QUOTE(The Critic @ May 22, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) I feel bad for Kerry Wood, because he seems like a genuinely good guy, but I don't feel bad for the Cubs. They have continuously banked on Wood being healthy despite his injury history, and haven't done much (if anything) to acquire additional pitching help. Then he gets hurt again and they're stuck with rookies or middle relievers thrown into the rotation. There were a LOT of available free-agent pitchers last offseason, and only guy they picked up was another injury case, Wade Miller. That's just inexcusable - I can see where the Prior thing may have blindsided them, but they KNEW Wood would spend some time on the DL after shoulder surgery. I hope for Wood's sake that he can someday stay healthy, but it would be fitting for him to do that for another franchise. Ditto. I met Kerry Wood last Thursday night, hours after his return and he is a VERY, VERY nice guy.

QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ May 22, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) I agree with all your points but the second. Paulie had a chance, but I do think that Uribe absolutely gunned the ball over there, on the replay it looked like Paulie just didnt have time to adjust. Not to mention that he probably wasnt putting himself in a very mobile position since he wasnt expecting a tough play. That's fair.
-
Three quick points: Don't get me started on Uribe's approach at the plate, you guys know how I feel about it. Pauly should have caught the bad throw by Uribe yesterday, it looked like short armed the reach. Pauly's foot was also at the center of the bag, had he shuffled his foot over to the RF part of the bag and fully streched, he makes the catch and we're probably talking about a Sox sweep. Yes, BA could've made the catch in CF on the Barrett triple. Not Ozzie's fault, not Cotts' fault. The D failed, ballgame.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 21, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) Did anyone happen to see Eric Byrnes run over Brian McCann at home plate last night? McCann looked like he broke/tore something in his lower leg. I eagerly await some idiotic articles saying they should ban players from running over the catcher. Congratulations on a TERRIBLE analogy. Lets see.....the Indians didn't even feel the need to retaliate against AJP....and Marcus Vick got kicked off the team. Vick went out of his way to step on Dumerville's leg. AJP, while he almost definitely could have avoided Boone, didn't change his direction or stop so he could do it. No, I can't find a clip of it anywhere. Do you have a link to the Byrnes collision? -
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#

Gee Greg, things get a little tougher when you don't have an ump giving your 'future hall of fame' ass a 10 foot strike zone. -

QUOTE(mreye @ May 19, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Take black tape and put Xs through the Cubs logos. You're still wearing the shirt and hat, right? Exactly, or write in 'HOKE' after the 'C' on the cap.

QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ May 19, 2006 -> 09:40 AM) Be very afraid of wounded animals. Right now the Cubs scare me. They have nothing to play for BUT this series right now. This would be the only thing they could hang thier hats on this season... beating the World Champs and the challenger to their population trophy. I don't think winning this seires would mean as much to the Sox as it would to the Cubs. That concerns me. Yep, they seem to be slowly coming out of their funk and we don't exactly look like WS Champs after dropping 2 of 3 to TB AND being passed up byt the Tigers. -

Cubs are hitting .192 vs. lefties and Maddux is looking more like he should lately. I say Sox 7-2. Line ups out yet? -
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 18, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) Good stuff. I can't wait for the series to start. It would've been hilarious had the Sox waiting to give out the rings for this series. I think they should replay that awesome video from opening day before all 3 games.

QUOTE(greg775 @ May 17, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) "If we played the way the Cubs played, there would be 2,000 people in the ballpark, believe me,'' Guillen said. "I know there may be some fans that are going to hate me for that, [but] it's a Cubs town. I hope the Sox rally around Oz this weekend. This certainly will be Cubs' rallying cry this weekend. "If we played the way the Cubs player, there would be 2000 in the park," means 'If we played the crap brand of baseball the Cubs played there'd be 2000 in the park." I love Oz for his candidness. Hope his players play hard cause the Cubs figure to be pissed after reading the sox skipper saying they suck. I took that 1st part as more of a crack at Sox fans. -
