Have a fun, safe time everyone.....especially SSI-71 Cheers brother By the way, is the word Celtic pronounced Seltic as is in the pro basketball team, or Keltic as in the style of music? True or false? Budweiser outsells Guinness in Ireland.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) I walk by the Tower at least once a day and there are always more than 10 people taking pictures of the tower at a time. Its a tourist attraction, and people love to photograph it. You would have to be really obvious to be noticed. Maybe anyone who looks suspicious gets chekced out. The issue about the rental car is what makes this incident fishy.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) I'm sure the Sears Tower is a target, but nothing less than an airplane will substantially damage the building. Last I recall--and I'm sure nothing has changed much since I've last driven by--the concrete/marble barriers lining up from the street to the building's base would make access impossible for a car bomb. s***, just drive 10 minutes to either the Aon Center or the Hancock Building and you can park a car within 5 ft of the entrance. Their dock is the same way. There is only so much they can do in terms of protection. Sure there are security check points and screeners in the lobby, but once a nut job is in the lobby, they can do a lot of damage.

QUOTE(ptatc @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) That's just a way of talking around it. The instability is caused by the disc shrinking in height so the vertabrae above and below the disc move too much or cause instability. The ligaments are loose again because the distance beten the two vertebrae has decreased due to the decreased disc height. Either way it will be the disc which causes the problem and it will nedd to be addressed if he is to continue pitching long term. Thx ptatc, I thought it was a disc until I heard that description. Now it makes sense again.

Update: Per the Cubs, it's only a 'shoulder strain' wink-wink.
-
QUOTE(ptatc @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) It's not the rest that is supposed to help but the strengthening and control exercises to keep the disc under control. This will keep the disc off the nerve and decrease the pain. Since the rehab didn't work there are going to do the epidurals which is like throwing a crap load of anti-inflammatories in a localized spot and hope the injection clams the inflammation down. My guess would be surgery. The surgery would not end his career but rehab would probably be 2-3 months, then with time to get the arm in shape he wouldn't be ready at the earliest until the mid-August. The epidurals may take care of it but I doubt it would on a long term basis. I could be wrong, but this doesn't sound like a disc injury: "...Hermanson felt better thanks to the epidural, which was given to control the pitcher's back pain caused by loose ligaments. The injury is called a one percent instability and only affects Hermanson when he pitches."

Dowtown security is so backward it's comical. You'll get hassled for the dumbest things in some buildings and left to roam free in some government buildings. :headshake

I'll come out of the corner swinging: One of our starters will throw a no hitter. -

from the Times on Jose: "We X-rayed him, and we thought he had maybe a loose body inside the joint,'' Schneider said. "That's absolutely not true. Somehow or another, he's got a little tendinitis in the triceps [near the elbow]. When he flexes his arm and he pulls his triceps over the spur that he has -- which all pitchers have -- it just irritates him. It's just a freak little thing. Structurally, he looks fine. "He's never had it before. We don't want to shut him down any longer than we have to.'' The problem is convincing Contreras of that. After throwing on the side Tuesday, Contreras, 34, said he felt great. Later in the day, however, he straightened his arm and felt pain in the elbow. "The trainer said not to worry, but obviously I'm worried a little bit,'' Contreras said. "I'm going to get treatment and see what happens the next few days.''

"...Hermanson felt better thanks to the epidural, which was given to control the pitcher's back pain caused by loose ligaments. The injury is called a one percent instability and only affects Hermanson when he pitches." This is the 1st time I've heard the Sox tell us exactly what Hermy's back injury is. This sounds totally different from disc trouble.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) and you visit the lifestyle page? Hmmm, ok..... Stories scroll across the home page all the time, some are from sports, some are entertainment, some are science related, etc. I click on whatever looks interesting. Got any other questions? -

MSN is my homepage. -
OK, lets say he stops being a um 'pussy' and pitches throught it, f***s up his arm, goes under the knife and is lost for the year. Then he'll be called a selfish prick for not having spoken up about the discomfort he felt in March. I'm not a Prior fan either but c'mon people.

Those are nice SSI.

Has anyone seen a Thome T Shirt anywhere? Either black on white or white on black with his name and number on the back. I've seen the jersey, but not a T.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 10:27 AM) Yep, this same thing happened last season and they didn't find anything wrong with his shoulder. Prior is a pussy. Pussy might be too harsh. He might be overly cautious and with their training staff, do you really blame him??

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) Only lemming Cubs fans buy every word that the Cubs spew. But finally, I think many of them are starting to recognize the lies. Cubs fans are calling out their team's management all day long on The Score now. It's hilarious. .......while still shelling out big loot for tix.
