  1. Ross! I'll say it again, he just needs to play....but he never will here.
  2. Anyone ever had a Wattaburger? YUM! Are there any in Cali.?
  3. "Only The Lonely" with John Candy is one of my all time favorite Chicago movies. I get a lump in my throat when they're in the old Comiskey and they set off the scoreboard. Aw great, now I'm homesick. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) Married with children is one of my favorite shows of all time. Wasn't the breakfast club set at one of the north suburban high schools or am I going nuts? yes, it was. "Code of Silence" anyone?
  4. Soreness is just part of working out, I have it constantly. Since in theory, you should be getting stronger and lifting more weight, you're muscles are constantly being challenged and will always be sore.
  5. Hey today's game will be on WGN. I get to watch, WOOO-HOOOO!
  6. I still hurt like hell after a workout and I've been lifting a long time. The funny thing about me is, that it seems to be worse 48 hours later than it is the day after the workout. That's why I work out every other day and try to seperate the muscle groups so that none of them are being overworked.
  7. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) Then what explains the SUPER-WIDE smiles on everyone's faces, and the random fireworks going off, and the free all-you-can-eat-and-drink "LMB Is Gone Fest" at Grant Park this weekend? Oh, and I totally agree about the "dry heat" thing. When I visited Phoenix a couple years ago, it was 105 to 110 every day, but I sweated more when I came home to 85 degree heat than I did the entire time in Arizona. "LMB Is Gone Fest" . I'll let you know what 113 feels like today. By the way, we drove through Phoenix on the way here and we will definately make a visit there soon. My wife really liked what she saw there. I'm still trying to get her down to SD, I'd consider moving or having another place there.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) Congrats on the job. Mrs LMB also start hers? It's been s***ty here all week. Though it's supposed to be nice tomorrow. I hate the end of summer. Thx, Mrs. LMB has some more time off before she starts. I hear Chicago has been having crappy weather since we left. I keep saying it's in mourning because I'm gone.
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) You have time to get to know your way around or do you start working again soon? How's the weather? Well, I start work on Wednesday. Luckily my job is literally 10 mins. and only two turns from our new home. It's been in the low 100's every day so far...BUT it's a dry heat. Believe me, 85 degrees and high humidity in Chicago feels much worse. It's supposed to hit 113 tomorrow. Funny observation about this area: Everyone drives 100 mph an hour, but moves like a turtle once they're outside of their car. So, you'll almost get run off the road on your way to Starbucks, but they'll have no problem waiting in a 20 minute line once they're inside. Strange.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) They film a surprising amount of commercials up in the Mojave and in the mountains around L.A. also. You spend enough time up looking at rocks up there and you start to recognize the scenery. Heck, just last week, I saw an ad for a GPS navigation system where the guy was using it to navigate roads, and I'm like "Hey, that's a mile west of here". "You spend enough time up looking at rocks up there and you start to recognize the scenery." That's very interesting. I'm having a real hard time learning my way around. Part of the reason is that there are no land marks to guide you. Everything is flat and surrounded by mountains in the distance. No matter which direction you face, it all looks the same.....to me anyway. Don't get me wrong, it's all beautiful out here, but you really have to know you're way around, especially at night.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 10:50 AM) You took a much more southerly route than we did. Maybe a good thing. We got stuck in the middle of the mountains just west of Denver after some big rig overturned and blocked the whole freeway. Finally made it in Monday at around 3 pm Cali. time. Internet and cable are hooked up and running. I was driving a 20 foot truck and towing a car, so I wanted the flatest roads possible. I've heard horror stories about how tough it is to drive through the rockies and the grand canyon. By the way, ever wonder where they film all those car commercials on open desert roads? West Texas. There is nothing and I mean NOTHING west of Dallas, except maybe El Paso.
  12. Day 1- Chicago to West Memphis, Arkansas. Day 2- West Memphis to Abiline, Tx. Dat 3 (today)- Abiline to Lorsdburg, New Mexico Day 4- Lordsburg to Palm Desert and after we're done with this grueling and boring trip tomorrow....we get to unload and unpack.
  13. Day 1 of the journey ends in West Memphis, Arkansas. I see the Sox are up 3-0, I'm tired, waiting for Chinese food to arrive at our room, I have 2 Heinees in the fridge and then it's good night. I did all the driving, I'm exhausted. Good night.

    Lunch

I had spinach lasagna at Pompei and it gave me hurricane guts. I thought I'd share that with the group.
  15. Tom was so much more interesting when he was reclusive and mysterious. Lately he's been running his mouth and we all realized he's a total zero. But since when has being stupid kept people off the big screen?
  16. ahem, it's 'huevos', just fyi.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) Good luck man. I hope to join you folks out there in the near future. Thx Rock. Would you be going for a vacation or relocating?
  18. This is the probably last Sox game I'll get to watch for a while, so.... LET'S! GO! WHITE SOX! clap, clap clap, clap, clap LET'S! GO! WHITE SOX!
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) Your getting there at the right time, just as the heats go away. Palm Desert is a very pretty area. Lots of retiree's there, but also tons of restaurants and a lot of beautiful houses and all that sort of good stuff. Oh and I hope you like golf cause there are some fine golf courses out there. Luckily for us, our careers will alllow us to get away in July and August, just as the temp hits the 110's there. We hope to be back in Chicago during those months, so we can duck the Chicago winters and the extreme desert heat over there. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) If ya ever wants to hit up an Angels/Sox game... You got it brother!
  20. QUOTE(BDavisFutureHOF @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) Scared s***less -- the fiance and I are about to go sign the contract for our first home purchase! You've proposed and have a fiance. How could anything else scare you? Everything will be fine.
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 12:33 PM) Best of luck in Cali, LMB!! Don't you vanish from the board and go to angelstalk.com or some s***. No chance, the Chicago White Sox are the only team that has ever and will ever matter. Besides, I can't follow the Angels cuz they're an AL team, can't follow the Dodogers cuz, well it's L.A., SF is too far away. My only choice is to start following tthe Padres more closely. Thx again for the wishes everyone.
  22. Palm Desert in So Cal. Thx for the wishes.
