  1. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) My mom works in New Orleans every other week. The company flies her in on Mondays and out on Friday. She left yesterday and said the place was absolutely crazy. ...as in?
  2. Of all the former Sox players who never won the WS, Black Jack is the guy I wish would have. He would have been so perfect on the '05 team.
  3. QUOTE (Steff @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 01:55 PM) Yep. A 5 in the gulf and a 3 when it hit land. Crazy stuff. They expect Gustav to be a 3 when it hits N.O.
  4. What venues should I check out in San Fran? I'll be there for a few days soon.
  5. QUOTE (mreye @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 06:43 AM) Jay is a good writer. A prick and a baby, yes, but a very good writer. My guess is he'll find a gig writing about regular stuff. I wish him luck in his therapy. Actually, I wish his therapist luck in not committing suicide. See, I think the complete opposite. A guy who has sold his soul, but a normal guy. s***ty writer.
  6. Just upgraded to a cat 5. Should hit N.O. on Tuesday. OMG.
  7. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) I agree, I love the White Sox, but we are bad against good teams. Playoff chances? Let's make it there first I guess. I agree. I enjoy the season one game at a time.
  8. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) I remember watching this when it happened. Comedy. Greene got lucky. Most rock n roll guys are pretty sarcastic a-holes and woulda made him look like a clown instead of standing there and taking it like a lost little girl.
  9. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Well you wouldnt say my number is eight five.you would say eighty five. yeah, but you and I are not as cool as CJ. He might be 'the eight to tha mutha f***ing five yo"
  10. I'm about 20 mins. from the San Andreas fault. When is 'the big one' gonna hit us?
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) Yeah shouldnt it be ochenta y cinco? Depends. How did the whole 'Ocho Cinco' thing start anyway? Did he ever call himself the 'Eight-Five' in English?
  12. QUOTE (mreye @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 08:37 PM) Maybe neighbor used to always say: "As useless as balls on a priest." She's an elderly woman. "I was sweatier than a priest in a motel parking lot."
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) I'm excited because my favorite Chuck Palahniuk book, "Choke", comes to the big screen Sept. 26, and it's getting good reviews. That book was demented, and the movie should be great. What'd you think of "Snuff' since you seem to be a fan of CP?
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) Call incorrect, as most of us could admit. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....fficial-re.html No way!
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) speaking of, Titus andronicus and Ted Leo are coming here. I'm pretty excited They'll be at Casbah in SD also. Might make the drive and catch a Pads game while I'm there.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 09:05 AM) New name in 2011: Chad Mucho Retardo Chad El Pendejo.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 12:54 PM) I was reading today that about 10 percent of the people in South Africa are white. So, doesn't that mean technically that if somebody in that grouping were to immigrate to the United States, they'd be "African-American" even with their skin complexion? Seems confusing to me. No, because they still wouldn't be 'Americans' of any kind, they'd be South Africans.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) I was going to say I don't hear the Arcade Fire in them, I suppose maybe in another band that uses a lot of instruments? I guess but, yeah, replacements pogues, clash-sure, (i hear a little GBV too) Thx for the tip. I'll check them out.
  19. 'Thriller' was the funniest nickname ever. Remember him?
  20. Move him up and let him play in the next age group?
  21. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) Why do you believe the umps blew it? It was a borderline call that could've went either way. Regardless, if AJ is called out, Thome is still walked to get to Ramirez, then Ramirez's hit would've easily scored Dye from 2nd who would be running with 2 outs. Either way it was a nice come from behind win. If AJ had a decent chance of reaching a base safely without the 'obstruction', then I might make the same call. But he didn't, he was dead in the water, threw his arm out and then flopped. As far as what would have happened had he been called out, a play like that can also be a momentum killer that sux the life out of a team. Maybe the same thing happens, but maybe not. Keep in mind, I'm only reading the details and looking at video clips. I didn't get to see the emotion from the players after the game. Who knows maybe, hopefully, it was a huge win for them and they'll go on a tear.
  22. QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 01:02 AM) I'm a Local H fan, other than that I'm not really interested. I'm a Local H fan too, but considering the price of the ticket and the rest of the line up, I'll probably pass. The Walkmen and Stereophonics (separate shows) are at Metro that week. I like them both, but has anyone seen either one live?
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) It was a very bush league play by A.J., but this is ridiculous. First off, if that is called correctly, it's man on 1st 2 outs in a tied 10th inning for Jim Thome. To say we got "swept" when that would have been the situation is ridiculous. We might have got swept, just as Thome might have hit a home run for all we know. Second off, to not feel good about that win is equally ridiculous. We had a win stolen from us on opening day by the umpires, and yesterday if anything evened out a wrong from March 31st. I think we disagree on almost everything. I don't think AJ's play was bush league, it was a desperate, last resort and the umps blew it. You're right, there is no way of knowing what might have happened had it been called correctly. I felt relieved that we won, for me that's not the same thing as feeling good.
  24. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) Ump's absolutely terrible blown call hands us the game. Where's all the b****ing about umpiring conspiracies against the Sox now? Where are all you guys? Also, AJ's not really a hero, he made a terrible baserunning mistake to begin with and got the benefit of a brutal call by Eddings. Even at full speed, it was pretty obvious AJ threw his arm out trying to get some sort of contact as he was dead and not going to run anymore. I agree, one of the worst calls ever. This 'win' doesn't make me feel good, we got swept.
  25. Our offense was so beautiful in the first half of 05 and Scotty was a big part of it.
