CTA considering adding grocery stores at El stops
LosMediasBlancas replied to BigSqwert's topic in SLaM
A lot of the el stops already have the newspaper stand/convenient stores in them, no? That sounds like a huge project. -
QUOTE (The Human Borch @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 09:37 PM) I've been listening to so much Chili Peppers lately, and Blood Sugar Sex Magik has quickly become my favorite album of all time (over The Chronic, haha). A couple of friends and I are starting up a band and I can't think of anyone better right now than RHCP to draw inspiration from. You should pm bmags, we call him 'the king of pop' around here. He's a huge RHCP fan, Hootie and the Blowfish too. . Yes, I've had a few tonight.

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 06:01 PM) Good thing you're out man. I think some here don't realize there's a difference between Cook County Jail and for example Dupage County Jail Hell yeah, Cook county jail ain't no punk. If you've ever been there even over night, you know the deal.

You can probably walk to Buddy Guy's Legends. Yeah, it can be touristy, but it's a blues bar and when you're in Chicago.....

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) Let me ask you people this. Anyone ever been to SF? (calling all you cali sox fans) In SF all they eat is this sourdough pizza, you can get some pretty good s*** near the piers. I wish they had that here, its AMAZING. Been to SF, but never though about having pizza there. I was too full of clam chowder.

Today, low grade unleaded: $4.49. I live in kind of a remote area near the mountains called the cove, so I have to drive about 10 minutes 'into town' for everything. I'm planning better so that I get everything done at once, instead of my usual back and forth whenever something popped in my head. Are you making adjustments?

A million reasons. I like that it's outdoors and in the summer, so the weather is usually great. Can't say that about the other three major sports. I like that you can bring the entire family. Do you take small children or grandma to NFL games??

Commie Ball: long article about cuban players
LosMediasBlancas replied to Cubano's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I love the graffiti on the wall behind the kid. "Photos? Sure. We will allow you to take one photo and it will be right HERE" Thx for the article. -
Stay away from Rush street. It's for tourists, even though you are one. Didn't the Giordanos on Wabash close? Was that the one that was in the basement? Like I said, there is one a away block from the Sears Tower.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) I've never had lou's, but I do like Giordano's. Haven't had it in about 4-5 yrs though. Gino's East has a corn meal in the crust that I am not a fan of. I do like Carson's and of course if you want to spend a few bucks Gibson's is cool. My parents just got back from Chicago Thursday and they loved the Field Museum. They bought a Chicago City Pass which gets you, for one price entrance to either the Sears Tower or John Hancock Center, plus the museums and other attractions. You can go to five different attractions for one price which they found easy. I always liked to do a lot of walking just to explore. I agree with Heads about Chicago being the greatest city in the world, with one caveat. This only applies from April - October! Hell with cold, snowy winters. Winter is a big issue. If you think about it, there are only 4 months when the weather is actually nice in Chicago. It's still cold up until late May and think about how cold it was during the WS in October.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) Waldo Cooney's, any of your South Siders ever had it? It's f***ing incredibly delicious. Their thin crust is so good. YES, on 51st. Holy cow, I used to live three blocks from that place. Now THAT is some true sout' side pizza, mmm greasy indeed. Try Falco's which is not too far way on Califonia and Archer. GREAT pizza and they it sell by the slice. Two giant slices and a canned pop for about $3.50.

Rumor: Sox Amongst 9 Interested in Frederico
LosMediasBlancas replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
'Monitoring' is not the same thing as signing him. It doesn't hurt to look. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) Lou's > Giordano's IMO Giordano's has slipped now that it has locations everywhere, it's hit or miss. If you find one that's top notch though, it beats the pants off of anywhere else. IMO.

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) You and your West Coast pina colada pizzas! To put it in perspective, Pizza Hut is the best pizza I've had in Cali.
-
Oh and eat deep dish pizza at Giordano's. There is one a block from the Sears Tower. Don't be talked into Lou Malnati's or Geno's East, they're both over rated tourist traps.

Joke of the Day: Carlos Marmol an NL All-Star
LosMediasBlancas replied to WSoxMatt's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) Which brings us right back to what a f***ing crock it is that the winner gets homefield advantage. If there's no set criteria for choosing the players (ie: any f***ing loser can participate) then it should have absolutely no effect on the regular or post season what so ever. I agree. How do you propose home field advantage for the WS should be determined?? -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) This isn't the first or last all-star game to have players on it that don't deserve it. They need a new system of voting and selection. As someone pointed out on this board last year, it's called the "ALL STAR" game. Nowhere in that title does it imply that the best or most deserving players will be chosen. Whatever criteria is being used by the fans in the voting to determine what ALL STAR means is valid. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) I have TOO MANY COUSINS for that. In fact I don't even know them all, but I would bet my life that if enough people in my family found out, they'd all come crawling out of the woodwork. Yep family suddenly gets big when you come across that kind of loot. It really is a help all or help none situation.

Do the 3 hour double decker bus tour, sit on top.

The tough part would be helping out family and friends, yet not giving everything away. If you help you're parents, well then you have to help your siblings and if you help your parents, well you have to help your grandparents and.....and cousins....and then there's HER side of the family.
