bridge climb in syndey you have, or for every Hong Kong nightclub you also get your crapholes. Places that I can check on the list of visted and dont want to go back. Sao Paulo - told to stay in at night. Bogota - armed escort took us from the airport to our hotel which was right next to our companies building. I didnt leave that hotel either. On the way out it took 8 hours to get through customs in Bogota. The airport is in a like valley. The takeoff and landings were interesting. China - Disgusting filth in that country. If you want to go on a diet, go there. Korea - Still dont know what I ate, but I have a funny feeling I would of asked it to bury a bone. South Africa - Cool Ocean views. There is this one cliff where you can see the Indian and Atlantic Oceans coming together. Its almost like you can see a line. That was the cool. The silly amount of shots I had to get was one thing. 2 months after I left armed thugs took over the site and stole all the computer equipment. New Delhi - nothing to eat, hot as hell, ate or drank something that made my mexico water pains seem like a walk in the park. Basically all of those places if you drink the water, you get the trots. Drink bottled water. And watch what you eat and you will be fine. Good tip about the water, don't use it to brush your teeth either. A lot of people make that mistake and end up just as sick. My wife and I bounced around in South Amercia for a while and really fell in love with it. I was taken back by the guards armed with ak47s at most banks. Two of them greeted us at the bank's entrance with their guns drawn, asked us where we were from and what business we'd be conducting in the bank. Then they asked my wife to wait outside, then one guard followed me all the way up to the teller's window, gun drawn the whole time. This happened at most banks. We were like WTF at first, then we got used to it.

White Sox Coach Gets Nothing but Results

The Yankees have been snooping about Coop since last year and he said he wasn't interested. I see Coop eventually wanting to manage and he is a New York native so.............. -
QUOTE(bmags @ May 16, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) I care about lyrics. There are loads of great songwriters, a band with terrible songwriting can completely take me out of their music. i.e. coldplay, muse. right on, the bass from "We R the Handclaps" is so brilliant. So many fun songs on there. I'm the total opposite. Sound great first and if you have something to say, it's a bonus. If you have something to say, but can't sing worth a damn, go write poetry or a book. Leave the singing to singers.

I'm not really a Pearl Jam fan, but I keep hearing good things about the new disc. Anyone give it a listen yet?
