Am I the only one having a problem opening any link related to this story? I can't even get on to the NY Posts's site.

One girl protesting on the news this morning said something like: "c'mon, we're from Cabrini Green, we have enouigh street sense to not point a gun at a cop". If that kid REALLY had some street sense, he woulda known that having a gun in your hand, pointed at the cops or not, while being chased by cops, is a really bad idea.
-
They're lucky the kid is not on an autopsy table having lead pulled otta his brain. If I'm a cop and a guy points what looks like a gun at me, I'm gonna squeeze the tigger til it goes 'click'.

re send the link please.

I wish AJ had better hands on plays at the plate. He seems to bobble every throw home.

Two random thoughts: After seeing how Pauly looked after strike 1 and strike 2 against Rivera, I thought it was just a question of what pitch he was gonna K on. HUGE, HUGE at bat by PK, he was geeked rounding the bases. I swear Gooch is slower every time I see him run the bases.

Are these people kidding? If a cop shouldn't be allowed to shoot a suspect when that suspect has a real looking gun in his hand, when can he shoot one? http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-teen09.html

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) I hated that character. Glad they got rid of him fast. Why?....he was awesome.

Their ex con boy from back east was hilarious.

I believe every Sox fan is optimistic AT HEART. I think the negativity partly has to do with being the smaller fan base in the city. Sox fans are afraid to jump in with both feet because of the abuse they'll get (mostly from Cub fans) if the team falls short. It's the old "yeah, I knew all along the team would blow it" defense mechanism.

Cool show, funny as hell with lots of hot women. I didn't know that not only does Mark Walberg produce the show, but that it's also partly based on his early Hollywood expriences.

Gee, I wonder what Junaito could be doing that might have hurt his back.

where does Quizno's get off charging $6.50 for a regular size sandwhich?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 07:45 AM) I'd have to kill myself if I were an HR person. Some people have the personality for it, and then there are those of us who just can't stand anybody I can understand why HR people can be so rude. I bet 95% of what people got to HR for can be found in writing somewhere. Most people are too lazy to look for it and read. It's faster to pick up a phone and bother HR.

QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:09 AM) No, there's a correlation between the consumption of fire water and saying stupid crap. The courage of your convictions is set when you're straight. That's why alcohol is often referred to as liquid courage...people have to courage to spout garbage they wouldn't normally say when level-headed. So, alcohol gives you the courage to speak the truth.....but you're truth is set when you're sober. The reason you don't spill the truth when you're sober is you realize it can get you in trouble.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:21 AM) Probably some good old fashioned Aussie Slang I would imagine. Wolfmother are bascially Jet v2.0 happening all over again, in terms of making it in the States with their rock and roll type of music. Still a very good band though and they're pretty damn popular down here ATM. I hope they last a little bit longer than friggin Jet. The next WM record will tell us if they want to be a good band with lasting power, or if they want to make money and get out. By the way, Perry Farrell came out and gave Wolfmother a nice big introduction before their set. I never saw him for the rest of the festival.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 07:44 AM) Do you know what songs they placed Los FWIW? Mostly the newer stuff of course. Dimension White Unicorn Woman Joker and the Thief etc. I was up in front, so I couldn't really tell if they had a big audience, but the reaction from those around me was most positive. Saw a few guys with Aussie flags, yelling wierd stuff in a funny accent.

How do you guys feel about giving B Mac a few starts and going with a 6 man rotation to take some of the burden off the starters' arms? Is it too late in the season? would the longer rest between starts screw them up even worse? Would it tinker too much with guys like Garland and Contreras who are throwing well?

Back from a long, boring Lolla weekend. I'm dissapointed and very sunburned. In a nutshell, the problem is that the fest is too big and the stages are spread too far apart. So if there are two bands that are playing at back to back time slots at different stages, you missed 15-20 minutes of their 60 minute set because that's how long it took to walk from one stage to the other. Not to mention that by the time you got to that next stage, you were so far back, that you could only look at the jumbotrons. I spent Friday running back and forth between stages and not seeing anyone's full set. Friday: Subways, so-so The M's-awful Eels-very good and hilarious Mute Math-AWESOME Secret Machines, solid as usual My Morning Jacket-good Sleater Kinnney- bad Saturday: The Go! Team-goofy, music for children Wolfmother- very good, I thought some kid broke my toe. Flip flops are a bad idea when the pit breaks out around you. Sonic Youth-been there, done that Smoking Popes- surprisingly enjoyable, fun band Flaming Lips- not enough good music, too many theatrics New Pornagraphers- o-ver-rated Sunday: The Hold Steady- I love those guys, finally got to see them. Ben Kweller- boooo 30 seconds to Mars-that Ledo kid seems like he's trying to sell you the music instead of letting you decide for yourself- bad The Shins- hurt by some huge sound problems which is too bad, what I was able to hear sounded interesting, no decision. Wilco- good, but seemed to be hitting their stride as their time slot ended. Too bad, coulda been awesome.

Uribe Benched for "Lack of Intensity"?
LosMediasBlancas replied to LVSoxFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) Our guys never, ever use two hands. I think it's funny that happened to Uribe. As I said in another post, he's been amazing ever since he's been with the Sox at catching anything in the air that touches his glove. We've given everyone else a chance to work over their problems this year....Uribe deserves the chance to work out of his recent slump. TIMO!!! -
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) Also saw Clerks 2, I didn't know it was possible to make such a bad movie. Smith has been trending down for a long time, but now I'm finally willing to say he's done. Sentimental, unfunny garbage. The Randall character just gets so annoying 3 minutes into the film. For comedy to work, you need two things: humorous lines, mixed in with straight lines. The Randall character is nothing but funny line after wise crack, after funny line, the problem is the lines aren't funny.
