Which Sox Player Would Win in a Fight??
LosMediasBlancas replied to Marky Mark's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It seems like the biggest guys in MLB rarely fight. Can you name a big MLB guy that got into a lot of fights or near fights? -
I thought Jim Rice was already in, same for Dave Parker.

Congratulations.

Ok, I just got back from No Country For Old Men and liked it. For those of you who saw the film, I'll just say that there is a scene in which Woody Harrelson is a little too good at his detective work. I'm being very picky about an otherwise solid film.

QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 06:17 PM) no love for jaeger yet either? that stuff is like candy. Just seeing that word on screen made my body shiver and break out into that cold sweat like right before I puke.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) Oh man, so many thoughts/comments... Rum and coke is probably my drink of choice. Generally I go with Bacardi Gold or Ciclon (Bacardi product, rum spiked with a little tequila). I also drink vodka and sprite pretty often, especially at tailgates since our group always has purple vodka and maintaining the color is important, or occasionally a cosmopolitan. Beer I'm not terribly picky. I just don't like Miller Lite or any heavier/darker beers. I don't really do wine, never really been a fan, especially of reds. That might be a product of some ugly nights at Illinois that involved vodka shots followed by bottles of wine for some strange reason. Call me crazy, I might be the only person in the world that actually LIKES tequila. I know, it sounds weird but as long as you get at least "decent" stuff (ie not Sauza, the basic Cuervo, or any of the super-cheap brands) it's not quite as brutal on you later, and some of the good ones have really solid flavor. Actually, one of my favorite drinks, especially during the summer: "La Bomba" -a shot of tequila (a bit more if you're feeling brave) -about half a shot of Cointreau (yeah, I know, the s*** is fairly expensive) - two shots of pineapple juice -two shots of orange juice -a dash of grenadine if you so desire Serve over ice. It's pretty refreshing, and if you like more punch you can cut the juice in half (that's pretty strong though). I can't mix booze with anything that's a stimulant, like pop or red bull. I'm either going up or going down. It can't be both. Yep, good tequila (like Cazadores or Patron Silver) can be sipped from a glass. Unfortunately most Americans know it only as poison used to get hammered quickly. I think it might be a cultural thing or what you were brought up drinking. To me, whiskey is nasty as hell, but most of my Irish friends drink it down like kool aid in a tumbler.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 10:42 AM) People who live "up north" who say they couldn't get into the Christmas spirit down here where it is too warm. Do you remember stories of the three wise men trudging through snow to visit the baby Jesus? GMAB No, but Santa and his reindeer live at the north pole.

I've been stickin to my usual. Beer: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Stella, but lately I've been pouring beer into a glass, even if if it comes in a bottle. Wine: Gimme a bottle of good Australian Shiraz and I'll leave you alone for a while.

Ozzie. He's outsized and would have to fight dirty. He's crazy enough to take a bite otta someone's chest. "I don't know karate, but I know cuh-razy". -
QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) I made a thread just about this show on talkbears a while back. I was addicted to it. Its the funniest s*** ever. i could sit here and discuss the funny stuff you see on that show all day but Ill just get to my idea... Imagine if they spoofed this show, Chris Hansen would have to be involved, where some guy like thinks hes buying something on craigslist and shows up to a house and Chris Hanson walks out. Then, they can like plant stuff in his car like condoms and alcohol, and the best part could be, they would need a friends help, they hold up a picture of the guy and go is this you...he says yes, then they show him a picture of a man with the smallest genitalia in the world and ask him why hes sending these pictures to a 12 year old girl on the internet. Then tell them theyre calling his wife and stuff. Man, that would be the best show ever 'To Punk a Non Predator'?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) I read where most of their "arrests" do not get convicted. I always wondered since they were showing up to meet someone who was actually of legal age, what they would be convicted of? The opposite would not work in court, hey I thought she was 18, so why would the I thought she was 16 work for the prosecutor? But these guys are scum and deserve the severe public burn they get. The whole thing looks like entrapment to me.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) LOVE the 5!!! Though I am sick to death of people covering "Kick Out The Jams". Somebody should do something like "Sister Anne". LOL, it's gotta be such a fun tune to play though. And yes the MC5 rules.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 09:21 AM) I know, it kind of pisses me off too. Like I said, by the time I won the coin toss, Into the Wild was out of our local theatres. I thought maybe I could catch it some weeknight while on the road, but I haven't found the time yet. Unacceptable. Make it happen.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 11:18 PM) In a perfect world, Growing On Me by The Darkness would have been such a huge hit. I just saw the video for it on a video podcast and it reminded me of just how great that song is. I didn't want to like The Darkness, but there is some solid music behind all the schtik. I'm really into the MC5 lately. Any fans?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) Beowolf was better than I thought it would be. A fun little romp. Nothing deep, not great cinema - but good popcorn fodder. Ok dude, you've seen like 17 films and still no 'Into The Wild'??

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) $99 Spy Software is the answer We spy at work, you should spy at home. Especially with kids. How excatly would you approach that? Would you tell your kid that you will be monotoring their activity? Or would you spy on them?

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 05:11 PM) A) There's a major difference between a parent that "asks" and a parents that "tells" a child...a CHILD...to logoff the internet. mom a.- "billy will you log off the internet" billy - "..." mom b. "billy you've been on the internet for 2 hours, it is time to get off now" billy - "..." ok, so without knowing the actions that went behind the parent's words, we don't know HOW involved they were. B ) So my opinion would be speculation at best as to their level of involvment. C) I'm not a parent (although I feel that way at work) but it seems that's exactly what parenting is, it's telling your kid NO at the most difficult times. I love the internets and all, but to anyone that can't self-regulate or has issues coping and dealing with their own struggles, it's like giving a jar of icing to a fat kid. We're on the same page here. All I'm saying is it's easy to always blame the parents, but parenting is tough. Clearly the parents were very involved as they got her some counseling and she was on medication. The child was obviously very unstable. So the parents TELL this kid to get off the internet, the kid gets upset, runs to her room and swallows a bottle of pills. Then who feels like the A hole? It's a freak and tragic incident.
