QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) There were some good tunes in the 90's, but IMO the 90's were easily the worst decade for popular music yet. The 80's run a REAL close second, but what hurt the 80's was the production on most Popular songs. The drums were just evil in the 80's. Whereas in the 90's the material was just lacking. The One Hit Wonders of the 90's, not even 10 years later, are a strain to try and remember. As for song though...sheesh. I'm actually going to go into a debate with this one with somebody now and chime in later. I'm sure you will all be waiting for my reply. Oh, maybe I would have to say "Ruby Soho" by Kalapse...errr...I mean Rancid. The 80's were synthpop and make up. Was anyone really playing anything in the 80's? Madonna, Prince, M. Jackson, Boy George and Wham peaked in the 80's. The 90's were dominated by grunge, guitars and hey even power chords kinda made it back. Grunge alone kicked the crap out of anything 80's. Every decade has a ton of 1 hit wonders, the 80's had no shortage. I know this, the 2000's are in serious trouble.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) Details are starting to emerge about the suicide bombers who perpetrated these attacks. This one was only 18 years old http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/crime/article299086.ece Yeah, they really seemed like ordinary, if not positive kids. :headshake

Predictions for the series? I say we'll split. -
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) Great tunes...but I would have to say that 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' is the one, not cause I like Nirvana, I don't, but because it changed music in the 90s... I'd say Smells Like Teen Spirit was definately the most influential song of the 90's. The best song of the 90's is based on personal taste. Everyone has a few and they're all valid.

The Cubs let him in for free. What a BS article, I see that f***er in my neighborhood 2-3 times a week. He's not hard to find.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) I'm gonna combine this with the Jay Payton/Chad Bradford trade. So, three trades to talk about... Trade 1: Boston gets Chad Bradford. Oakland gets Jay Payton. Trade 2: Washington gets Preston Wilson + $$$. Colorado gets Day and PTBNL. Trade 3: Oakland gets Witasick, Kennedy. Colorado gets Byrnes and Quintanilla. Weren't the Sox rumored to be involved in trade #2 to get Day?

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Just decided to head to Cleveland for the upcoming games. I need some help from anyone that has done the trip before. 1. How far is the Airport from the Stadium. (can I just take a taxi or do I need to rent a car) 2. Is there any place to stay around the Stadium. 3. Are there many people outside the stadium selling tickets? (I'd like to get great seats...like right behind the Sox dugout. Do I have a chance or should I just buy the tickets off of ticketmaster) Need help folks. Thanks In Advance. Are you in Chicago? Just drive there.

A guy I work with always tries to tell me the 80's were overall better than the 90's in terms of music. The 80's were a joke and the 90's gave rock it's balls back, only to lose them again the 2000's.

QUOTE(CubKilla @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) If the bachelor isn't sitting up in front of a pool of his own vomit and the best man isn't cleaning it up at the end of the party (like I was w/my bro when he got hitched), then you DIDN'T PARTY HARD ENOUGH!!!!! ...........and there have to be some tired ladies nearby in similar conditions.
-
To me, the point of a bachelor party is for him to have 'fun' one last time without it getting him in trouble or being grounds for divorce. After he's married he can still do all the other stuff you guys are describing with no problem, so how does it make that night special? IMO Eh, whatever, ultimately it's up to the groom. It's his night, he's gotta be comfortable.

Yes, firm believer.

1 mountain of coke and 12 Fat hookers. They're cheaper and they have to work harder......................so I hear.

I'm all for the ban. The 'smoking section' in restaurants is a joke, usually the divider is........two feet of space. You can't drink alcohol wherever you want and that doesn't bother those around you, why should smoking be any different?

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) In the 1983 ALCS we hit .211 as a team; in the 93 ALCS we hit .237, and in the 2000 ALDS we hit GOD ALMIGHTY .185. This info is from the media guide, which you gotta have for so much info. That's what I thought. I remember all 3 teams looking solid during the season and then the offense got completely shut down in the playoffs because they finally faced tough pitchers back to back to back to back. We'll see about this '05 team.

I don't know about sitting on the fan deck with them, but I'd take all the Latin players out to a club. I speak Spanish and they all look they like to have a good time. .....throw Ozzie into the group and we'd go on a weekend binge.

QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) If the power plant was providing power for areas of Spain other than the Basque homeland, it will fall into what ETA likes to do. That might actually be a good book club entry, "The Basque History of the World"; it was a very interesting read. I don't think the plant was up and running yet.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) Try Stan's Drive In on Archer Avenue just east of Ashland Ave. Best in the city IMO, although I'm sure everyone has their personal fave. Really, where exactly? Once you go east of Ashland you hit that long stretrch of factories. I think Portillo's big beef is awesome.

Not sure what I walked in on, but I see 'pussing', 'moisture' and 'scabbing'. Moving along, for those of you who own an I-Pod, do they have sound or EQ controls?....or just the basic pre settings? Can you really tweak bass and treble?
-
I get the point, but I'd be curious to see both polls.
-
I'm in! Next best thing to a Sox game is an ASG with 4 Sox players in it and one of them being the AL starting pitcher.
-
It's just the most senseless thing I can remember in a long time. Here's an idea, go out with your buddy, get into a fight with other guys, get your butt kicked, stumble around bloodied and battered and then when someone offers you help, beat that person to death. WTF??

What would you do if the Sox won the World Series?

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) I think these people were kidding about rioting, I hope...celebrate, don't violate. How cool would it be to own the 'Official White Sox World Series Video'? I would love to be able to relive this season over and over again. I'd buy two, one for playing and one that would never come out of it's package. -
