Jailed?? What exactly are the charges?? To answer your question, I'm not easily shocked, but that was some shocking footage.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 04:29 AM) I've decided to own one home on each of the seven continents. It's more affordable (7 being approximately 43 less than 50), although airfare will eat up some of the savings. So far, I've got one continent covered, so only six more to go! ...and with the way the dollar turns over in some parts of the world, that's not so far fetched.
-
Random thought. It would be pretty cool to own one home in each of the 50 states. Nothing luxurious, just simple, modest homes where you could stop off and lay your head.

Plenty of people in Chicago drink whiskey. Very few drink it straight, but Jack and Coke is very popular. I agree that it seems women drink vodka more than men. Older people seem to drink more of the hard stuff. Get a bunch of old guys in the same bar and watch the Scotch fly off the shelf.

Generalisimo Chavez voted down in power grab.
LosMediasBlancas replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
The 56% turnout is surprisingly low. But yeah, adios Senor f***ball ! -
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) No. I believe you had the prototype, and it was never marketed to other kids. That's what I figured since I never saw another one.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Nov 30, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) Smirnoff is absolutely brutal unless you're mixing drinks with it, and even then I'd prefer other vodkas. There are SOOOO many better ones out there. You might as well go bargain basement and get Gordon's or Burnett's if you're going to do that. I know it's fairly cheap, but if you have to go that route get Svedka. It's a lot smoother and is generally only a couple of bucks more per handle. yeah Vodka became the new wine in the past 5 years or so. Funny how even booze that's been around for years can become trendy and 'refined' and suddenly it costs $100.00 a bottle.

Mayweather v. Hatton
LosMediasBlancas replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Hatton was a guy I thought would become a ledgend. I remember all of his early fights and he was relentless brick wall, with no defense that just kept moving forward with power punches. His last few fights have been really unimpressive. I hope he beats Mayweather, but I think Mayweather will run and duck all night and win a decision by like 400 points. -
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 12:43 PM) I have a sexy word document in front of me with all of those things you have just said. buh-bye time. I'm just not thrilled that I have to be the one to do it, because I have a manager above me that should be doing it. Yeah, but it's great experience. Look at it as an opportunity and not as a hassle. Good luck Captain Hook.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) where do I start? 2 months with little sign of improvement in job performance (this person was hired as a supervisor) twice left a key in the door to a SECURE location (yeah, I work at a bank, fyi) overnight co-workers have to clean up after this person and complain insubordination pretty much every day (this person is older -6 months- than me so therefore thinks they know more than me, despire having 6 more years of banking experience than they do) told me on two different occassions that they're "looking" for better opportunities in general, they shouldn't have been hired. (not my call in the first place) Hopefully all of these things have been documented and it was communicated to them that they were on their last strike. If so, give them a brief recap of all the things they did wrong and all the steps you took along the way to try to help them improve. In these situations the goal is to have them realize that YOU are not firing them, but that they got themselves fired.

8. Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings - 100 Days, 100 Nights The album from the band that played for Amy Winehouse. The lead singer used to be a prison guard at Rikers Island prison in New York. Not only does it sound like the best album of 1966, it sounds like the best record of 2007. Every inch of this classic soul sound blows me away. Album of the year. I mentioned these guys a while back in this thread...... and everyone laughed. Actually, it was in the music thread. :crying

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 30, 2007 -> 08:11 AM) Speaking of local dumb criminals, is there a thread started about the Drew Peterson case? This thing is getting more twisted by the day. I have been looking for a thread to pop up about it but maybe I missed it. I've been hearing bits and pieces. Give us the story.

It's rained pretty much all day today, well actually a steady drizzle, with an occasional shower. That might not seem like a big deal, but we got more rain today than they've seen around here in a few years put TOGETHER. Kind of amusing to see everyone spinning out on the roads. I woke to the trickling sound of running water this morning and I thought one of the toilets had overflown. When I sat up I realized the room was still dark at 8 am. I opened the blinds and there was no blazing sun in my eyes. It was raining, so I stood outside and just watched it for about 15 minutes. I missed rain.

Did anyone else have the EK doll with the bike that you'd put in this base and wind it up and let him go?? It came with ramps and alll kinds of obstacles you could set up for him. I spent hours and hours playing with that thing. RIP.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 30, 2007 -> 02:10 PM) Didn't see a thread about the latest Malibu fires, so I'll put this here. Very sad story about Butch Walker, a musician whose work I like a lot (or at least used to like a lot, his last two releases did nothing for me): In a tragic turn of events, it has come to light that the rental home owned by Flea that burned in the Malibu, California, wildfires over the weekend was being occupied by Avril Lavigne producer Butch Walker — and he lost everything in the blaze. Walker was touring New York at the time of the incident, and "had just consolidated my entire recording studio and house from Atlanta into the one house in Malibu," the songwriter/producer, who has also worked with Pink, Fall Out Boy, the Academy Is..., Tommy Lee and others, said in a press release. "I lost everything I've ever owned. Every master of every song I've ever recorded, every piece of recording equipment, guitars, drums and things I've collected over the years, cars, motorcycles, every family memorial, heirloom, picture and document we ever had. ... Gone. I feel like I finally know the difference between 'going back' and 'going home.' " Over the weekend, Flea said in a text message obtained by the Los Angeles Times that his $4.8 million home in Corral Canyon was "burnt to a crisp" by the fires on Saturday morning. According to TMZ.com, a second, $10 million Malibu home owned by Flea — the one in which he currently resides — did not burn. The one that did was a house that the bassist had been renting — most recently to Walker — and currently has up for sale, the site reports. Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose also had a close call when the fires burned his roof and singed some of his property. According to a report on KCAL-TV, Rose's assistant said the rocker "was with the hose everywhere" on his property, fighting to save his home. The fires, which have largely been contained, were the worst in Malibu in years, according to the Times. In late October, another series of fires forced evacuations in the area but hit the San Diego area much harder. I can't imagine losing everything I've ever owned. What a helpless feeling that must be. I suppose you never know how you'll react, but if it was me, I'd be thankful that no one was home at the time.

So Morrisey is suing NME for printing the following quotes: "Although I don't have anything against people from other countries, the higher the influx into England the more the British identity disappears. So the price is enormous. If you travel to Germany, it's still absolutely Germany. If you travel to Sweden, it still has a Swedish identity. "But travel to England and you have no idea where you are." Morrissey then gave a follow-up interview in which he clarified his remarks: "It could be construed that the reason I wouldn't wish to live in England is the immigration explosion. And that's not true at all." Actually, I guess he demanded NME print an apology and they refused. I see absolutely nothing wrong with anything he said.

QUOTE(farmteam @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 10:50 PM) I'm continuing my 90s listening. Lately, I've been hearing lots of Gin Blossoms (New Miserable Experience) and Weezer (mostly the Blue Album), but there's been some Nirvana and Wallflowers thrown in there as well. Also some Better than Ezra, Eve 6, and Oasis. No need to stray too far away from that decade of music.

Charles Martin's hit on McMahon

IIRC, Jimmy Mac was questionable for that game with a sore right shoulder to begin with. -
I hadn't eaten a peanut butter and jelly sanwhich in about ten years...until last week. Since then, I've had about 675 of them.
