QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 11:26 PM) He was a decent reliever, even if he has been an ass lately. You're right, he had some bright spots with the Sox. I didn't know that he'd left on bad terms until he started running his mouth last year.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 12:30 AM) Paulie and Thome are big-time players. They both need to play and both need to have great second halves if we are going to make the playoffs. Even very good second halves would be enough. I have a feeling Paulie will turn it around and Jimmy seems to be already.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 12:05 AM) They started out as kid singers in the '50s. Wow, I'm not embarrased to say I didn't know that.

Wow, glad you're ok man.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 11:22 PM) Amazing amateur interview of John Lennon. The Bee Gees were around before '69?

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) Bring these back. YES, minus the guy in the picture wearing it.

You must be quite the porn aficionado to spot her in a crowd shot in the stands.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) The reports I've heard say it's near his left scapula. This is a pretty odd injury, if they are truthful. The strain shouldn't take more than a few days to resolve itself. The MLB site says it's a "cramp like pain near his left shoulder". That makes me curious at least.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) The Police/Elvis Costello show I saw in May was a glaring exception to that general rule. and the show was still one of the 10 best I have ever seen. "....I was just about as high up as you can get...." maybe that helped. Seriously though, I believe that. I'm trying to think of one and come up empty.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 07:35 AM) I would have loved a "greatest hits" show. Call me crazy, but I'd have liked to hear the songs that made me like Petty enough to drop 55 bucks on a 300-level seat to his show. I hadn't seen him since 1990, so "deep cuts" were not on my radar. Yeah 55 bucks for a 300-level seat is too much loot for anyone. Arena shows blow.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 11:47 PM) Just got home from the Tom Petty show. Steve Winwood bores the s*** outta me. No denying his talent, and his band are great musicians, but I just find him horribly dull. The Heartbreakers started strong, had a nice pace going, good song selection, good energy, then they brought Winwood out for a couple MORE of his songs. Traffic and Spencer Davis Group songs are not what I want when Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are on stage. That really derailed things for me. Then they played a few obscure songs and dragged them out much longer than they should have gone IMO. They didn't seem to catch their stride again until the end of the set. THEN they play their encores - they start with Runnin' Down A Dream, then play a cover of "Gloria". Extremely disappointing to me for them to play a cover when they have such a huge catalog of great songs still unplayed. American Girl ended the show in style. Overall I have to say I was disappointed. Musically they were great, but the song selection left a lot to be desired. WHAAAAAT? You mean Petty didn't do his usual 'greatest hits' show? By the way, I like Petty, but his live show has been the same for 20 years. Each tour he just adds the hit from his latest record.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 12:24 AM) This was just a matter of time, and I'd be very surprised if this isn't so in 2009. It hurts in the sense that Farmer and Stone are AWESOME together, but in today's world it's all about the TV crew, and Hawk and Stoney were also GREAT last year during that week or so they had together in August. , I think that could work well actually. I'd hate to see D.J. go away all together. "........I wouldn't mind D.J. with Farmer either" That would be like throwing meat to a hungry wolf. Maybe things have gotten better with Hawk and DJ, but it always seemed like Hawk didn't respect DJ or his opinions. Maybe it had to do with the age difference, or who knows what. If you listened to even 5 minutes of a broadcast, you knew who wore the pants in the booth. DJ would always try to take the high road and back down, eventually it became ass kissing out of fear.

QUOTE (TCQ @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) Not after weve won 6 in a row, but then again i wouldnt miss the game then as tonight i will be at the UC rockin wit Tom Petty Sell your Petty tix, take the cash and go see the Sox. On the way to the park, just play one of his greatest hits CDs real loud in your car, it'll be the same as any of his shows and a lot cheaper. Who is opening?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) There are alot of those fans that think the White Sox wrote, Lets go go whitesox in reaction to Go Cubs Go. I don't mind fight songs and Lets go go go white sox is no winner, but Blow Cubs Blow is seriously the worst ever....and not just because it's a Cubs song. They should have stuck with that Green Day song, 'Time of your life'??

Are Dye and Wise the only brothers on the squad...and Wise was a recent addition, right? Just an observation.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 01:52 AM) this is the greatest winner thread I've seen in a while... for those in the game thread... I had to leave, but the greatest bar special of all time was existent, we are talking about the following: Pint of Sierra Shot of Jameson FORRRRRRR 3.50 Unreal, just like the Wsox winner. I missed it, but my brother texted me....awesome awesome awesome. I have consumed nothing but Sierra in the past 6 months. I might never drink another beer again. Jameson? Yuk Great win last night.

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jul 2, 2008 -> 01:35 AM) God i hate the airlines. Im supposed to be flying to Pensacola, Florida from O'Hare on July 26 with my family. We booked tickets for the 5 of us going, but now my brother cannot go due to summer school. So now i'm planning to bring a friend, but it seems no airline will let you change the name on a ticket. So were basically out of luck. We don't know what to do. Has anyone had experience with this type of issue? You're probably hosed on this trip, but they will give you a credit for the $$ amount good for up to 12 months.

Shaq to Kobe: "Tell me how my ass tastes."
LosMediasBlancas replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I know it's old news, but I just got around to actually listening to it. It's interesting that the people who took it seriously only mention Kobe, when in fact he disses a few others as well. -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Gammons saying Cubs may not have enough to get Sabathia. He said the Brewers AA team is stacked with prospects, some scouts were telling him it might have the best prospects on one team they've ever seen. Flipped on the Cubs game and Len and Bob said the Cards might be interested in Holiday. If the Brewers get Sabathia and the Cardinals get Holiday, that will be one hell of a race between those three teams So basically CC will be in a Cubs uni soon.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 07:51 AM) He would say the most ignorant, stupid crap and the only thing that would happen was he'd get 'who you crappin' call outs on B&B. He was awful and his terrible tangents and completely uninformed and stupid political dialogue that he forced on the listeners was ridiculous. I didn't mind his sports related talk too much, but the political and social commentary made me embarrased to be a Chicagoan. It felt like the janitor had walked past a board of directors meeting and decided to chime in. Ignorant and stubborn are a bad combo. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 11:21 PM) Because it's the 2nd biggest tournament in the world after the World Cup and also because ESPN had the rights to cover the tourney. I realize it's the 2nd biggest tourney, it's more of the ESPN thing like you say. Thx.
