QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) I think that whole discussion between the two of them is awesome, but due to the graphic racist nature of the end of the conversation, I will not quote it for anyone. Yeah, it's a classic scene with two screen giants. Only after watching it for a second time do you realize the significance of Hopper asking for a cigarette during that conversation.

Decapitated and ATE him?
QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 11:12 PM) I'll be honest, I'm fairly surprised the guy wasn't apprehended by the passengers. Maybe it's the Canada factor. What was it, 37 passengers? 5 of them against the one man and knife probably would have ended quickly and without additional harm. No way do I let that motherf*** go. He was sitting right next to the victim. How many stab wounds do you think he could have gotten in before anyone could have jumped in to help? Enough to kill that kid, that's how many. They did the smart thing, let him finish up that kid, get off the bus and barricade the door.

Decapitated and ATE him?
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 02:03 PM) I dont know what I would do. Thats why its so scary. Try to save yourself, that's what you would do. He stabbed that kid how many times before he started taking him apart? That kid was done, there weren't gonna be any heroes. I'd be thankful that he decided to spend all of his time on that one kid instead of slashing a few other throats, including possibly mine. Don't they have the same kind of security screening to get on a bus as for a plane?? How the ef did he get a knife on the bus? ......and if he was able to saw through someone's neck bone, it couldn't have been a tiny swiss army knife on a key chain either. Think people will be dozing off on the bus any more?

Ancient Soxfan Ponders Schoolyard Days
"Fast pitch" was our game. Complete with the strike zone square spray painted onto a wall. All you needed was two players, one bat, one glove and a rubber ball. Inevitably, the ball would roll into a sewer and we'd have to go ask our parents for money to buy a new one. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Decapitated and ATE him?
Imagine what the other passengers went through. Maybe the victim talked to a few of them before getting on the bus. A few minutes later, they see this Li f***er walking up and down the aisle with his head.

Decapitated and ATE him?
QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 12:13 AM) I would walk up behind him and snap his neck like in the movies. LOL. Sheeeeit, I'd get off the bus and run til my legs gave out.

Decapitated and ATE him?
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 08:23 AM) Thats the first and only thing that gets me about this whole sick situation. It was a total random attack, and its scary to think that someone on a plane, bus, train, standing next to you in line at mcdonalds, etc. could just unload on you unsuspectingly. And to think that this one guy with a knife was able to hold off 37 others by fear alone, its just scary to think about He had a knife....and he was sawing some guy's head off......and he was eating him. Would you f*** with him?

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) Off today and popping in "True Romance". So many great lines in that film, but it contains my all time favorite: Walken: "Do you know who I am?" Hopper: "I give up, who are you?" Walken: "The anti Christ. You get me in a vendetta kind of mood and you can tell the angels in heaven you've never seen evil so singularly personified as in the face of the man who killed you."

Decapitated and ATE him?
"The U.S. Justice Department says one in 33 men in the United States has been a victim of a rape or attempted rape, compared with one in six women. Experts say men are far less likely to report a rape to authorities, because they fear being perceived as weak or see the attack as an assault on their masculinity." 1 in 33? How many members does SoxTalk have? Sounds like a few of you had your cookies taken from you.

Tornado sirens
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 04:49 PM) The city of Chicago itself is very unique in terms of weather, which is probably why you don't see tornadoes there. The lake keeps the city cooler than the surrounding area in many cases, as is the case throughout areas of Lake County as well. But the difference is Chicago isn't cooled nearly as much by the lake as places like Waukegan can be because of the urban heat island affect in the city re-warms the area a bit. For example, you'll often see a day in July where it's 78 in Waukegan and 88 in Aurora, but 83 in Chicago itself. Chicago is as complicated weatherwise as any city you'll find in the country, it's really hard to explain the weather in the city as it can be very different than even the nearby suburbs. One thing I will say is the reason the loop hasn't had a major tornado in well over a century has nothing to do with the tall buildings or the fact it's a big city. All the tall buildings really do is aid the urban heat island affect (but so do a lot of things, like the blacktop streets and emissions from automobiles). Actually, one other thing the tall and tightly packed together buildings can do in a downtown area during the storm is make the winds stronger and especially more likely to swirl. "...Actually, one other thing the tall and tightly packed together buildings can do in a downtown area during the storm is make the winds stronger and especially more likely to swirl." How exactly?

Oz probably getting suspended...
QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) Ozzie has said several times previously that he says things to the press to keep the press from beratiing his players. I don't recall that, but if he believes he has to protect his players from the media, then he must not think much of his players. It also seems out of character for Ozzie. He strikes me as the kind of guy who would tell his team to grow a pair and ignore the media.

Oz probably getting suspended...
QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) Does the reasoning matter? It seems if the results are there, that's what really matters. Of course not, he goes nuts and the team catches fire, that's a fact. But when people try to say that Ozzie intentionally does it to get the press off the players. C'mon. He's not that smart and I hope they're not that fragile.

I'm sorry I asked, Sheesh. and I'm still confused.

Oz probably getting suspended...
I realize that the pattern is there, but can you really link it to the attention from the press being off the players and onto Ozzie?? Maybe, it's just like at all of our jobs, when the boss is pissed, everyone knows it and everyone walks on eggshells and kicks their game up a notch.
