QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) So much for Flying Under the Radar now. That term got so overused around these parts last season, it pretty much lost all meaning. I guess I can burn my stealth-mode-tionary.

This quote from KW says it all: ''The time to talk about how we look on paper, how our pitching looks on paper, is long past,'' Williams said. ''It's either time to step up or bring a new level of expectation. That's why we thought it was so important to go out and get [reliever Mike] MacDougal because certainly [the starting pitchers] have not, as a group, shown us enough. ''We have to compensate defensively, we have to compensate offensively, we have to compensate in the bullpen. They picked us up big-time last year. Now it's time to pick them up in different areas and hopefully find a formula that works for us.'' This ^ is the plan for the rest of 06, get on board or jump off now.

So when Kenny said he was going to stand pat, he meant he was going to stand pat?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) "I'm too Sexy" is always a crowd favorite... ^ WINNER, popular, funny and no high notes.

Avoid any with high notes, that's where people get into trouble......or put a clothespin on your nose and do Dylan.

Saw Clerks 2, eh kinda funny, but the humor gets repetitive. Rental.

There will be no more trades for the Sox
LosMediasBlancas replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Something I've noticed about Hawk lately is that he is back into '2000-2004 voice'. Hawk is on the inside and gave up on all those teams. He didn't sound that way last year at all, even during the 'collapse'. -
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 06:07 PM) I have zero musical ability, can't carry a tune with a handle. I am going to have to sing one karoake song soon and am trying to pick something that is short, and easy to sing. Of course it should also be very popular so I can be assured it will be on their list. I am thinking of making this a comedy thing and singing a parody version of something. 'walk on the wild side' by Lou Reed is pretty easy.

I'd probably stick with what we have too. These guys are either gonna turn it around and make it a race, or they're not. -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) Chris Rongey the post game host for the whitesox broadcast on AM670. He is soft and fuzzy like a mall easter bunny. So he is dubbed the Pink Fuzzy Bunny. He pretty much thinks that no matter what the sox do, its a great idea. If Ozzie pulled Contreras and used Pablo Ozuna to pitch from the 2nd inning on, he would salute it as a brave move and he is saving Contreras for next week. Dude that makes him no different than the guy they had before. I can't believe I forgot his name already.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) It makes me sick how the Yankees can give up nothing prospects for all stars just because they'll take all of the salary. It's just so wrong. Wouldn't it feel a little empty to the Yankees and their fans if they win the WS with a payroll that's $100 million more than any other team? With a payroll that high, they should absolutely crush any competition. Excellent point. I've always said it's like winning the heavyweight title by beating a one arm man and then having the nerve to celebrate. Sure King George plays within MLB rules, but what happened to a sense of competition? -
Alcohol=truth serum. So, Mel wants us to believe those thoughts have never crossed his mind and that the booze had him acting completely out of character. OK Mel.

QUOTE(korntownballa @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) I heard rumor about the Red Sox geting Jake Peavy and Scott Linebrink for only Willi Mo Pena Juilan Tavarez and Cash in a 3 team deal. So I was wondering why not we offer the Padres B-McC and Fields for those 2? I think that is a LOT better htan what the Red Sox offeredt them. Thoughts? Where'd you hear this rumor?

7/29/06 White Sox v. Orioles

QUOTE(PlunketChris @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Remember when everyone was crying everytime John took the mound? There was so much talk around here about getting him traded, now look at him. And now it's Freddy and Javy getting thrown under the bus. Everyone will do fine. When we make the playoffs, everyone will step up again and kill. That said, a win today would be very nice and confidence boosting. I'm gonna start the "daily interview from under the bus" thread. Guaranteed to have a different guest daily. -
Jenks Heat was extremely accomodating during our transaction. Thx again man!

Who is starting for the O's? -
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 01:10 AM) I wouldn't want to trade anyone to the Red Sox. Not when you consider that the Sox might see them in the post-season. Once or if the offense gets back on track (or anywhere near where they were) and Buehrle turns it around, the Sox are pretty damn good. I don't think they need Vazquez and Garcia in top form, not when you have this current bullpen. Contreras, Buehrle and Garland should and will be enough. The only moves I'd consider making are acquiring a backup OFer and another bullpen arm. Even aside from that, I think the Sox can survive. Amen. It only took 22 posts for someone to figure this out: "I wouldn't want to trade anyone to the Red Sox. Not when you consider that the Sox might see them in the post-season."
